Childress "pretty good" if Favre has same timeline as last year

Brett Favre can take all the time he wants this offseason.

Speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine, Vikings coach Brad Childress said that he won’t put Brett Favre “in any box” when asked if he wanted a decision from Favre before the draft.

Childress spoke with Favre twice this week, but the conversations were short.  And they primarily concerned landscaping.

Asked by ESPN’s Chris Mortensen if Favre could join his teammates on a similar timeline to last year, Childress said, “I’m pretty good with that. . . . It would it be nice to know sooner than later.  But you have to be able to deal with uncertainty and ambiguity in this business.”

With the statements like that, it’s hard to imagine there’s even much ambiguity left regarding Favre’s 2010 future.

With the secure knowledge that he can return whenever he wants, it would be a big surprise at this point if Favre didn’t return.

  1. Brad Childress, careful to bend at the knees slightly when you bend over to take all of Brett Favre into you. It’s makes the terrible experience all the better.
This is what happens when your coach cannot develop a QB from within. Truly pathetic.

  2. It’s pretty funny about the minni fans taking out ads and whatnot begging favre to come back. That’s exactly why so many people in Wisconsin can’t stand him, he demands the royal but kissing before he plays and eats it up in heaping spoonfuls. Pack fans grew tired of it. If he’s such a competitor yada yada loves the game blah blah he shouldn’t need to be begged to play. For crying out loud, those fans need to start acting like grown men. Also, when coaches set different rules for different players it makes them look weak in the players eyes and harbors resentment. Of course other players don’t admit this publicly but you can’t deny it.

  3. Wow another story this website should have never posted!!
Childress spoke to Favre about Landscaping!!
He must not be coming back since he is working on Landscaping now!! hahah

  4. It just does not get any better than this. Losers EVERYWHERE in minnesota!
    LA viqueens 2011!
    skoal

  5. Ted Thompson made at least 2 good moves in GB by moving on from Favre and not even giving Childress an interview.

  6. Favre’s just lookin for the greenlight to bypass OTA’s, Training Camp, & the such. Those things are for young bucks.
I think if Favre is healthy, he should come back for one more. Make it an even 20yrs…. impressive. Not to mention, I think the chance for Minny to make it to Dallas this year are at least as good as last year, if not better. Minny has no chance without Favre. So, one more from the gunslinger is good for everyone involved, IMO.

  7. This shows how desperate the Vikings are. “Yea sure we’ll put an entire team on hold while you make up your mind”, that is inconsiderate. I’m not a Vikings hater and would say the same about any team and QB. Either your playing or your not. Look at it this way, the Vikings don’t know who they have at QB, if it’s T Jack then your offense changes and you need time to adjust. If it’s Favre then great, you don’t change anything and build on last year. But, you don’t know so your in pretty much the same situation as any team who needs a QB.

  8. Chilly just would like a days notice so he can get his car detailed and his knee pads out.
What flight will you be on Mr Farve oh they sent ziggys plane I will be there Mr Farve

  9. Eeeesh. Recipe for disaster Brad. You can’t just let this guy stroll in after his teammates just got done bustin’ their asses at Mankato for two a days and not expect some locker room problems and loss of respect issues. Last year was a different circumstance with the bicep. This year there is no reason for him not to be there.

  10. Looks like everyone in the Vikes orginization is fine with whenever he decides……
Guess it’s just the whiny ass Packer fans that have the problem.
Give it a rest, as you’ve said, he’s not your problem anymore. So, then, why do you act like he is?
    Turds.

  11. to all classless packer fans:
Maybe you should just be grateful that Favre gave your franchise 16 years of some of the QB play in the history of the NFL. I remember GB before Favre – no one wanted to play there. Your QB’s were named: Tagge, Wright, Whitehurst (all big stars I am sure) and how many Playoff Games did the team win in the 20 years prior to Favre’s arrival?
Maybe you should be grateful and quit believing the PR crap that Ari Fleisher is spreading in the media about Favre. Please remember, your team gave Ari about $5.5M dollars to implement a multi year campaign against Favre!
it would be a pleasure to watch Favre retire a viking, go into the hall as a viking and smite the packer fans for being classless throughout his career. (or maybe you can give Favre some money and bribe him into rejoining your pathetic franchise)

    Exactly.

