With starting defensive tackles Pat and Kevin Williams potentially missing four games this year due to the StarCaps situation, the Vikings need to have solid guys in place behind them.
One of them is Fred Evans, a restricted free agent.
Per a league source, the Vikings have tendered Evans at the second-round level.
Evans will be eligible to receive a one-year salary in the amount of $1.759 million. But since 110 percent of his 2009 salary is $1.6995 million, Evans can hold out until the eve of the regular season and lose only $60,000 in salary.
