Dansby says he'll visit "every team"

Though free agent linebacker Karlos Dansby’s first trip will be to Miami, he’s also keeping watch on the Redskins.  And everyone else.

“Washington is definitely a place I’m looking at,” Dansby told Jason Reid of the Washington Post.  “My gate is wide open right now.  I’m going to take every visit.  I’m going in to every team to see what type of piece of the puzzle I will be.”

Possible translation?  “No one is willing to pay me what I want.”

“I do my homework, man,” Dansby said. “Any team that wants me to visit,
I do homework on ‘em.  I have to know how would I fit in.”

Right, but nothing says “fit” like “finances.”  The more money a guy is offered about that which he thinks he’s worth, the more loved he feels, the better fit he senses.

Dansby has earned franchise money each of the past two years.  As a result, he likely thinks/hopes he’ll be averaging $9 million or more per season on a long-term deal.  Thus, we think he needs to come to grips with the fact that his W-2 will be showing a much lower average number going forward.

Hey Al Davis, if you want to use your yearly “grossly overpaid free agent” on Dansby, it’d be a lot better than some of your other bonehead moves in the past.

No offense, but his numbers don’t warrant 9 mil a year.

Karlos, I’m sure Tuna made a generous offer, look at the bigger picture and leave some for your buddies Rolle and Boldin to sign with the fins and come enjoy South Beach’s hospitality!

I love that all of you pleebs are “shouting out” for K.D. to come to your town. Yes….of course he will use your post as the final motivation to schedule his visits…what else would he do? Most of you rank only SLIGHTLY higher than pro wrestling fans in terms of grasp on the way the world works. Oh, that damnable “buk lernin”…how it interferes with the Hulkster and your key-stroking of your own egos.

It’s crazy for him to think that he’s gonna make the same amount per year on a long-term deal as he did with the franchise tag. The reason they get paid so much with the tag is that it’s only a 1-yr deal. Long-term = security, security = less money. I bet he could get a 9 mill deal for one year from a lot of teams… but avg of 9 mill/yr for multiple years? No way. Except Al Davis or Dan Snyder, of course. Those crazy assholes might do anything.

dansby/rolle to miami would be fine by me but boldin i don’t know about, imo he’s not a good locker room/team guy. although he would probly produce more than ginn has for us anyway. i would love for dansby to head to south beach tho that would address a real need on d-fense

Geez chill out ebr, nobody claims to be talking to Dansby himself, they’re fans who’d like to see him on their team.
I bet you argue with your Cheerios in the morning too don’t you.

  25. DoomsDayD75 says: Mar 5, 2010 11:45 AM

It’s hilarious how Dansby thought that an uncapped year meant he was going to be getting serious money. Oops, looks like nobody wants to spend money without a salary cap you idiots.

First, only D-Bags who like people to think they are vastly smarter than they really are use words like “pleebs”(I’m a lawyer and you make us look humble).
Second, judging from your pro wrestling reference and your vocabulary choices, I have developed a mental picture of you. Let me guess, you have a pony tail and are currently wearing a “Thunder Cats” t shirt. YOU KNOW I’M RIGHT.

Unfortunately, this does not always translate into: “The more money a guy is offered about that which he thinks he’s worth, the more loved he feels, the better fit he senses…THE BETTER HE PLAYS”.
All too often, players “go git that money” (as even Suh & McCoy have encouraged each other to do), then pull a “JaMarcus”, & disappear their play to the point where the rest of the team resents them.
Nobody seems to acknowledge the fact that adjusting to having more money than you can ever possibly spend, may be more of an adaptation for some players than their new playbook &/or working with new teammates & coaches.
Patrick Roy is a NHL Hall of Fame Goalie. He was the first NHL goalies to get a $1M (that’s ONE Million) dollar a year contract. Suddenly, his play SUCKED. Years later, he admitted in an interview that the money messed with his psyche. It took him a couple of seasons, but he finally got back to form, & ended up ‘going out’ on top.
Personally, I think that if we actually SAW how some of these “it is what it is”-saying, xbox playing, bling wearing, cellphone carrying, ipod listening, Escalade driving, text messaging during practice-ing, club-hoppin’, “nomesayin’”-saying 20 something year olds LIVED, it might change the way we felt about football.
It’s better that we don’t know.