  13. Chicken’s right guys. Vikes are fine with it & whether or not anybody else thinks thats good or bad is pretty irrelevant. We’ll just have to wait for 2010 season. I’d say barring a disaster of some type Favre will be back under center in Purple — so be it.
HOwever, if it makes you feel better to get your digs in — have at it. At least it makes a slow day at work go by faster.

  14. They’re is nothing Childress can say or do. Favre is under contract, either he retires or comes back. Childress can’t force a decsion one way or the other. So he is saying what he needs to say and addressing the issue the best he can. The Vikings need to try and draft a qb for the future regardless of what Favre does.

  15. Sounds like there is a bunch of haters on here, more than likely who’s team didnt make it near as far as the Vikes…keep talking dumbasses!
As far as Favre, just let it play out. Do you really think he is going to wait til the last minute again this year??? He built such a good relationship with all of the teamates i just dont see him doing that to them…wait, maybe thats why he couldnt decide for years with the packers, cause his teamates and organization sucked!
    SKOL Vikings!

  16. This guy IS our franchise at least for the next season, two. I personally would prefer an answer sooner than later, but given what we have riding the pine, I’m willing to wait.
I dont care what Child-dress has to do, or not do, or ‘un-do’ to get him back.
    Just do it!

Actually, if you listen to KFAN and certain players interviewed lately, you would realize that they all want a decision sooner than later. Ben Leber was just talking about how hard it is to be unsettled at that position going into the offseason OTA’s, so suck it! Good thing is, the Vikings can waffle in the wind while Brent takes his good ol’ time. When you’re desperate and have crap at QB, that’s the hand you’re dealt.

  18. Article comes out about anything Favre and all Packer fans begin to menstruate. Bitter, constipated on too much Favre losers…

  19. Viqueen fans get so upset when we mock the Favre “will he, won’t he, he loves me, he loves me not” drama. Calm down, Queens. Go get yourself a tissue.

  20. “With the secure knowledge that he can return whenever he wants, it would be a big surprise at this point if Favre didn’t return.”
THAT is the key statement. despite what Favre haters, Packer fans seem to presume about the desires of the Vikings, they WANT him to come back, and they are doing what they can to get the 41 year old back in Eden Prairie.
I for one, am willing to put up with all the negative comments like every offseason, because when Brett rolls onto the field and the Vikings steamroll team after team, they all shut up and their summer comments become irrelevant.
go Brett go! (and since when did Brett “demand” any fans to put up billboards for him, or was it his mere presence that “demanded it”. Sort of like his “mere presence” got fans to build an entire new stadium for you cheese sniffing ingrates.)

  21. HAHAHA Every single one of you anti Viking posters are the Vikings bitches! You all HOPE that Favre doesnt come back and as a result you come on here to bash the Vikings for it. Thats ok, look at this thread and note that every single anti-Vikings poster on here is a bitch owned by the Vikings. Dont wanna be a Vikings bitch then stop hating. Simple. HAHAHA…bitches!

  22. last starfighter………Keep telling yourself that and maybe someday you will actually believe it. Im sure you will be wareing your green and gold Zubaz and Starter jacket watching Jay Leno next week!!

  23. FavRey just doesn’t want to do all the off season bullshit. He has earned that right to do so…..I am sure he has given them some indication of what his plans are, and is most likely coming back. I hope he does, he makes the Packer/Viking rivalry a lot more fun to watch.
With that being said, I will root against him until he retires because he IS the starting QB for my least favorite team.
I understand he wanted out…. The Packers wanted him gone… It was mutual. But what really pisses me off is idiot fans that bash the Packers for “breaking Brett’s heart” and “pushing him out”. BULLSHIT….. FavRey wanted out…. That was the only way to get out of Green Bay. This is a business everyone. You can not give away an asset to your biggest rival. So TT did the right thing, and ANYONE who thinks differently is obviously not a businessman.
So to all you Packer haters, PLEASE do some RESEARCH before you speak of topics that you are not too familiar with…

  24. “Looks like everyone in the Vikes orginization is fine with whenever he decides……”
What choice do they have? They let him turn them all into his bitches last season, what are they gonna do now, get tough with him? He owns them, just like when he was with the Packers. Some things never change.

