Boldin trade close; Ravens, Chiefs, Patriots are interested

The Arizona Cardinals have multiple trade offers for wide receiver Anquan Boldin and are close to determining which one they’ll accept.

PFT has heard that the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots are all interested in acquiring Boldin from the Cardinals.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Cardinals have spent much of Friday weighing their offers and determining which one to take. Schefter says that right now, the Ravens are the leading contenders.

Although it was reported this week that the Cardinals wanted a third-round draft pick for Boldin, it’s possible that the presence of multiple bidders for his services has upped the price.

The 29-year-old Boldin had 84 catches for 1,024 yards and four touchdowns in 2009.

Agh, it looks like Miami is out of the hunt for Boldin. Damn. Well, now they have to focus their attention on Antonio Bryant!

  2. jjpt4540 says: Mar 5, 2010 4:06 PM

The Pats can easily get if they want him with 3 2nd round picks this year.

  3. Iggles fan says: Mar 5, 2010 4:06 PM

how is Philly not in on this deal…..thatz right we have a 5′ 9″ superstar who disappears in the REDZONE!

  4. PFTiswhatitis says: Mar 5, 2010 4:06 PM

Why would he want to go to the Ravens? Brady is clearly his best opportunity.

  5. Rico says: Mar 5, 2010 4:06 PM

I am a huge Chiefs fan and would love to see Boldin and Bowe as our top 2 WR’s!!! Come on Chiefs, make it happen!! I don’t want another year like the last several!!!!

  6. MNRunLeft says: Mar 5, 2010 4:07 PM

With 3 2nd round picks you’d think the Pats wouldn’t have a problem dealing one of them for Boldin, just a matter of signing him to an extension.

  7. neg_marron says: Mar 5, 2010 4:07 PM

come on Pats, make a move.

  8. nowathand says: Mar 5, 2010 4:07 PM

I hope he goes to New England.

  9. FootballFanatic718 says: Mar 5, 2010 4:08 PM

Why the hell didnt Dallas go for Boldin, get rid of that bum ass Williams and some draft picks

And so the team that was the 2008 and 2009 Cardinals is now falling apart.

  11. emoser says: Mar 5, 2010 4:10 PM

I know the eagles are set at wr, but for just a third round pick I wouldn’t mind seeing them pick him up. #1: Desean, #2: Boldin, #3: Maclin. That would be sick if they’re all healthy, and let us move on without a step if one got injured.

  12. RavensFreak00 says: Mar 5, 2010 4:13 PM

    Come on Ozzie, get him!!!!!

  13. Ches says: Mar 5, 2010 4:13 PM

Please oh lord please do not let him go to the Patriots. Come on Arizona, please do not pit him with Welker and Moss.

  14. Xpensive Wino says: Mar 5, 2010 4:13 PM

Seems like a great fit for the Patriots. Bryant would be great for Miami and they don’t have to give up anything (other than money) to get him.

  15. Chrisbelb says: Mar 5, 2010 4:13 PM

He would be an incredibly nice piece in the New England offense, especially given the uncertain timetable for Wes Welker’s return.
Here’s a what if, though….what if Baltimore locks up Boldin AND K Walter to team with Stallworth. I don’t think it’s likely they could afford to grab both guys, but that would probably result in one of the most significant upgrades to a receiving corps in the course of one offseason I could remember, at least on paper.

  16. ChicagoJo says: Mar 5, 2010 4:16 PM

Why stop now, Bears? Give them Olsen and make THEM throw in a 1st day pick. hahaha sorry too much koolaid today. Seriously, go get a guard.

  17. whodey says: Mar 5, 2010 4:16 PM

  18. Dasmol says: Mar 5, 2010 4:16 PM

The Pats picking up Boldin will go over real well with Moss.

  19. tomcous says: Mar 5, 2010 4:18 PM

That one is easy … no one will pay what Roy Williams is making and Jerry’s ego has been bruised too much lately. He wouldn’t be able to say he was wrong on another WR.

Watch him go to the most random team like the Lions.

  23. JPerkVA says: Mar 5, 2010 4:21 PM

Being a Ravens fan, I was really hoping for “Forgetting” Brandon Marshall to come to Baltimore, but Boldin would be a huge upgrade for us at WR, too. Either way Oz would is going to have to put some money up in new deals for any WR they may trade for. Hopefully Walter will sign, too. Joe will have some better quality weapons going into the 2010 season if things work out.

sorry, but if the Chiefs get Boldin, Bowe will be dealt. Bowe hates Haley and vice versa. They want Boldin as Bowe’s replacement. That’s ok….they can ship Bowe to Baltimore.

  30. mj23thegoat says: Mar 5, 2010 4:29 PM

Why would any one want peanut brittle Anquan Boldin when all it takes is a 1st rd pick for Brandon Marshall?

  31. Bertil says: Mar 5, 2010 4:34 PM

“The Patriots don’t pay” is an utter misnomer. They spend (or I should say have spent) at or near the cap every year. They just spend differently, investing more in mid level talent to maximize their roster. It hasn’t worked out too well of late, but that their M.O.

Umm, what was the score of that Ravens-Pats playoff game again???

  33. AZ Red Bird says: Mar 5, 2010 4:42 PM

    mj23thegoat – you may be retarded…
I believe everyone here saw what happened to Q at the Jets game then 2 games later he was playing…peanut brittle….
when a guy plays as hard as Q does…he’s going to get banged up. He’s got plenty of mileage left on his tank.
Any teams having to face him twice…look out.
49ers, Seattle and Rams fans are celebrating.

  34. Nambla Limbaugh says: Mar 5, 2010 4:47 PM

No way eagles are even interested, because Desean Jackson want a Big time Deal!!!!!!!! Not ebough money to go around. Philly needs to spend their money on O-line and a saftey.

  36. dwilkes023 says: Mar 5, 2010 4:53 PM

Chalk me up in the “Chiefs need to go get Boldin” column.
And I think Boldin, Bowe, and (hopefully if we get him back) Chambers, would be enough to give Cassel a chance at really being a great NFL QB. Especially with the run game taken care of by JC.

  37. DemocratsAreStupid says: Mar 5, 2010 4:53 PM

    ravens v. chefs
Gotta believe that the chefs get boldin and trade bowe to the ravens

Why would Miami not jump on this. They passed on him so Wanny could draft LB Eddie Moore. We all know how that turned out.

  40. Route36West says: Mar 5, 2010 5:06 PM

    Florio,
Does this mean if the Patriots sign Anquan Boldin that Randy Moss is on the Block?

  41. ITSMEJC says: Mar 5, 2010 5:14 PM

THE MORE I READ THE MORE PISSED I AM GETTING. BILL PARCELLS ARROGANCE IS SICKENING. WE NEED A #1 WR LIKE OSCAR THE GROUCH NEEDS AN ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT. HIS ARROGANCE MAKESME SICK IN BILL I DO NOT TRUST.

  42. kennethnoisewater says: Mar 5, 2010 5:26 PM

So instead of trading for a proven the commodity, the Pats can use their second round picks on more hall of famers like Patrick Chung and Ron Brace. Hooray (sarcasm)
