This morning we passed along a report that the Atlanta Falcons had tendered running back Jerious Norwood at the first-round level. But it turns out that the Falcons actually tendered Norwood at the second-round level.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has updated its report to say that Norwood got the second-round tender, meaning that if another team signs Norwood to an offer sheet, the Falcons can either match it or take that team’s second-round pick.
At the first-round level it’s a sure thing that Norwood wouldn’t have gone anywhere. At the second-round level it’s not quite such a sure thing, but it’s probably safe to say that after a disappointing 2009 season, Norwood isn’t going to make any team part with a second-round pick.
A four-year veteran, Norwood is coming off a 2009 season in which he had career lows for carries (76), yards (252), yards per carry (3.3) and touchdowns (zero).
