PFTV looks at the Underwear Olympics

We’ve addressed in various contexts of late the Scouting Combine, also known as the Underwear Olympics.

We realize that it provides an avenue for talking football during the offseason, but since when is a bunch of guys running and jumping and generally not playing football count as football?

Still, does it help teams sift through draft picks?  For the answer, kill a couple of minutes and check out one of our new PFTV segments.

The following four letters are the scourge of PFT page views:
    PFTV
Any post beginning with those four letters automatically gets about 1/4 the replies of any average post.

The Combine is stupid and idiotic and not worth paying any attention to. And it’s certainly not worth covering on this site. For more on that, here’s a feature on our site that we hope you pay attention to.

I’m sure Chris Johnson’s record breaking 40 time that pushed him up draft boards 2 years ago probably didn’t give teams any indication as to what he was capable of.

WTF!?!?!?! You post countless articles here killing people who don’t do all of the drills at the combine, then you kill the combine for not being relevant?
Do you have even a shred of dignity or will you just say whatever you think will get hits? How could you take both sides of an issue so blatantly?

Lot of guys who just like to post hateful messages. Take a nap, ya grumps.
If the put pads on them, then had them go through the drills, it would be a far better indication of how guys will really move on the field.
Also, any of it could help you make a decision between two guys who you have ranked pretty close, after watching them on film.
So, college body of work + senior bowl + combine.
I like the combine because it lets me see/read about how some guys who did nothing college shoot up the draft. Funny.

How could Florio and King suggest they know better then the 32 teams in the NFL?
Interviews and how a player reacts when all eyes are watching are two good enough reasons to hold the combine.
Is Florio downplaying the Combine because he’s on NBC and its competing with the Olympics for viewers?
And to call it the “underwear olympics”, wow, you sound like a school girl, “look at the boys running around in their underwear! teehehehe”.
