New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft says his team is close to working out a long-term contract with nose tackle Vince Wilfork.
“We have a budget we’ve set for next year. Our first priority is with Vince,” Kraft told Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald. “I think we’ve had some positive discussions. We’re very close. I hope we can conclude it soon.”
Wilfork and his wife, Bianca, have both indicated that they want the Patriots to give him a long-term deal. Kraft said that’s what he wants, too.
“Look, we love Vince,” Kraft said. “He and Bianca have been a special part of our franchise. We love having him here. I hope here’s here for a long time to come. We’re trying to do everything we can to make that happen.”
