Bucs trim a trio

Last year, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers unloaded a bunch of veteran players.

This year, on the eve of free agency, they’ve cut only three.  And two of them are punters.

Gone are Josh Bidwill and Dirk Johnson.  Also gone is cornerback Torrie Cox.

Bidwell spent six years in Tampa; Johnson arrived last year as an injury replacement.  Cox was a sixth-round draft pick of the team in 2003.

Shame to see Bidwell leave. He is a Pro Bowl punter who is excellent at getting balls inside the 20. But old punters coming off season ending injuries don’t usually get retained

Why on Earth wouldn’t they at least take Bidwell into training camp? Is he still hurt?

Farewell Bidwell. That guy was a great punter, if there is a such a thing. They cut Tori Cox??? The streets of Tampa just got a little safer…
