Philly is Peppers' fallback

Agent Carl Carey says that inking defensive end Julius Peppers is Chicago’s “deal to lose.”

So what if they lose?

Carey told Steve Reed of the Gaston Gazette that, if things don’t work out in Chicago, Peppers will visit with the Eagles.

It’s looking less likely by the minute that Peppers will leave Chicago as anything but a member of the Bears.  Carey told Reed that the Bears have “extended an impressive contract offer.”

“Chicago will be our first visit and we don’t want them looking over
their shoulder worrying about other teams right now,” Carey said.  “They
were the first to call and they’ve made us a ballpark offer and it’s
good enough to where we’ll make a visit.  Pending the outcome of that
visit we may visit with Philadelphia and see where we are from there.”

So he doesn’t want the Bears to look over their shoulders but there the Eagles are, over the Bears’ shoulders.

Yep.  Tom Hagen.

I hope he signs with the Bears then. I hate the Eagles.

As an eagles fan I hope the bears sign him. Eagles could spend the 100m elsewhere and get better value.

its all hype.. his agent ONLY said that to put pressure on Chicago to make sure they get the right deal for Peppers

I love it… Chicago is going to pay stupid money for a part time player. Like a situational player playing full time. I hope you have many primetime games cause that is the only time he will show up. That adds a 30+ DE to an already OLD defense….. I think Carolina should file tampering charges and get a compensatory pick from Chicago. That would be poetic justice.

Two years in a row the Bears spend a lot of money/picks on talented players known for being lazy.
    Wheee

There is no way the Eagles sign Peppers. That would mean that they care about winning a championship. They will sign some 2nd and 3rd string players and then build them up like they are hall of famers. They’ll get their little mouthpiece Spadaro to help. If they cared about winning so much, they would have had Rolle and Gansby in town already.
