Suh will do all combine workouts

Top draft prospects often decline to work out at the NFL scouting combine, or go through only a couple of drills, reasoning that a bad performance can hurt them more than a good performance can help them.

Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is not taking that approach.

Len Pasquarelli of ESPN.com quotes Suh’s agent as saying he will participate in all of the workouts at the combine, which starts next week in Indianapolis.

“He’s in the best shape of his life and he wants to [demonstrate] that to people,” said agent Roosevelt Barnes. “There’s no reason [not to work out]. . . . He’s ready for it all.”

Suh and Oklahoma defensive tackle Gerald McCoy are generally regarded as the two best prospects in this year’s draft.

Have defensive tackles ever gone 1-2 in the draft?

while i dont really think the combine is that important for the actual numbers since its not real football being played, i do however like that sue has steppped up and said that he is not going to duck the drills, it says more about his character than the numbers will say about his ability.

This is great, for once a player makes his own decision and not some agent.

I’m not to sure I like this idea. Without a doubt I love to see the players workout.. but what is it really going to do to his draft stock? It can’t go any higher.
An injury to his knees, where theres already been trouble in the past, would be a catastrophe.
Eugene Parker better pull in the leash on Barnes and talk some sense into that partner of his!

    hopefully with his shirt on.

If Suh dominates the pros like he did college, I foresee the fanbase of whatever team he goes to coming up with Chuck Norris style quips about him.

    @ Big Stretch:
Don’t worry, Suh is ten times more athletic and in shape than Terrence Cody. Still a DT, but built differently thank god. This statement shows he is willing to work out and not sit around watching how great he is on Sportscenter. It’s a character thing, and he is durable enough that a couple of days working out is nothing.

    Goooooooo Big Red!!!

Looks like Suh might be getting a little worried that McCoy will overtake him as the #1 pick. Playing identical positions as they do, there could be several million dollars difference between #1 and #2 or 3.

    @ SgtSigma -
with a man that big i had to make the joke…..
that being said i wish the Bills could get him.

Unnecessary risk with nothing to gain other than a figurative pat on the back for showing up. This guy needs to listen to his trainer.

I’m an OU fan and I just got one thing to say – Suh is better. Both will have good NFL careers – but Suh will be dominate.

I admire the guy for saying he’s not going to shy away from showing off his skills, even if it might drop his stock.

#1 This is ancient news. I saw it reported over two weeks ago on draftcountdown.com.
#2 In ten years, both Suh and McCoy won’t even be known as the best DT from this class, Brian Price will be.

gotta wonder why. I admire and respect the fact that he is, but he has nothing to gain, and everything to lose. Puts pressure on McCoy to do the same.

Is it possible that maybe, just maybe, this guy was raised on the belief that you are no better than the crowd and whatever they do you had better be willing to do as well?
You people pissed and moaned that favre was going to start without going to training camp, but now are complaining that this guy is going to work out at the combine? maybe I’m missing something here, but the double standard seems a bit stupid.
Good for him for working out. character is HUGE in the NFL and anyone who doesnt think stuff like this will help him is nuts.

I can’t wait to see how fast (or slow) his 40 yard is.

    raybin -
you used the word “quips” – dude, seriously, what is up with that?

  19. Bious says: Feb 18, 2010 8:42 PM

Not sure i understand his rationale
He is already looked upon as the best player in the draft…and can’t do anything that will make someone think of him any higher
Though McShay and others have Suh not going #1, he will in fact go #1
