Fargas says he's fine, Raiders say he failed a physical

The latest item on the transactions page of the Oakland Raiders’ official web site reads, “RB Justin Fargas released (failed physical).”

But Fargas says he’s healthy. In fact, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Fargas says he’s healthy enough to play football today.

While Fargas disputes the “failed physical” claim, the Raiders say elsewhere on their web site that they’re sorry to see him go.

“Justin Fargas was a beloved Raider who performed at a high level throughout his seven seasons with the team and his contributions to the Silver and Black will always be remembered,” the Raiders’ statement reads. “We wish Justin all the best.”

Would love to see Fargus picked up by Minnesota to back up Peterson with Chester Taylor signing with the Bears.

They didnt want to say, “we released him because we didnt want to pay him a bonus…” So I guess they figured lying about a failed physical sounded better…. Whatever.
Bottom line is that Fargas wasa loyal soldier for the Raiders, but he was also very mediocre. His time with the team happens to be the worst era in Raiders history. Not saying it was his fault. But constantly starting mediocre players (like Fargas) along with bad draft picks by Davis and poor coaching hires that led this team into a tailspin that it is still in.
Its time for this team to play its talent (instead of playing the guys who are on Davis scholarships)and make better FA and draft day decisions.

A true RAIDER! Thanks for the seasons Fargas. Too bad we sucked while you were here.

The Raiders need to cut a football player who has heart, carries himself with class and plays the game like he loves football to make room for a track guy with hands of clay or a lazy bling buying clothes horse or a RB who can’t break a tackle.
I haven’t checked, who had the fastest 40 time at the combine? “With the eighth pick of the 2010 draft The Oakland Radiers select Speedy Gonzales.”

I’m waiting for PFT to tell me who is lying since they do not believe Andy Reid regarding McNabb so please tell me , are the Raiders or Fargas not telling the truth?

Fargas is a bad man, he runs so hard. Good player

  7. Alzado's Vein says: Mar 7, 2010 11:03 AM

Sad to see him go, nobody tougher in the game. A punishing runner. Fargas and Petersen would beat the snot out of defenses. What a nightmare that would be.

  8. Jayson says: Mar 7, 2010 11:04 AM

I hope Fargas can go to a team that knows how to win. He deserves that for agony of playing for a pitiful Raiders team. This just proves loyalty gets you nowhere and I love the Raiders but we have a horrible coach, a worthless #1 pick QB. and an owner who everyone says should die, but I think he is dead and that Davis puppet J. Herrera has him propped up on a chair with a stick (weekend at Bernies, anyone?)

  9. Tinbender says: Mar 7, 2010 11:28 AM

I’d like to see SF give him a physical, a Singletary type player if there ever was one. Fargas and Gore=no plays off for the defence.

I agree with you mot, it sure would be nice if Al stopped drafting the “fastest athletes” in the draft and started drafting and persuing true football players . You know sort of like the Patriots and Colts have done the last 10-12 years…..

Lets not forget everyone that Justin Fargas ran a 4.35 during the combine in 2003.
People rip Al Davis all the time for drafting height/speed guys (including myself) but look how Fargas turned out? He is a 6-foot-2 tailback that ran a 4.35.
Even I’m amazed, sometimes Davis’ way of thinking pans out.

Read the email that Fargas’ agent, Steve Baker, sent out the media.
It states, “Justin feels he his healthy to play football.”
“Feels” healthy and “Is” healthy are two different things.

Dude will be an Eagle by the end of the week. He is a perfect counter punch to Shady and will close on the backfield with Weaver very nicely.

I really do not understand what any of you are talking about. Fargas was NOT a punishing runner. He was NOT a powerful runner. He was NOT able to score touchdowns. Matter of fact, Justin Fargas had crappy year after crappy year until Lamont Jordan got hurt in 2007. You want to crown him because he ran for 1,009 yards? He has just over 3,300 yards in his career of 7 years and only 10 touchdowns. He is not a game changer people. He had a good year in 2007 when the Raiders were killing with the run game no matter who was playing. Jordan had over 100 yards in each game to start the season in ’07 and was lighting the Dolphins up for 5 yards per carry before he got hurt and replaced. Fargas runs upright, goes down easily, absorbs more power hit than he dishes by lowering shoulders…. overall not a great loss.
The only truth that I’ve heard is that Fargas had heart. That’s about all I have ever seen and heart only wins games in Disney movies. Clear some room and bring in some real talent.
PS – Fargas was one of those guys taken because of his speed just so you know.

He may be a nice fit in minny.

This move was 4 years too late for both parties. Big heart and team first attitude is great and all but without the game changing RB talent or a half decent line forget it. He would run into the pile for 1 or 2 yards that was really great by some fans. No good enough for me.
Face it Raider fans, this team stinks to high heaven. The defense celebrates tackles for losses (Howard and Morrison) instead of victories. A fat QB who doesn’t care, an owner way past his prime, an over-rated cornerback, a defensive lineman who doesn’t want to be here, a vet WR sitting all year long, an assistant hanging on before the lawsuit, an offensive line made worse by the ex line coach turned head coach, etc.
Should I keep going? Do you see what I mean?
Most of these starters are 2nd or 3rd stringers playing special teams or out of football all together. There are only 3 players who can start on another team: the kicker, the punter and the over-rated cornerback.
Davis is done with talent evaluation. This team is a train wreck again until he’s 6 feet under.
Yeah, I know you’ll post a comment saying I’m not a Raider fan, but I know a sinking ship when I see one. I know Davis is done. He doesn’t care about the fans at all: look at the past 6-7 years for that.
    Accept it: THIS TEAM SUCKS.
Next year this team is 4-12 at best. AT BEST and Cable will be gone by mid season for cause: because he’s not a true head coach and this team stinks!
Horrible state for the Raiders. I just hope the fans wake up, accept it and wait out the Davis era- Ending just like it began: HORRIBLE!

Probably the only Raider I’d like to see on my team (besides Awesome-wah). He fought for every inch. Come on over to the Red and Gold Justin! Its much better to play for 70,000 than a half empty staduim and a blacked out game

the 49ers do not sellout either

Don’t get me wrong, because Huggy’s character is what I like to see on the team I am cheering for. Unfortunately, Justin would all-to-often run head-first into the ONLY defensive player standing between him & the endzone.
It would drive me crazy. If he had 1 ounce of “JUKE” in his imagination, he might have scored more TDs. Instead, he has more career fumbles than he has TDs.
So, “A true RAIDER! Thanks for the seasons Fargas. Too bad we sucked while you were here.”, OR did we suck BECAUSE you were here?
It’s water under the bridge now, so best of luck to you whatever you do, Justin. At least we KNOW you always played your hardest, unlike some other Raider stiffs we have at RB & other positions.

I think this will be the year we get to know the real Darren McFadden. He’s the number one guy now and he’s gonna have to carry the offense cus got knows Jamarcus can’t do it.

it is time for the next chapter……let Bush bang the ball up the middle between the tackles, and use mcfadden on the edges and in the slot.
Fix the middle, and the right side of the o-line
