Marshall not on Bengals radar

Every team with a need at wide receiver is getting linked to Brandon Marshall.

Joe Reedy, who does yeoman’s work for the Cincinnati Enquirer, wants everyone to know they can stop linking the Bengals to him.

Yeah, yeah, Marshall would help fill the team’s knucklehead quota.  But Mike Brown is loathe to give up a draft pick, using his first-round pick every year since 1989.

Reedy suggests that one former Bengal is a more likely target.  Kevin Walter is our second-ranked free agent wide receiver and he won’t cost anything except a big contract to acquire.

Kevin Walter, big contract? He’s Tony Scheffler except blocks better. He may be the 2nd ranked WR, but he offers more to a running team than a team interested in passing the ball 30-40 times like Cincinnati wants to.

Marshall will be in Cincy….once a year to play them in purple and black!

Just remember…Mike Brown refused to take all of New Orleans’ draft picks for the Bengals’ first rounder and selected…
    wait for it…
    Ki-Jana Carter!
Then again, I could not imagine what Mikey-boy would have done with double the draft picks in rounds 2 through 7 back then…he would have had to change his underwear at least twice that day.

Mike Brown giving up a 1st round draft pick and a big contract to get a player is about as likely as Peter King picking a super bowl winner…

Most of those were top 10 picks and most were busts or average players. Time for a new game plan Mike

Combine every year after 1989 and they have a losing record. Then combine every year 1989 and before minus the first two seasons and they have a winning record. Pull the trigger Mike we need this!!!!

this is the typical mike brown bullcrap that has cincy fans so pissed off every year. if he wants to sell more PSL’s and get more money, he needs to show the fans that hes serious about winning. Getting Marshall for the 21st pick is a no brainer. get it done brown

This doesn’t make it any better, but it was Akili Smith, not Ki-Jana Carter.

    Akili Smith

This guy should be on everyone’s radar. I know his character issues and this and that but what good WR doesn’t ? Chad, TO, Irvin, Randy. He’s looking to get paid and he should. The guy caught 100+ the past few years, is a beast to cover and has great hands (22 Catches in a game I believe last year). If a team is in desperate need of a WR you’d be foolish not to get this guy. I hope the Jets do, we sure can use him. Who is best WR in draft, Dez Bryant. He already is coming in to the league being lambasted by people from OSU and the combine. He is next in line to be a diva.

Coles was just cut. Is there any way that this news is a smokescreen and that the Bengals will pursue Marshall? My guess is that Walter is the top on their list and Marshall is second…

  16. I_C_Deadpeople says: Mar 4, 2010 3:42 PM

Yes indeed it was Achille Smith.
But Mikey did trade the #5 pick and his 2nd rounder to Carolina to the #1 spot to take Ki-Jana Carter

  17. ricebowl says: Mar 4, 2010 4:22 PM

marshall to chicago? explain how that could happen when he has a first round tender and the bears only have 3rd and later

  18. goetta-head says: Mar 4, 2010 7:57 PM

Walter ? Marshall or Boldin please. But Bengal fans will have to settle for Walter. Dont worry, we’re used to it by now

  19. whodey09 says: Mar 5, 2010 12:12 AM

im sayin boldin to bengals.. id rather see someone that can stretch the field than a possesion reciever.

No one in Cincinnati listens to Reedy, why should you? You want credibility, don’t quote Reedy or Chick Ludwig. Hacks.
