The second-best cornerback on the free agent market is ready to take a visit.
After some back-and-forth on the issue, Leigh Bodden’s first free agent visit will be with the Texans, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. It looked previously that Bodden’s price tag may be too high for the Texans’ taste.
Perhaps Bodden’s financial demands are going down. After speaking with Bodden’s agent Alvin Keels, the Texans decided to bring him in. The Patriots are pushing to bring Bodden back, while the Steelers and Seahawks have reportedly shown some interest.
ESPNBoston’s Mike Reiss writes Bodden could command money in the $4-$5 million per season range.
Losing this guy would hurt the Pats for sure, but only because their entire secondary is pretty bad.
Bodden is not worth 4-5 million and BB knows it.
I expect he could command way way more than 4-5 million per year.
So many holes to fill and so little time…
Bodden is a good cover guy and he has size. The Shats screwed up last offseason by not signing him to a multi year deal. But I think they think that they could add young DB depth via the draft since they have 4 picks in the first 2 rounds.
If Banta-Cain is worth about 4+ million a year, why wouldn’t Bodden be worth 5 million?
Because if the QB is on his back the play is over? lol
Is this the same John McClain that said yesterday this wasn’t happening?
The Patriots are just as weird as the Steelers when it comes to free agency. Every now or then they will sign a big name free agent. They have a lst round pick and 2 second round picks. I think they could address the secondary issue. I feel Bodden will land with either the Texans or Steelers.
Come on Vikings, where are you? Dunta’s gone, how about Bodden? Bodden and Westbrook, then you’re done until the draft.
pats are gonna be a defensive joke again this year

There certainly were not many teams interested in Bodden before last season, with the Pats being the most interested. And the Pats did actually try to sign Bodden to a multi-year deal last off-season, but Bodden (to his credit) believed he could restore his reputation after a bad year with the Lions, and command more money this off-season. He was correct and good for him. If he can get some team to bite at some ridiculous figure he should. OTOH, f Bodden can “only” get teams to pony up around $4 million a year then I would not be surprised to see the Pats willing to part with that money (assuming he still would be interested in playing for the Pats).
will he help pay for a new leather face for Jerry?????

We got the draft coming up but Bodden is an example of how overrated it is. Undrafted!
Bodden played at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and his home games were at Art Rooney Field. Not even the Steelers, who signed undrafted Willie Parker and Jeff Reed, who was working at dairy farm, could see the value of Bodden.
Last year third round pick Mike Wallace lights it up as a receiver; the year before Limas Sweed was picked in the second round and he disappeared like D.B. Cooper.
Bodden would be a perfect fit in the ‘Burgh. Been watching that cat for years since his days in Cleveland. Bodden brings it — would line up real nice opposite Ike.
