Polian: Nothing “imminent” with Brackett

Speaking on the NFL Network Monday, Colts G.M. Bill Polian said he is in constant contact with the agent for Gary Brackett, but is not close to a deal.

“We’d very much like to get something done, but I can’t say anything is imminent,” Polian said. “As we get closer to the deadline, maybe that will move things some. I’m hopeful.”

Polian’s former colleague Charlie Casserly asked about how the year ended, and Polian didn’t tell him that past was prologue.

“Great year, but it didn’t end the way you want it. Kind of like the U.S. Hockey team . . . silver medals. Great,” Polian said sarcastically before reflecting that it was an outstanding year.

Polian spoke with Saints coach Sean Payton Sunday night.

“They are a very deserving team. They had a great year and had a great game plan going into the game. They took the big gambles and risks it took to win the game. When we had an opportunity to make plays, we didn’t make as many as they did.”