  25. Yeah, Favre was talking “landscaping” with Childress like he was talking “hunting” with Matt Millen in 2008 when he was busted for trying to help the Lions gameplan for the Packers.
Favre was giving Childress his terms for a comeback and, as usual, Chilly was assuming the position for Favre’s rear entry. I bet Favre didn’t even have the common courtesy to give Chilly a reach around.

  26. OK – I have to say something after reading the other comments – do Viking fans REALLY think Favre will have yet ANOTHER career year? He had a GREAT year against weak teams. I think most REAL Packer fans HOPE he comes back.
After all – he did exactly what most predicted he would do right? And in the end REAL Packer fans were very happy.
Favre is coming back – I have no doubt about it. And it’s a good thing. Favre took BIG wins away from the Packers and now he can take BIG wins away from the Vikings.
Favre can not win the BIG games. He is great against the average teams but in the long run in the BIG games he is a choker.

As evident by going 6-10 and 1 and done wildcard after they were 13-3 with Favre? You do realize the Packers easily win the division in 2009 and get a first round bye if the Vikes didn’t have Favre, right?
It was just another in a long line of poorly handled and disastrous decisions made by TT during his tenure in GB.

    Dear “Superbowl”,
Funny shit! In reality, that’s a very appropriate name for you. Even more appropriate would be “Trophy-less”.
Let’s see… the Vikes have been to 4 Superbowls- lost 4. Now you think #4 can get you to finally win 1 at age 41? BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA! Packer fans “classless”?? Even if that were true- I would much rather be a “classless”, poor winner- than a “classy”, sore loser. Remember what Lombardi said… “…it’s the ONLY thing.”
Just admit it: Favre should throw in the towel already. Oh yea- if he did that, it would probably be intercepted.

  29. “Maybe you should be grateful and quit believing the PR crap that Ari Fleisher is spreading in the media about Favre. Please remember, your team gave Ari about $5.5M dollars to implement a multi year campaign against Favre!”
Exactly. And TT has the Wisconsin press so much in his pocket, that nobody will even investigate this. No team in NFL history paid an outside PR rep to orchestrate a negative PR campaign against on of their own players. But TT did! That is why many in Wisconsin can’t stand TT, despite the relative success this year.

  30. And just what the hell was Chilly doing at the Combine? It’s common knowledge he has no idea how to evaluate talent. That’s why he has to perform sexual favors for Brent to get him to play in Minnesota. They certainly have no clue how to draft and develop a QB for the future of the franchise. Oh well, it won’t be long until the Purple Penis Eaters can scout the local UCLA/USC talent in the Los Angeles area.

  31. “Favre is coming back – I have no doubt about it. And it’s a good thing. Favre took BIG wins away from the Packers and now he can take BIG wins away from the Vikings. ”
So who is taking BIG wins away from the Packers now? ohh, that’s right, Rodgers awesome two chokes in OT against Arizona. The overthrow of a WIDE freakin open Jennings who had a clear path to the endzone in OT. And then his subsequent kick of the ball to the AZ DLineman for the loss! Rodgers hasn’t won one big game yet with the Packers. But he is sure good at racking up those garbage stats in what is now a pass first offense of the Packers where any QB would rack up those numbers with that group of all world WRs. .

Pretty weak argument you have there but I will humor you. Ok so you belong with the Packers as far as always wanting to bring up the past and never wanting to talk about how bad theyve been lately. Ok, fair enough. Lets see, who else doesnt have a ring, here we go : Vikings, Bengals, Bills, Eagles, Chargers, Falcons, Panthers, Titans, Seahawks, Cardinals, Lions, Browns, Jags, and Texans. Ok everyone, there is your list…SO WHAT!? Everyone who cant base a current argument will always go back to the past. SO WHAT!? Thats like the old schoolyard “Well my dad can beat up your dad” argument. The reply to that is, well your dad isnt here to stop me from beating you up. Congrats on the previous Lombardis but right now no one cares! Thats like being a preseason champ, it doesnt matter in the the regular season. Then in the post season no one really cares what your record was in the regular season. So are your past Lombardi’s making you champs this year? Not one damn bit! So let it go and admit the Vikings are a force to reckon with.

Atta boy. Logic rises up from the strangest places.

  40. This is exactly why Packers fans grew tired of his act. Treat him like royalty so he can act like he’s just “one of the guys”. Then he repays your team with throwing a blunder interception in the biggest game of the year when he could’ve just ran for 5 yards and kicked a field goal and been in the Super Bowl.

