David Carr must like hanging out with quarterbacks drafted first overall.
Carr will meet with the 49ers this weekend, according to Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger. The 49ers are apparently looking for an alternative behind Alex Smith.
As 49ers beat writer Matt Maiocco said, this says more about Shaun Hill’s status in San Francisco than it does Smith.
The Cardinals are also believed to have some interest in Carr, who has said he started enjoying football again while in New York.
His next stop, likely in the NFC West, should put him closer to getting on the field again.
Hey, Rich Gannon was basically useless too until he hit his 30s. Quarterback is so mental that sometimes guys don’t get it together in their 20s.
It’s amazing how much you can enjoy playing football when you’re not getting sacked 50+ times a year.
so the 49ers just like playing underachievers?
why don’t they look in the draft, Alex Smith , Shaun Hill, Nate Washington are not the answer
sorry i mean Nate Davis
The guy is a chump….When he played for the Texans he got my hopes up as a Bills fan. The first game of the Bills season was on Sept. 11 2005. David Carr got PWNED by the Bills and came out after the game and said “That was the best defence I have ever played against, everytime I tried to change it up, they were right on top of me”…..That year the Bills had a terrible season and the defence was atrocious. One of the only teams that was worse than the Bills was the Houston Texans under David Carr.
Trade for Russell and you can have the Holy Trinity of 1st overall QBs
I would swap Jamarcus for Carr, no questions asked. Under better conditions (ie offensive line protection), Carr could enjoy a Jim Plunkett-like rebirth. It’s amazing that he’s still upright, given all the hits that he took in Houston. He had zero chance of success under those conditions.
Trade for Russell? I’d trade you three packs of hot dogs for him, except for two reasons… 1) He’d eat them… 2) I’d get them right back on the back of his neck.
twinkletoes i agreee! i would take carr over russell any day.
He took enough hits in Houston to last him through his days as a Giant.

I’ll keep him locked in a cage away from the hot dogs.
We have a deal, nice doing business with you.
Carr over Shaun Hill is an upgrade any way you look at it. I like the guy and wish him well, but business is business.
From what I have seen of Nate Davis.. he didnt look bad at all… ..he could be #2 this year.. unfortunately rumor is that he was/is working with D McNabb.. who probably has him throwing at the recievers ankles by now..
amazing, he was able to enjoy football when the o-line didn’t let every defender plaster him into the field.
Funny how everyone still blames the Texans offensive line for David Carr. He was getting sacked in Carolina when he played there. Tony Banks, Sage Rosenfels and Matt Schaub never had problems playing behind essentially the same line especially in Banks’s case.
