Dolphins drop Ayodele with Porter, Wilson

We knew Miami was going to shed some big-name salaries Friday.

They were finally allowed to let go of Joey Porter.  (The league won’t overturn this one.) We learned earlier in the day that Gibril Wilson was toast.

Since everything cool comes in threes, the team will also release inside linebacker Akin Ayodele.  The former Cowboy was blamed for some of Miami’s struggles in run support.

Ayodele’s departure helps clear the way for Karlos Dansby to potentially take his spot, although we heard he was on the outs no matter what happened with Dansby.

Good, now go out and pursue Rolle and Dansby even harder. You have to have enough free space/money now!

    Dansby plus McClain possibly???

Very happy. Spaces to be filled with Rolle, Dansby, and…who do you have planned Parcells?

This defense is going to get thin. As I recall, they gave up some starting talent last year too. Better be praying for Antrel Rolle and more in Miami.

This is a letter to Dansby and Rolle.Come to Miami!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Akin also sucked in passing support
allowing 85.7 % completions and the QB rating against was an astronomical 128.4
Here you have a player who is slow, terrible in run and pass plays but has yet to miss a game in 8 years
    in the NFL

Gee, can’t imagine why the Dolphins sucked ass last season with those three studs leading the charge. Now if they would only get rid of that total pile of crap Crowder, they might actually start fielding an NFL-caliber team. Their roster is a joke.

I hope they re-invest all the money they saved by cutting these players (all starters). The need a ILB (hopefully Dansby), a OLB (Draft), a FS (Antrell Rolle or Earl Thomas), a NT (Draft) and a WR or pass catching TE (Boldin or Draft).
    Quite a lot of needs…

Us fin fans knew Gerbil Wilson was toast since game 1.

@ FinsforEver lol at Dansby and Mcclain! Why would they need two Inside Linebackers? Channing Crowder is doing the job! Dansby and Crowder would be perfect. Draft a pass rusher!!! Jerry Hughes maybe…

wow, sounds like Miami is rebuilding too

  15. Ches says: Mar 5, 2010 6:10 PM

Too bad to see Ayodele go.
I still don’t get why there is so much hate for Crowder?
Also, if Miami gets Dansby there is no way they will get Mclain.

First conversation with Mike Nolan and the Dolphins…..
Bill Parcells: Ok Mike know that you are our new DC, what do you think we need to do to help you?
Mike Nolan: Well, how can I say this nicely…? Your defense SUCKS! Cut everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. FinFan says: Mar 5, 2010 6:34 PM

Bought f’n time only issue is it advertises our NEEDS to either fa or draft

  19. Tim says: Mar 6, 2010 5:26 PM

Ches, maybe you’re forgetting that the Dolphins signed Crowder to nearly the vet minimum at his position knowing they could care less if he walks.
McClain is far from out of the picture. Crowder’s an after thought. The guy has no instincts for the ball, constantly plays out of position, and gets burned in coverage; but he’s a tackling machine.
