Lost in all the talk regarding whether any of the high-end guys who hope to throw the football for a living will choose to throw the football at the Scouting Combine is whether some of the high-end guys who hope to run the football for a living will choose to run at the Scouting Combine.
As to one of those guys, the answer is yes.
A source with knowledge of the situation tells us that Clemson running back C.J. Spiller, widely regarded as one of the top players at the position, will run the 40-yard dash for scouts.
Depending on Spiller’s numbers, he might then choose not to run again at his Pro Day workout.
Running backs will work out on Sunday, with quarterbacks and receivers.
Its a shame all these QB’s who wont throw. If you can handle the pressure of the combine how are you going to handle the pressure of running an NFL offense.
i predit a 4.34
The boy can fly…I’m predicting 4.32.
Keep an eye on Jacoby Ford, who has gauranteed he will break 4.3. The biggest issue for him will be making the transition from the track-style block start, to the three-point stance. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and predict 4.28.
Get ‘em Tigers.
Really? I know it has become a custom for QB’s not to throw at the combine, but when did it become questioned that a RB might not run (unless injured)? How is this news, unless it is just a sarcastic post?
4.3 flat
But what Holmgren wants to know is if Spiller’s going to throw.
I wonder if Mr. Bevilacqua will stop the race if he gets a head start.
He’s a better man than Seinfeld.
“I choose Not To Run!”
4.28. Spiller has serious speed. You tube him.
Lucas Oil has an extremely fast surface. The Colts are built for speed for a reason and you see a much better squad when Indy plays at home. This is why I bet a hundy on New Orleans in the Superbowl. Its also why Spiller is running!

Oh I don’t know, Jeff, how did all of these QB’s handle the pressure of an NFL offense:
Peyton Manning did not throw at the combine.
Matthew Stafford did not throw at the combine.
Eli Manning did not throw at the combine.
Philip Rivers did not throw at the combine.
Carson Palmer did not throw at the combine.
Michael Vick did not throw OR RUN at the combine.
It has nothing to do with pressure- it just doesn’t make sense for top QB’s to throw when they have absolutely nothing to gain.

C.J. Spiller is “the real deal” and won’t last that long in the draft.