  41. We would expect that Favre would come back but it has to be humiliating for Childress to admit to the whole world that he has no control, Favre has all of it.
As a public service to all Viking fans, we can already tell you that this is not going to end well. Farve has a long track record of not doing well in the playoffs, so poor in fact that it might only be surpassed by the Vikings own playoff woes. So to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result is the definition of insanity.
So to suggest T Jackoff or Sage that might get you further might seem far fetched at first and there is no way to prove it but alas, it’s the truth. Kissing up to any one player in any team sport is never a good idea but for a franchise that has never won anything, good ideas are as rare as championship trophies of which the Vikings have none.

  42. Fan of Football
You must be contrasting Rodgers “choke” in playoff game to Favre’s recent playoff success…… you know a few years ago in Philly, nope not that one……. his game winning touchdown against the Giants in 07, nope strike that one…….oh, now I got it, his leadership in driving to the winning field goal against New Orleans………. ooops sorry, forgot Longwell did not get a chance to kick it.

  44. This is what happens when you let a guy like Favre have his way. Your franchise crumbles by finishing 3rd in ratings, almost tops in attendance percentage, humiliating your main rival and crushing the legacy of their hero, obliterating the hated Cowboys in the playoffs, going to the NFC championship game, and having one of the most memorable overall seasons in Vikings history and in all likelyhood going to have the same type of season with the same exact players next year.
Us Packer fans were right all along. Favre screwed you guys over royally. With McCarthy and Thompson at the helm we are looking at years of medioc…I mean awesomeness while you guys will be lucky to go 14-2 next year.
Man it feels good being right.

  45. I guess my idea of a new counter on the home page titled, “Days Without a Favre Story” was way too optimistic. Even my idea of “hours” was going too far. Let’s make that 58 MINUTES since the last Favre story before this one was posted…….

  46. Fan of Football- Thankyou for setting aside the time to be humiliated on this public forum. Point blank- you, my purple friend, are an asshat.
It must be because of Green Bay’s “Pass first offense” that their 1,300 yd halfback didn’t fumble the ball at all last season, and how their QB led all NFL QB’s in rushing yards and TDs. It’s also funny how not a single one of their “all world” WR’s made the Pro Bowl. Rodger’s bettered Favre’s stats last season AND the season before. I can only imagine what next year will be like.
True… Rodgers hasn’t won a single big game in his first two full seasons. It is also true that Favre hasn’t won a single BIG game for the Vikings (He only won one of them for the PACK… two if you count his last game against the Saints).

And just like I said last preseason- Unless the Queens win it all- it will be a MONUMENTAL collapse for the Favre family, the Minnesota Viking organization, all of their fans, the whole state of Minnesota AND every single FAVRE fan that quit on the Packers when Brent did.

Sando- WTF!?! Are you even old enough to buy lottery tickets yet? It feels good to be right?? Who the F_CK cares what it feels like to be right?!! FOOTBALL IS ABOUT WINNING CHAMPIONSHIPS- NOT BEING RIGHT! The fact of the matter is, neither team has done a thing for us lately… unless you call kicking a first ballot waffler to the curb for a Pro Bowler with at least a decade left in the tank (and getting a draft pick and $10+ million cap space for doing so…) OR hiring a 40 year old, gray-haired, former arch rival that I hated for 16 years to help out our fumbling All Pro, All Day Baby RB by tossing a pick when EVERYTHING mattered.
Yup… what have either of those teams done for us lately???
I would say both teams accomplished something very, very good for a world full of Green Bay Packer fans.

  52. Hey, Brett. Come on back! Brees and the Saints will take you to school AGAIN. Maybe they didn’t pound you hard enough last time.

  53. All you Vikings fans are donkeys, you don’t even know who your QB is going to be next year, while you do have some great players. The QB situation is something that WILL hurt you in FA. People like LT and Westbrook want to play for a team with a PROVEN QB. You can’t even give PROOF of who your QB is next year. Talk all the crap you want, this is what could VERY well happen, if Favre doesn’t come back your gonna go BACK to POUNDING the rock since you don’t have someone calling audibles every other play. Peterson has a history of injuries, and with his running style and the increased carries he would need to take on, it sounds like a recipe for him being out 4-6 weeks. Then what will you do? Talk about how your backups outplay everyone when you lose.

