VoxVeritas: Almost all of the good draft picks the Cowboys have had the past decade come courtesy of draft wizard Bill Parcells.
Unfortunately for the Cowboys, The Tuna left that team several years ago, and all they have left are some of those Parcells draft gems like Jay Ratliff, DeMarcus Ware, and Terrence Newman.
With Jerry and Wade picking the players now and doing stupid things like throwing away first round picks on subpar WRs, I doubt the Cowboys ever have as much success picking players as they did in the Parcells era.
If you don’t believe me, compare the drafting done during the Parcells years to the ones made after he left.

Oh, Perception…you walk right into the bear trap and lose your foot.
If Reid and McNabb are so tight, and McNabb is a “leader”, and “the franchise QB” and this is “his team” (all his words, he reminds us every day)…then why can’t he have a frank discussion with management and coach behind the scenes? Why not be honest about what you need?
I am not talking about getting the media involved. I am not talking about calling guys out in public, although the alligator body incident could have used some of that (not that McNabb talks to his teammates – or even looks at film – on the sideline of games).
He was the company man and did none of that. He abdicated his role as team leader.
As for “TO’ish” conduct – McNabb HAS gone there.
He DID throw Jackson and Maclin under the bus after he came up small for the 2nd of 3 tries against the Cowboys.
He DID blame the defense because they let up the lead against the Cardinals in yet another NFC title game we lost (despite that fact that JJ’s defenses carried him for the better part of a decade). Ignore the fact that he had the ball with the game on the line and threw hide and wide. And, as always, came up short. Let’s ignore his crying about the officials, a classic loser’s lament.
So, you don’t need to wonder what I’d have said. Look at my posts. I said McNabb was a coward, excuse-maker, and buck passer who came up small in yet another big game and then blamed it on “our youth”.
Again, the myth of McNabb as you’d like him to be vs. the reality of McNabb that he shows us time and time again. He is what he is. Deeds speak louder than words. But you pity him because 30 people booed him on draft day.
Always an excuse. Always directed in a passive-aggresive manner at younger teammates.
How ironic that you post under that name given your thoughts on this subject.

I would hardly say that cast was that much better than what McNabb had in the grand scheme. Given Belicheck’s coaching fraternity, their ball boy would get picked up if the Pats cut him loose.
As for enjoying Buddy’s 8-8 years. The team had more personality and excitement. It just did. The Body Bag Game. The House of Pain. The late TD to stick it to Tom Landry.
There was also more access to the team. Did anyone else go to minicamps at the field next to the vet? I remember standing there and having Seth Joyner and Jerome Brown running around us throwing helmets full of water on one another. A great memory. Now, I feel little connection.
Granted, I was younger then…and less jaded. But each week was an adventure with Buddy. And the players were lovable badasses. This team, sadly predictable and vanilla.
I look at Rex Ryan, and there are shades of Buddy. That was fun, man.

That was meant to say ANY QB can win in the Belicheat system. You say Branch, Brown and Givens didn’t amount to much after leaving NE? They all were signed as FA to leave NE. Pinkston never picked up, Mitchell picked up and dropped off by Chiefs who had NO WR’s. Torrence Smalls… I know… WHO? See the difference.

The best chance for the eagles to win now is to start Mcnabb. The best thing for the future is to start Kolb and the WORST thing for the present and future is to keep that bum Vick on the roster at all. I can’t believe some moron fans think that Vick is a better option than Mcnabb or Kolb.

scorpiodsu you might wanna check your facts the eagles also made the postseason with aj feeley when mcnabb and dentmer went down and he got them to the play offs and guess what happened they brought mcnabb back for the playoffs and he lost. shocker mcnabb lost a big game.

you are spot on, Jetstastic . Those have always been my thoughts exactly. the Eagles WCO is a quarterback friendly offense. It’s not necessary to have a super strong arm as McNabb supporters are prone to brag about. In fact, his super strong arm is indeed, a detriment to his accuracy and what makes Reid rely on 80% passing plays. But even the strong get tired eventually and that further deteriorates his accuracy as the game goes on. Kolb’s strength is in his smart decision making, footwork inside the pocket as he maneuvers around behind his blockers to find the open passing lanes instead of trying to loft them like McNabb and suffering innumerable blocked balls instead. he will only get better with more time behind center and becomes more familiar with defensive formations and alignments and audibles to the correct plays to defeat the pass rush and avoid sacks while completing passes. Now’s the time. We’re overdue for a change behind center.

You say no QB achieved more with less than McNabb. Then you cite an example in Tom Brady.
Because those weapons blew. David Givens, Deoin Branch, and Troy Brown (who I recall was also playing CB at the time). A very forgettable bunch, who never did anything after they left NE.

@ Voxveratis Scandrick gets burned like toast on a fire. Where is Jay Ratliff again? Miles Austin has had one HALF of a season where he has played good. And Barber won’t even be in a Cowboy uniform come August. Justice is now the Starting RT.
26-10 that’s what those 3 scores average out to still doesn’t equal 44-6.

