O D is one of the best tight ends in the game, he deserves to have a nice contract. Problem is that there are teams out there paying lesser TEs at higher salaries. The Texans have some very nice young TEs on the team and no matter how good Daniels is it would not be smart to pay this guy 9 mill a year or anything close to that. I love Daniels but I would gladly take a 1st and 3rd round pick for him!

Really? I can tell you, that he is tearing up this country for the middle class folks.
The tax hits that will happen because of the Health Care reform that he has been pushing for will destroy middle class families. Force families like mine to drop my healthcare and sign up for govt healthcare, so I can save a few dollars on my pay check, since it will get taxed twice as hard.
The ciggeratte tax. I mean serisouly? How many people below poverty line smoke? If you think the American people will quit ciggs with Nicotine being one if not the most addicting substance we know, you are mistaken.
To my knowledge, this would be the first year that the Veterans don’t get a cost of living raise.
That extra 25 dollars a paycheck we were all suppose to see, well…. it comes back at you at the begining of the year. I don’t know about you, but I didn’t enjoy paying out 30k in taxes this year. “Granted its still somewhat Bush’s tax policy, but if your trying to get the people to spend money, well its not working. It just happens to be the first time I have ever had to pay in taxes at the begining of the year. “Still owe 2500 or so” It might be just a random thing, but when Im used to getting back 3-5k and now Im paying with no changes, something has happen.
I can go at this all day long.

I personally don’t mind politics being discussed on any forum (even if it seems missplaced). I disagree with “ImpeachObamanow”, but he’s free to have any username he wants.
The irony is that he doesn’t want Daniels to exercise his right to test the free market and increase his profits. A set “pay scale” sounds like socialism to me…

Can’t say I blame OD, he’s being underpaid for what he does and was tracking for a greater than 1,000 yards recieving this past year.
3 million is a lot of money, but considering he’s taking hits across the middle and blocking…seems like a bargain.

RFA is screwing players. Teams tell players to play out their contracts then they can make money.
They do, then the teams slaps a tag on them or are RFA and they basically are screwed for another year. Yes, they still get paid well, but not if they were in the open market and some of them just want to get the hell out of the place they are in. Besides, what happens if they get hurt that year? Then their value in the open market the following year will seriously be hurt.
I’m all for rookie wage scales, etc, but when someone plays out their contract, let them to wherever they want.

Hey Poo Flinging Monkey you are correct that this is suppose to be a sports site. Just think – maybe the PETA people think your name is abusive to them. Nobody can do anything in this country with some poor whine bag saying it is not politically correct.
My beef with these guys is that a vast majority of the time after they sign big contracts their performance falls off dramatically. I still think that some of their pay should come from performance, maybe team performance. Last time I checked it is still a team game. Just remember that every time one of them wants a raise and gets it before his contract is up, it only raises the ticket prices and every other cost associated with the product. I think 3 + Mill per year to play a game is pretty damn good take home pay.
Oh yeah – I could care less if you don’t like my name, truthfully if you are not worried about the direction of our country under the idiots we have in DC (Pres, Rep’s & Dem’s) and we continue to let them dictate everything we do, you are going to wake up one day without the power to make comments on sites like this.

Shut up about politics. They should pay the man. He is a great TE, and he should be given a long term contract. That said, this is the system that the players agreed to. With THAT being said, the money men will screw over the player in a heartbeat if it will save them some money, so the player has the right to screw over the organization.

I would not recommend Daniels missing camp. Yesars ago, a TE for the then LA Raiders, Todd Christensen, had 96 receptions and only 1 dropped pass for the entire season. The following year, he decided to sit out training camp, only showing up the last week before the first regular season game. Consequently, Todd had 7 drops in the first 3 games and nowhere close to the season he had the previous year. He did not have the quickness off of the line of scrimmage nor the explosion up the field and out of his cuts into the final stages of his routes.