Lets see…Favre single handedly cost his team playoff games against the Rams, Falcons, Vikings, Cowboys (2 times), Giants, and most recently the Saints.
Rodgers loses one playoff game…his first by the way, to a team that put up 45 points against his team’s defense AND after HE scored 45 points following a “Favreian” INT on his first pass….and he’s a choker.
Choker = any Vikings team playing in any decade with any washed up, prima donna QB.

    Thank you Ted!!!

  58. Contra… what I mean is- leave here now. Your bulb is actually a black hole- having sucked the brightness out of you years ago and now trying to do the same thing within this blog. Goodbye and- thanks for the effort.

  59. Did he say he won’t put Favre in any box, or “Favre can put it in my box.” Well either way we will know in late July or early August, or after another 1,000 stories about Favre, whichever comes later. Only two reasons for Favre to come back. 1:$. 2: to keep the records he “could care less about” away from Manning. He has to know that if he didn’t make it to the Super Bowl this year with a relatively soft schedule and a team that only had a couple of major injuries, he’s probably never going to make it. And if he comes back he runs the risk of getting crippled, and of going out with a much worse final year, and of not being able to say he got perfect revenge on Thompson and McCarthy. But he’ll be back; see reason #1.

  60. Favre was awesome for the Vikings last year. People want so bad for his INT to have been the deciding factor but it really wasn’t. An incomplete would have resulted in overtime. He led a good 2 minute drill for all the marbles and then forced a pass in a situation where we NEEDED a completion to win. We all know that. The only audience for your “Favre choked” comments are yourselves because that is not how Vikings fans view him and what he did. Not to mention the Vikes outgained the Saints 2:1 and lost because of 3 fumbles that lead to 21 points worth of differential.
Vikings fans put up better ratings than the cheezers and had better attendance percentages last season. Our team crushed yours. We went deeper into the playoffs. We 34-3 stomped a team better than the one that beat you guys. We lost by a hair on the road to a team that won the super bowl easily over the Colts on a neutral field.
You can come up with every stupid little argument you want but no matter how you cut it we outdid you guys last year. Tuck your little tails, run home, and get ready to come out swinging next season. We took your honor and it is on your team to try to get it back.
And remember, the Vikes were good before Favre came and will be good after he leaves. The same can NOT be said about the Packers. At least not yet.

All you Vikings fans are donkeys, you don’t even know who your QB is going to be next year, while you do have some great players. The QB situation is something that WILL hurt you in FA. People like LT and Westbrook want to play for a team with a PROVEN QB.
    ————————————
Really? Cause if I got cut from a football team then I would go play for anyone that gave me a paycheck. Call me crazy, but if you lost your job today i bet you would go work for the first paycheck that came your way.

  62. J-Dub – “Lets see…Favre single handedly cost his team playoff games against the Rams, Falcons, Vikings, Cowboys (2 times), Giants, and most recently the Saints.
Rodgers loses one playoff game…his first by the way, to a team that put up 45 points against his team’s defense AND after HE scored 45 points following a “Favreian” INT on his first pass….and he’s a choker. ”
That’s what I love about these idiots, the defense (2nd rated in the league) “all of a sudden” became a problem this year. It wasn’t a problem when it was giving up 4th and 26 plays, or 3 first qtr TDs to Vick and Co, or 4 Favre INTs coming off his own WRs hands, or the 200 rushing yards and 40 min of possession they gave up in the NFCC game. Nope, those were all Favre’s fault. But Arizona, nope, that was the defense that time. Not AR’s two time choke in OT. LMAO!!! The hypocrisy is so transparent.

  63. He’s going to come back and sweep the Pack again.
Seriously, how sad is it that the Pack can’t beat a 41 year old QB, to extropolate even further, they lost to Warner, Favre and Roethlisberger (quarterbacks that know what they’re doing). The Pack have the oldest CB’s in the league and will get sliced and diced again.
Aaron Rodger did CHOKE by the way. The first pick he threw in that game made them play catch up (putting team in bad position, check) and the fumble at the end was precipitated by a deep passs he badly missed on that would have ended the game (check). Then, he managed to hold onto the football too long and dropped the ball (check). Two turnovers, leading to 14 points……..didn’t choke you say? Choked in a WILDCARD game. Pathetic.
Favre was the sole reason they were in the game and remained close in the game to begin with. AP blew that game, pure and simple.
Pack fans have heartburn thinking about HIS return.

