So much for a torn ACL and a subpar season before the injury.
Defensive end turned linebacker turned defensive end Aaron Kampman will earn big money in Jacksonville.
Michael C.Wright of the Florida Times-Union reports that Kampman inked a four-year deal worth $26 million, with $11 million guaranteed.
As Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com points out, the deal matches the package received by new Lions defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch.
Another reason why FA blows.
So the Eagles can dump money on dog-killer Vick… but not this guy?
I’d take Kampman over KVB every day of the week, and over Peppers about 3-4 days of the week. Kampman’s an extremely hard worker, and a great locker room guy.
As safe of a signing as you can have (with a bad acl). Huge motor guy.
Can’t blame the eagles for not signing guys like peppers or kampman when other teams are willing to overpay like this.
Que chido
The Jags rolled the dice on a guy that may not be ready to start in the opener.
But they got a clubhouse leader and if they front load this contract a cap friendly arrangement for future years. I have no doubt he will come back strong and play hard, but why would a great player like this want to go to a team in downward spiral?
good guy, big mistake to land in Florida. But I guess you have to get the money somewhere…
GB will play the “I love Aaron K”!!!
The truth is Farve made GB so they could buid a new complex around the old Lambeau. The Lambeau who trade GB for Chicago.
GB will never get their hypocrisy!! The most dishonest fans in America.
will he send Jerry some $ for another leather face job????
wow! no wonder the Birds wouldn’t give him a sniff. great player, but coming off an acl tear and being 30, that’s way too much cash!
Kampman > Peppers
Good for Kampman! I came from Iowa myself and was pissed to see him reduced to a clown roll on a Capers defense. Go to Florida and play like we all know you can. Show the rotten Packers organization that they are as dumb as we think they are.
Dog-killer vick? jesus christ the whole fking sports world has gotten over it, why don’t you do the same.
gawd forbid the eagles don’t over spend on a washed up has been. watch the 2010-11 season and u will see what i mean.
Jags are desperate…14 sacks last year
Kamp’a a great guy and I hope he recovers well from his acl, but that’s a lot of dough for a question mark.
This guys better than VanDen Bosch
Aaron Kampman hates Green Bay. Smart guy.
krow seems to want everybody for the eagles…vick is cheap and will eventually net a draft pick, what was so bad signing him?kampman has no knee but is worth $26 million?.you should be thanking the eagles for not overpaying for an aging vet.
ha and there are actually guys on this site who think he shunned the eagles!
Good luck to Kampman. Jacksonville will love this guy. Thanks for the 8 years AK
Congrats to AK. We appreciate everything you did in Green Bay, and good luck in Jax. Class guy all the way.
Aaron is a sure bet to perform at 100% on every play from day one to the last day of year four. He’s a class act on and off the field to boot.
The best to you Kampy. You’ll be missed in Green Bay.
Well when you only have 14 sacks in a season you need to take some risks and spend money. I rather my team spend my money and at least try to fix the problem then paying a 3rd QB millions to do nothing.
@ Krow.. id rather have a dog killer that can get on the field a couple plays and get us some value later at backup qb or draft picks than have an overpaid DE that’s gonna get hurt again and wont see the field much
I figured Kampman would get a big payday in the uncapped year; if he recovers from the ACL he should be a big producer for the L.A. Jags…
Sure beats the hell out of trading away two third round picks and a fifth round pick and pay the same money over one more season to an unproven player (see Derrick Harvey).
Good job Ted. Could have traded him for something last off season but Ted was too stubborn and thought he could make it work. Now we get nothing.
Hell of a deal for the Jags considering what Chicago just got robbed for. Hope they filed a police report.
I wonder when Packers fans will realize that their organization blows. That Thompson guy is ruining that team, player by player. Whats he doing this off season, same as the last… Sitting on his hands, and watching players go bye-bye!
Packfan in chi town
you are a classic example of how dumb packer fans truly are….
If Kampman had played his position last year, he would have had 10-14 sacks, pro bowl, possible franchise tag etc… making MUCH MORE THAN PEPPERS…. this is chump change compared to how much money the packers and Thompson screwed him out of….
maybe thompson is screwing you also
its ok, we still have AJ hawk!
@ The Devil: “downward spiral”???
The Jags have 1 bad year of attendance and we’re in a downward spiral? Really?! We had the BEST draft in the league last year. We are stocked with good, young talent. This team’s arrow is pointing up. Maybe he wanted to play in a state with no state income tax. He’s gonna save a fortune that way!
@PackFanNChiTown: Stay Classy.
It’s not gonna be the L.A. Jags. You’d think a fan of another small-market team would have some sympathy. But since you live in Chicago, I understand why you’re a jerk.
How exactly is Jacksonville in a downward spiral?
uh garyL…the taxpayers of this state paid for the Lambeau renovation…
And I don’t get how we’re hypocrites because Aaron signed with Jacksonville…project much?
GB will play the “I love Aaron K”!!!
The truth is Farve made GB so they could buid a new complex around the old Lambeau. The Lambeau who trade GB for Chicago.