Reid’s drafts are feast and famine. Some notable finds, but some real miserable misses. And I am not sure I ever saw another coach cut so many draft picks in training camp as Andy does. That is unforgiveable.

Amen Primetimemagik, Never in the history of football has a QB done more with less. Every WR that has played with Mcnabb once released from the Eagles has never been heard of again (T.O. the only exception). Peyton Manning had Had a WR that is at least 2nd ballot HOF. We won’t even mention Kurt Warner and his success years. Favre won SB with HOF calibre WR even though it was a never was that won the SB for the Packers that year. Eli Manning, though Burress is sure to NOT make the HOF trust me when I say he will NEVER have another season or game like he had that SB winning year.
Tom Brady. Tom has 3 SB wins though his first should have been Bledsoes’s. When he went down in 08 a QB that had not started a game since HIGH SCHOOL led the Patriots to an 11-5 record. Tom comes back and improves the team record by ONE GAME. Can you say system is working?
The only reason Garcia and Feeley had success under Reid is that the WHOLE GAME PLAN CHANGED for them. Instead of throwing 40-50 times a game they were asked to throw the 20-25 times a game and the running game took over. Again something Mcnabb has not had his entire career. Amen

I’d say making the playoffs 8 of 10 years and 5 NFC Championship games proves they’re trying pretty damn hard.
Only one team wins the Super Bowl every year. Being the 2nd or 3rd or 4th best team doesn’t mean you are doing the wrong thing and you start over. It means you’re close, and you keep trying. No, they haven’t won a Super Bowl yet. But they keep sniffing at it, and I’d rather keep going with the people that get me close than to blow it all up and start over with no guarantee that the team would have any success at all. I swear, some people must forget what it’s like to have Rich Kotite as your coach or Ty Detmer as your starting QB.

First off, ITALIAN LEPRECHAUN, you’re an idiot. You’re just basically contradicted yourself in your whole long, boring spiel ( I guess you just learned “sarcasm” and was trying to impress…)… you brought up all the Eagle’s dealings with elder Eagles in the past decade, and then talk about how bad the Eagles management is?! Trotter left, then came back for less money after a HORRIBLE year with the Redskins. Bobby Taylor and Troy Vincent left, then were never heard from again in the NFL. Lito Sheppard wanted more money, Eagles didn’t pay, and he got his $10 million from the Jets, now he’s looking for another job after being released from the Jets (bet they regret that contract). Which one of those decisions were bad for the Eagles… seems like each one was spot on… the Eagles kept them for long enough, then let them go when their talent wasn’t worth the money anymore and at the right time.
Also, all this McNabb choking talk is assinine… Who was McNabb (who threw 3 TDs that game) covering when Larry Fitzgerald ran seamlessly down the field to catch 9 receptions for 152 yards and 3 TDs?? Maybe he covered Deion Branch when he had 11 receptions for 133 yards in the Super Bowl (oh yeah, McNabb threw 3 TDs that game too). Or maybe it was McNabb’s fault that the defense gave up 29 points against St. Louis in the 2002 NFC Championship game (I’m sure the 24 points scored by the Eagles offense could’ve been done by your grandmother playing QB, but that’s besides the point…). Regardless, the Eagles, as an entire TEAM, did not show up in the major losses in the past 10 years. The defense, typically playing good at the time, would fail miserably, recievers would drop passes, and yes, McNabb would have a few plays that he would like back too, but overall, not one of those losses were ever McNabb’s fault… not even a little bit! So get facts straight before trying to post something intellectual!

Quarterbacks get too much credit when they win and too much blame when they lose. I’ve never understood why. I understand Eagles fans’ call for a change but to bash the man after all he has done?!? He’s played without a legitimate wideout threat for most of his career and has still performed at a top 10 qb level. The calls for Kolb are a little premature. Sure, he had 2 great games in McNabb’s abscence but part of that was because teams had no pro game film on him so they were unable to gameplan against him. A better measurement of Kolb’s readiness would be a full season, and even then that does not guarantee success (see Matt Cassell). Be grateful for what you do have (a proven top 10 qb) and be careful what you ask for….you might end up missing #5.

Off top of my head Q.Caver, T.Laws, V.Abwhatever his name is, Shaun Andrews over Wince Wilfork(I think if memory is correct, I know the 2 were close) J.McDougal 1st rd trade up there,
B.Smith(3rd rd guy who I’m not even sure if he ever suited up), There are more I’m just too burnt out to remember. Trades with Dallas so they can move up a few years ago and last season traded with the Giants so they could move up in the 3rd. Who trades with there hated rivals? On second thought I hate Andy Reid more then I already did thanks KINGKOLB YOU WORMBURNER

Forgot to mention McNabb/Kolb can’t even hold the Jocks of Montana and Young. I think the author was compairing the situation in Montana/Young went through to what McNabb/Kolb look to be heading into and not actually compairing the players. I think thats what the case was atleast