That sounds like you have way too much prior knowledge of the act…..and it’s a little disturbing I might add.

Oh ok so because you spoke its gotta be so? Wrong. You began talking about bulbs and black holes…brightness. Wow, did you give much thought into this or were you plagiarising poems? Or maybe I struck a sensitive nerve which, if its the case, perhaps YOU are the one who should leave so that your feelings will no longer be hurt. After all, these are just letters on a computer screen for you right? No reason to get butt-hurt!

    ————————————————–
    1) There was a completion right in front of him in the form of a WIDE OPEN Bernard Berrian along the sideline at the 30…..which would’ve set up a very doable 47 yarder indoors.
    2) He also could’ve run for AT LEAST 5 yards and set up a very doable FG attempt.
    3) I’d call you a total and complete hypocrite for defending Brat Favre to this degree after you likely dished on him for years for his turnover while wearing a Packers uniform…..but then it’s obvious from your posts that you didn’t even start watching Vikings football until the 2009 season.
    4) The turnovers were FORCED by the Saints defense. Since you like quoting meaningless stats…have a gander at this one:
    Favre = 3 turnovers in NO (2 INT’s and 1 Fumble Lost
Oh, and as for those attendance numbers…..it doesn’t count when TV networks have to buy up remaining seats to avoid a blackout so they can show the game. None of you people were there before #4 came to town. In fact, only 29% of Minnesota fans even wanted him in the first place. Bandwagon jumpers much? LOL!!!!!!!

  67. For a “Steelers” fan, CaptainFantastik seems to be awfully emotionally invested into Brett Favre. A QB that’s played in a different conference for 18 out of his 19 years. Sure, we believe you Captdork.
    1) He was not wide open, he had two defenders on him. A CB a couple yards away on one side and the sideline on the other.
    2) It’s funny, you guys say the guy is old and slow but somehow he was going to beat two CBs and a LB to the 5 yard mark down the field when they were 10 yards away as he approached the line of scrimmage. Favre would have gotten 2 – 3 yards at the most. Still near a career high for Longwell when the Saints would have rushed his kick harder then any kick he did in his career.
    4) Aren’t they all forced by the D? That’s the point doufus, you are supposed to protect the ball from the D and not allow them to strip it. btw, everybody knows that fumble wasn’t on Favre, it was on Peterson. This is established and fact.
“Oh, and as for those attendance numbers…..it doesn’t count when TV networks have to buy up remaining seats to avoid a blackout so they can show the game.”
Actually, it very much does since he was talking about attendance %. That means the number of people who actually pass through the turn-styles and fill the seats in the game. Not who buys the tickets. So it is actually a much more meaningful measure of the loyalty of a fan base. But somebody of your intelligence would have a hard time figuring it out.
Now tell us again how much of a Steelers fan you are even though you own about half of the 70 posts in this thread and other Viking/Packer related threads. We believe you.

  68. Brett will do what he wants when he wants, and Brad has to understand this. Brett is the leader of this team not Brad.

It’s funny that all of a sudden the Packer defense (2nd best in the league btw in 09) is all of a sudden a problem. The last time Favre had a 2nd ranked D or better, he won the SB. Rodgers lost in the wildcard with it. But it’s so funny that the defense is all of a sudden a problem now that Favre is out of town yet it wasn’t when it was giving up 4th and 26 plays, or having Vick run all over them and scoring 3 TDs in the first qtr, or giving up 200 yards rushing and 40 min of possesion in the NFCC game. Nope, those were all Favre’s fault. I am sure 4 out of the 6 INTs Favre threw against St Louis were his fault too even though they went off his WRs hands? Yep totally Favre’s fault that he didn’t lead those “great” (*snicker*) Packer teams with such “great” (*snicker*) Head Coaches and GMs such as Sherman, McLardy, and Thompson to the SB. Because they were such SB caliber teams (sarcasm). Now go make me a sandwich hypocrite.

