Chargers are definitely looking to trade Cromartie

When we caught wind Monday afternoon that something was up with the Chargers, the first name that came to mind wasn’t LaDainian Tomlinson.

Unfortunately.

So we started poking around generally regarding things that might be happening in San Diego, and we quickly realized that the franchise currently has a bunch of thorny issues to deal with.

Among them is the status of cornerback Antonio Cromartie.  Rumored to be available via trade, the reality is that the Chargers are affirmatively trying to move him.

Whether they’re successful remains to be seen.  The outcome depends on the compensation another team would offer — and whether a suitor for Cromartie’s services would be able to come to an agreement with the player on an extension of a contract that runs through 2010.

We’re also told that Cromartie is telling teammates that a trade is coming soon.  The soonest it can come is March 5.  So, as always, stay tuned.

  1. Cut Thomlinson and trade “Crow”martie?
I think Thomlinson is the one with better trade value, folks.

  2. Since there are reports out that Cro has 7 fun babies by 6 different baby’s mamas in 5 different states and is over $25,000 behind in child support at the age of 25, perhaps Antonio hasn’t been focusing much of his time on improving as a DB.

  3. send him to the Lingerie Football League so he can have sex (in his case sex = babies, as he seems never to play “for” the trojans) with every player and become in 20 years the owner of the

    – problem solved with Cromatie

    i want rogers job, NOW

  4. Is the Lynch for Cromartie idea really that crazy? I mean I know cromartie has a stable of children and beeatchs, but Travis Henry and McGahee seemed to be ok in Buff….

  5. With all the talk about the Texans looking to get LT, I would almost think a trade between the Chargers for Cromartie would be more realistic.
Texans slap Dunta Robinson with the franchise tag and then trade to San Diego for Cromartie.
    Both sides are then happy.

Lynch is a cop magnet – and look at the Chargers previous run ins…Merriman, Steve Foley and now Cromartie. Lynch had a gun charge, is from Oakland, and San Diego Police dont f#$k around (just ask Jet fan that got ejected in that playoff game)…its a different climate there….

I don’t think so. Cromartie will go to the highest bidder. If that’s only a 3rd rounder, so be it.

  8. travis henry was a thug on top of it. cromartie has a couple extra kids, but was never in the legal trouble henry was.

    Really??
Do these guys ever even think about the simple procedure of getting snipped????

  10. @ Florio,
What’s “unfortunate” about it? Why would your first thought be a whiner who had 700 yards and only 3.3 yards per carry?

He actually has been improving, if you apply a slightly different definition to the acronym “DB”.
