Dwan Edwards to visit Broncos

After sleeping in Seattle Friday night, Dwan Edwards is headed to the Rockies.

The Denver Post reports the defensive end will visit with the Broncos Saturday and Sunday, possibly setting up a reunion with his former Ravens teammate Justin Bannan. 

Bannan signed quickly in Denver to play nose tackle, and Edwards could be the next piece to Denver’s remodeling of their defensive line.  The Broncos defense did fairly well with a no-name group in 2008, but wore down late in the season.

Baltimore appeared to want to keep both Bannan and Edwards, but it appears they well get outspent.

  1. Anybody remember the year the Broncos signed the entire defensive line of the Cleveland Browns?
    They’re still laughing about that across Ohio…….

  2. Bannan is a very nice role player. We signed him from Buffalo and he is a great guy, great team player and stout run defender. He is however, on the other side of 30 and to give the guy a 5 year contract with the money the Broncos spent seems to be a bit much for a guy like him. We in Bmore wish him nothing but the best. He was a combo starter/reserve here but easily could start on 80% of the teams in the NFL.
    Dwan Edwards spent his first 3 seasons with the Ravens doing absolutely nothing. He was a second round pick and our first pick of the year after the failed Kyle Boller trade. It took him forever and most people had him labeled as a bust, but for the last 2 years the guy has been a very productive lineman. He is very good against the run. He is marginal as a pass rusher, but is versatile enough to play both the DE and DT position at about 305lbs. We are trying to resign him. Losing both him and Bannan would not be good for the Ravens.
    The only upside to losing Edwards would be garnering a #3 pick from Denver and this as everyone has been saying is a very very deep draft. Given that we gave up a #3 for Anquan Boldin, I would look at it as a trade of Edwards and a #4 pick for Boldin and a #5 pick. No matter how you slice and dice it, that is a steal for the Ravens.
    In either case, I wish both of those guys well. They were good team players and overall very productive football players. Neither gave themselves or the team a bad name and they will be looked upon fondly when they return.

  5. hey ppdoc13….i have no idea what you are talking about with the ravens getting a 3rd pick for Edwards….hes a free agent bro you are getting nothing back from the broncos at all….the only thing your team is getting is a depleted Dline!!!!

    Edwards is an unrestricted free agent, Denver does not have to give the Ravens anything if they sign him…

    Denver also had a quarterback that could throw a long pass, two good receivers and a coach that was a proven winner.

  12. Why would denver have to give a 3rd pick? hes an unrestricted free agent not a restricted free agent.

  13. Well it is good to see that this time when Denver is aiming to steel multiple players from another team’s D-line that they chose a successful defense instead of and underachieving one. Both of these players seem like good, hard working players who have a passion for the game, unlike that lard ass Gerard Warren and the constantly injured Courtney Brown.

  14. i stand corrected. it was our other “dawan” than was tendered. edwards is a ufa. in either case, he is a good guy. nice complementary player, but is not “the man,” type of DL.
