The Rams have sucked eggs at QB for 5+ years now. They have cycled through luminaries like Jaime Martin, Jeff Smoker, and Ryan Fitzpatrick. Bulger had one good year, signed a big contract, got injured, and was pretty much just picking up his paychecks for the last 3 years. I agree that they needed a low end starter or solid backup veteran to keep the seat warm for whichever QB they will (likely) take with the # 1 pick.
So the Rams signed a guy who has been eating Twinkies and sitting on a couch for 3 years to be their QB? They give a crappy low-dollar ‘tender’ offer to their best player in the secondary (Atogwe)? I only have to ask what pipe is the Rams management smoking, and what is in that pipe?
Is this team trying to get better, or trying to keep the salaries down so the new owner keeps a few more bucks in his pocket? These decisions are reminding me of when the St. Louis Blues previous owners had a ‘fire sale’ and ran the team into the ground before selling them to Dave Checketts (who has been a good owner).

Also in the “keeping with the times” theme, they added a Michael Vick clause. Feeley cannot attach electrodes to sick animals balls, or drown them or slam them head first into the ground, or hang them with piano wire. The Rams stated “If Mr. Feely has a animal he no longer feels he can care for, the contract states we are paying him enough money (certainly not 130M, but chances are AJ is smart enough not to lose it all either…) that he must euthanize the animal with a Vet. Not kick it until dead as it screams in pain.
Many Michael Vick supporters looked confused when the clause was announced…

Aj is a good QB but not great, hes a solid talent so the Rams made a good move. I dont know why Carolina didnt sign him, Moore goes down…..who you gonna call? ..culpepper,garcia,brunell, bulger?….VICK?!!!

Is the QB market really this bad? A.J. Feeley is mediocre at best. This will definately push the pricetag up for Vick. Thus far, this is the most bizzare signing of the day.

AJ’s a total professional and a great guy. Not a huge move, but the Rams shouldn’t be going for huge moves right now. This is a solid signing and gives them a good mentor for a young QB and a solid fallback in the event of an injury. I wish he was still on the Eagles.

Wow $6M for a journeyman back up quarterback, that failed in his only attempt as a starter in Miami. A. J. Feeley might just be the most over-valued QB in NFL history, Miami traded a 2nd round pick for the guy and now he gets $3M per year to presumably fill the back-up role in St. Louis . . . simply amazing.
