and yes, the money was a factor in that Swartz knew that Fat Albert wouldn’t be worth a third of what he was going to get on the open market…
instead he got to sign a reasonably-priced hard-working vet who will bring a great work ethic to a rebuilding team and can be effective if used correctly

As a life long Lions fan (insert insults here) I’m happy as hell that they are making an effort to improve what has been an awful Dline. Signing KVB and trading for Williams is a positive move in an effort to bring along SLH and possibly McCoy or Suh…
In regards to signing Burleson, what people are failing to understand is that they are only FORCED to pay him 11 mil for about 2 years…if it doesn’t work out, they cut ties. If he excels, as I believe he should opposite Calvin with Pettigrew over the middle, then it’s a great deal. Not much to lose for a player in his prime.
Having said all that, I still hope they use 6 out of their 7 draft picks on defense…with that other pick going to a LT. Oline HAS to protect our 70 million dollar man!

well looky here.. so without Haynesworth there.. Vanden Bosch’ had 3 sacks… in the exact same system.
Face it, may be he is just not that good.. something kittens will find out the hard way.

Good moves on the D line, but they STILL need help on the O line.

I think it’s possible that Schwartz knew about their habits, but the money can’t be ruled out. The Lions were/are rebuilding, and paying that sort of dough to Haynesworth would be foolish.
With KVB and Corey Williams, they’ve made some nice upgrades to their DL. Assuming Suh or McCoy joins, that’s a solid front. These moves could also allow them to look another area, but drafting a guy like Okung ahead of Suh/McCoy would seem … risky.

worthless speculation on Haynesworth PFT. Haynesworth was looking for bigtime $ and getting interest from the Skins, Bucs, and Titans…I’m sure the Lions would have been right at the top of his list. Maybe Schwartz just knows when not to waste his time.

My guess is that Schwartz knew that Haynesworth was going to want/get a huge contract that wouldn’t be worth for the Lions to even consider. Vanden Bosch on the other hand is getting reasonable contract that is a lot easier to justify for a losing team.

Possible trade for Corey Redding from Cleveland…good move
and at #2 they can take Suh ro McCoy…..
That was a quick rebuild of their deplorable defensive line!!!!

Schwartz will get that D to produce now the Lions just need to figure out a way to give Stafford more than 2 seconds to throw it, and maybe open up a hole or two (that’s what she said) in the running game and maybe they can have a winning season.
