Childress “pretty good” if Favre has same timeline as last year

Brett Favre can take all the time he wants this offseason.

Speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine, Vikings coach Brad Childress said that he won’t put Brett Favre “in any box” when asked if he wanted a decision from Favre before the draft.

Childress spoke with Favre twice this week, but the conversations were short. And they primarily concerned landscaping.

Asked by ESPN’s Chris Mortensen if Favre could join his teammates on a similar timeline to last year, Childress said, “I’m pretty good with that. . . . It would it be nice to know sooner than later. But you have to be able to deal with uncertainty and ambiguity in this business.”

With the statements like that, it’s hard to imagine there’s even much ambiguity left regarding Favre’s 2010 future.

With the secure knowledge that he can return whenever he wants, it would be a big surprise at this point if Favre didn’t return.