  71. Keep trying Fan of Favreball.
Go watch the video again “dufus”. When Favre decides to throw the ball to Porter there was nobody within 7 yards of Berrian. Wide open. And of course there’s the issue of the wide open green pasture in front him where he could’ve run as wild and free like an Alaskan Elk to get his team in FG range. But NOOOOOOOOO. He had to throw “BACK ACROSS THE MIDDLE!!!” (to quote Joe Buck) and cost his team the game and the season…….as has been the case in 7 of this decade’s first 10 NFL seasons with whatever team Favre played on.
As for me and Favre…….i’m actually a former Favre fan and am simply one of millions who came to realize what a complete phony this guy is on every level. I simply enjoy calling out the retards who continue to defend this guy…..and I do it very well if I do say so myself. You are simply one of many casualties left in my wake.

I would go to the job that would give me the best chance for success. I am not gonna work some craphole where there is no room to grow or improve. LT, or Westbrook, probably not gonna wind up in Cleveland or Oakland right? They want someone with a PROVEN QB, Why do you think the Packers had to work the Woodson deal so hard, he didn’t know if Favre was coming back or not., and they have played on contenders and haven’t won the big game yet they have come close to tasting it, but they want that ring before they are done.

  73. Jilted Lover: “.as has been the case in 7 of this decade’s first 10 NFL seasons with whatever team Favre played on.”
ohh, the “first” 10 seasons of this decade, eh? As opposed to the last 10 seasons of the decade, or middle 10 season of the 10 year decade? lol, now I know the intelligence level I am dealing with.

  74. You bring up a great point though pretend Steelers fan, that even though people like you considered Favre hit his downturn of his career at the turn of the Millennium, he still made the playoffs 7 out of 10 years. WOW! Who else has done that? Payton maybe? Brady? That’s it. A very rare feat for a QB in this age of coaching turnover, free agency, and the Salary cap. To make the playoffs 7 out of 10 years is just amazing. Just shows how great Favre really is, one of the all time greats. And he did it all in a poor weather climate, he didn’t have the advantages Manning has had playing inside. Throw in incompetent coaches and GMs Favre had in GB (i.e. Sherman, McLardy, and TT) it makes the feat all the more amazing.
7 out of 10 season, playoff bound. WOW! Thanks for opening our eyes on how great Favre is CaptDork.

  75. If 7 of 10 is great, what is 6 of the last 10? That’s the real number FoF – 6 not 7. The same number the great Dilfer/Banks/Grabec/Boller/McNair/Flacco combo has gone – 6. The same as Pittsburgh and the NY Giants – 6. Not 7. 7 would be Brady, 8 would be McNabb and 9 would be Manning. 6 trips to the playoffs and 4 wins wow.

This list of casualties includes the English language. Keep it up Capt! Very funny!

  77. In a parallel universe somewhere, Favre didn’t throw that game-ending interception. He handed off to All Day, the Vikings won the NFC, and the Vikings went on to defeat the Colts in the Super Bowl. Not that unlikely.
Now, if Chilly won a Super Bowl with Favre at the helm, and followed that with many years of futility, how would he be any less of a “genius” than Holmgren?

  78. The Vikings aren’t doing anything stupid it’s smart not putting a timeline on Favre, he played fine last season without OTA’s, TC and Offseason workouts, he now has (and throughout the season had) great chemistry with his receivers so there’s no getting used to them this season and he’s proved he doesn’t have to learn the Vikings system…. and honestly what else should they do? Tarvaris is the franchise QB and Sage is a competent game manager and fine back up, they’ll work out with those guys this offseason. They have the 30th pick in the draft none of those “great starter-ready” (Clausen and Bradford, MAYBE McCoy) QB’s entering the draft will not be available at that point most likely, so any one they draft (Tebow, Pike, LeFevour) will most likely be a project just like Jackson, we draft Defensive and Offensive line guys and some guys for the secondary and the team is stronger than last year… Yeah, the Vikings are REAL desperate, in fact, they’re such a desperate and “pathetic” team, that ‘fans’ of rival teams flock to their articles….

  79. What makes me laugh out loud is that people like FoF and other Favreopians continue to propogate the notion that the book of excuses for Favre is 50,000+ pages long, and the book of excuses for any and every other NFL player is one sentence long.
Bottom line, Favre is a coddled punk who has nothing else in his life but football, is deeply troubled that his records WILL fall eventually, and is ALL about the money. I am all for him playing another year, never before in the history of the NFL has a season and Superbowl trip been given to a player on a silver platter….the only problem, Favre puked on that platter and now will hold everyone in Minny on the edge of thier seat until July. With the false hopes of another magical regular season and a choke in the playoffs.
Why do you even ponder passing?
