To tender Coolidge at a 2nd rounder says more about the Packer mgmt and coaches evaulations of players talents…….I doubt there is a team that would give up a 4th rounder for him. Doesn’t look good for the Pack’s offensive line again next year if they value collidge that much.

He’s a maddeningly inconsistent player. Coming off of 2008, there were serious reasons to think he was going to take the next step and become a very solid LG. Unfortunately, he took the next step two times… backwards. So while in 2008, he would have some very good games, and some very bad games… in 2009 all he could manage is a coupld of good plays punctuated with a bad play or two to cap it off. But when your offensive lineman is giving up bad plays on like 1/4 of plays, he’s simply playing badly no matter how well he does the remaining 3/4 of the time.
I think part of the reason he was pissed is that the Packers were working on an extension with him before the 2009 season, and it dragged on into the season where Daryn’s performance on the field reduced his value significantly.

Out of I believe 61 games started for GB, he started 55 at LG. They asked him to suck it up for 3 games last year at LT and just hold the fort and he turned in three poor performances. He was barely moved around at all. He’s full of excuses and that’s it.

The guy gave up 8 sacks at guard. That’s an astonishing feet. Not to mention in all the time he’s been there he’s played a handful of games at tackle and he complains about moving around? The guy is just not that good. He graded out as the worst lineman on a bad line. First round my a$$. I know for a fact the Packers considered not tendering him at all. At least this way they can keep him cheap for depth, or best case scenario, they get some quality guys and cut his ass for nothing.

We’re set on the right side with Lang And Sitton. We got Wells at Center, with Spitz and Dietrich-Smith to back him up. The question marks are at LG and LT.
Spitz will compete with Colledge at LG. LT is wide open, although Clifton will probably be back. Cliffy’s breaking down.
Colledge got thrown to the wolves at LT for a couple games, without having practiced there all preseason. This got inside his head and he ended up struggling at LG too.
Dude needs to stfu and pull his shit together. Maybe his wife will write an op-ed criticizing the skeptics.

Colledge sucks. He can’t play tackle or guard, but he’s always the first guy on scene to help up a tackled Packer player after the play so that College can be on tv. College is too weak and inconsistent to play guard and doesn’t have the arm length or footwork to play tackle. It would be great if we could get a 4th round pick for him, let alone a 2nd round pick. I don’t see any other team being interested in him.

@Lex- Wells played well after Spitz went down. He’s not a good guard, but he does well as a center. I think that line looks a lot better like this.

Colledge and that wife of his have lost their marbles. She wrote an article in the Press Gazette about how Packer blog sites shouldn’t be so harsh to the offensive line. “They are people, too.” My response to her blog was, “If you don’t want to read about how bad your husband sucks, don’t read these threads at all. I’d get the riot act at my job if I consistently underperformed and didn’t improve, and believe it or not, I don’t make $1.4 Million/year.”

Truth is….he was never drafted early by the Packers to play LT. That was NEVER talked about by management. He was drafted and projected from day one to be a guard.

Wrong. He played over 90+% of his snaps at left guard and was ok in 2008 and terrible at left guard in 2009. Nobody is knocking him for his play at LT since he was a fill in and playing out of position.

Needs to improve on field performance and stop with the TV shows/internet stuff. On field is what counts and improvement is needed or he will be a backup lineman. Thinks he grades out better than performance.

The OL is shaping up nicely for next year already. Hope Rodgers is preparing himself for another painful season.
I will say in his defense, this ridiculousness of the Packer scheme where 1 guy gets hurt and 4 guys have to switch positions is umm flawed.

Colledge is upset because he feels that being forced to play some games at left tackle (I think four), and right tackle (one) have hurt his development. This doesn’t include moves due to in game injury situations.
Darren; I doubt anyone was going to give up a second rounder for you, and now that you’ve shown a “me first” attitude that’s almost a given. There’s only two people who think you’re worth the first round tender, and you married one of them. Time to get your head out of your ass. You’re a jouneyman. You’ve had plenty of opportunities to show you’re ready to go to the next level and you’ve failed to do so. Be thankful you’re even in the NFL, which stands for “Not For Long” for most guys with your production. You were lucky to land on a rebuilding team that was switching to the zbs, otherwise you’d never have gotten a chance to play at all. Now shut up and go get another tattoo.