csaber 2007
Let’s only hope GB moves to LA.
Packer fans do not deserve Professional sports.
Taxpayers – are you a joke. We have deficits – you pay for nothing.
Oh- I love AK – Oh I hate BF. You are all losers majore.
Vikings crash back to earth is fully in progress…… Aaron Kampman is a Christian man and a gentleman and unlike Brett ” Everyone look at me ” Favre and we all wish him well. He wanted to go to an organization that has a chance to actually win something !!! In Minnesota you can be sure of 3 things 1. NEVER winning a Super Bowl 2. Particiapation in the “Minnesota DUI INDY 500 for Drunks ” and the dumbest fans in any sport at any level ….
Did I mention NEVER winning anything ? That can’t be argued…..
Now turn off Mary Tyler Moore, take off your ” I voted for Al Franken ” T Shirt and go get your SHINE BOX !!!
If any team is in a downward spiral, it is far from being the Jags.
Bummer. I still like the switch to the 3-4, although it may take another year or two to take hold. I thought they’d struggle much more than they did last year with the change, looking forward to how they do with another year under their belts. Good luck Aaron.
WiPackman
You sound satanic and vile.
What is wrong with you- Get into Therapy tonight.
Wipackman, how does this show the “crash” for the Vikings?
I love how Packer fans use the “The Vikings have never won the SB.” when your team has only 1 championship since the Vikings have been around, and the Minnesota organization has more divisional titles in that same stretch.
Come back when you are the Steelers, 49ers, Cowboys, or Patriots of the NFL when you have more than 1 glorious year to mouth off about.
And as for Kampman, congrats on going somewhere where your GM and coaching staff aren’t a bunch of dips**ts, moving you out of your true position to start a formation that flat out wasnt fit for your personel.
Enjoy 2nd in the division again Pack fans.
Jacksonville has ONE playoff win in the last 10years. It does not get much lower than that unless you are Detroit or Dallas…
heheh

WELL DONE !!! Couldn’t have set it better myself. Are you sure your a Packer Fan ?
@garyl- Remember that argument we got in and you admitted you were like 50-some years old? Go review your posts. Your grandchildren are ashamed of you.

Did you fart or are we in Iowa?
I surprised the Vikings didn’t make a run at him. They seem to love ex Packers, whether they are any good or not. But Kampman is a class guy and he would have never fit in that lockerroom with the felons, hooker-hiring, speed zone breaker, substance abusers.
This is sad. I really liked Aaron Kampman. He was a class act on and off the field. He did so much for the community of Green Bay. Good luck to him in Florida!
EMoney you said “Good job Ted. Could have traded him for something last off season but Ted was too stubborn and thought he could make it work. Now we get nothing. ”
Actually the Packers will get a draft pick for Kampy. Probably a 3rd to 5th round pick. Which is probably about the same value as if the Packers had traded him.
I suspect the Packers offered over fair market value to keep him, but this was too much $ for an injured player to turn down. With Florida’s no income tax this makes this $ what, about another 30% more?
Kampy, Packer Fans will always cheer for you – thanks for all the memories.
26 Million is chump change for a hard working, all effort DE. Eagles again must be smoking crack. Kampman is the anti Stacy Andrews. In Philly opposite of T.Cole he would get single blocker every play. 10-12 sacks no doubt. All you guys that say thats to much or he washed up have no clue.

Ah, Favre build all the new editions with all the SuperBowls he personally won for them.
Good luck to Kampman. He could have taken more money last time he was a free agent, but wanted to play in Green Bay. Now Green Bay doesn’t want him (should have left him at defensive end…why mess with a probowl player and his position?). I sure hope he does well; he is a great guy!
Really think the Pack should have held on to him for one more season .. but coming off an ACL tear, its just too much of a what if. Besides, he never wanted to be a 3-4 LB anyway .. so he never was going to succeed. He set himself up for failure. “Class act” BS. He was a crybaby who just said the right things to the media. There’s a reason they let him walk ..

My God, did you ever learn the English language. You write like a 2nd grader. By the way, I’m a Green Bay Packer fan.
Now all the jags need is Taylor Mays
FNGS, you really don’t get football, do you? It’s called the ultimate team game for a reason. You jackass.
This is a good signing for the Jaguars. A proven blue chip player and high quality locker room guy.
With the Packers transistion to a 3-4 they asked Kampman to become an OLB. Kampman was making 6 million a year with the Packers as a 4-3 DE.
So the increase in salary is not that much.
Why is this story polluted with comments from low class rubbish from the jealous vikling humanoids?
They have no NFL accomplishments and therefore attempt to tear down others to their low level.
I am happy for him, I honestly believe he just wants to be play football. GB would let him do it, Jax would let him do it in a defense he has succeeded it. I wish him the best.
Is it possible to re-direct all the Viking trolls to the appropriate link involving their team?
It’s boring to read the same old TT-hate, Favre rules, best players bailing bs from “fans” who have obviously never even been to Lambeau for an actual game.
I love the Packers. TT has indeed built the Pack into a legitimate SB contender for the next few years.
Dom Capers has, in fact, transformed the defense into a formidable weapon and the offense is very definitely at least among the top five.
What more do these trolls expect of a GM: A cure for their brain cancer?
Just one question: How do the Packers leave Kampman as a de in a 3-4 configuration where there is NO defensive end?
The Pack didn’t “mess with a probowl player”, they completely changed their defensive scheme to great effect.
Kampman preferred the 4-3, the Packers are 3-4. Do the math.
Kampman is the type of guy that made the Packers the greatest franchise in all of sports. Total class. Unlike Favrah, who may have played well for 17 years, but in the end showed his true colors.
It’s amazing how many hateful, dumb people post on this blog. The packers let a guy go who is coming off off of serious injury and is very solid but not great go to a team willing to overpay him. Some will say he didn’t do well last year because of being in a 3-4 but they don’t mention the dirty little secret that 2 seasons ago when in the 4-3 he was very infective and generated very little pressure on a defense that did not pressure the passer. The general consensus was that he couldn’t put up big numbers without KGB on the other side any longer. Some people think they should criticize the team for letting a seriously injured 31 year old go when the defense actually improved after he left the lineup. Those people are morons.
Kampman is wonderful guy but he isn’t dominant and unlike some commenters assertions he is a very quiet individual and not a vocal leader. He sets good examples but isn’t what you call a locker-room leader.
I also love how much blind hatred some just have for the pack and the state of WI. How trashy of these fans to act so transparently jealous of a team that has more titles than any other and is on the cusp of another. Keep it coming losers
gary, grow up…oh, and the Packers aren’t moving anywhere.

There it is in a nutshell. He hurt our feelings so now Favre is POS…..freaking crybaby.
To the other poster….Get your shine box!?! Really?
No, Really?!
You seem to think using a Goodfella’s reference is “cool” You sir are an idiot.

Mitch ,Mitch…you freakin lil tool. You know, your old lady does swallow. She just lies to you.
Everything about Kampman indicates he is a class act; the type of person and player who will significantly upgrade the Jags.
In my opinion, he is the consummate team player and differs dramatically from Favre who spent about a decade and a half with the Packers.
Proving my point !!!

The Green Bay Packers have won 4 Superbowls since the inception of the Minnesota Vikings …In 1962 That is a FACT I am not being a jerk ….But you talk like your team has done something and they have not., Come to think of it many Viking fans talk this way ( not all )
Thanks for proving my point about how stupid Viking fans are !!
Its true that Viking fans TALK TALK TALK until after they lose EVERY big game they have ever been apart of. Cant be found then.
The only thing sweeter than Favre the ass candle getting pounded and you all weeping in Nawlins will be when we knock you out next year
OK everybody, it’s time to get real here. Kampman will be missed, but only in a nostalgic kind of way. He blew out his knee and he has played ten years. I am glad he got the big bucks while he can, because I really like the guy. But the name of the game is “can he help us win,” and he no longer could…for the two reasons above and because he doesn’t fit in a surprisingly good (and getting better) 3-4. I have a feeling he won’t pan out in Jax and TT will look prophetic….again.

Knock us out from what? Packers are unable to compete for the top spot in the NFC North so long as the Vikings are around. No wonder so many Packer fans want them to leave for LA. You guys simply can not beat us in a straight up match. Good luck again being in our shadows for the next couple of years.
too bad the raiders didn’t get him….Javon woulda been pissed because Al went and dropped 120 mil on a D lineman
Oh well, THE BEARS STILL SUCK!
As a Viking fan, I loved to see Kampman go somewhere else. He was always someone that we had to account for on the field. Besides that, you got nothing in return when you lost him. That was sweet!
