Darnell Dockett could be getting his wish

Maybe this whole “NFL players lobbying their teams to sign specific free agents” thing is finally starting to catch on.

At a time when Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco’s lobbying of the team to sign receiver Terrell Owens seems to be working, the Cardinals will be listening to defensive tackle Darnell Dockett.

Dockett has one item on his Christmas list — linebacker Joey Porter.  And Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Porter will be visiting the Cardinals on Thursday.

But the Cardinals might have some competition; Schefter also reports that the Bills have contacted Porter.  Buffalo’s defensive coordinator George Edwards had been Porter’s position coach in Miami.

Anyone who considers signing Porter will have to balance whatever he has left in the tank against the inanity that routinely emerges from his mouth.

“Left in the tank?” Peezy has 26.5 sacks in the last two years which puts him in the top five in quarterback sacks. Joey Porter’s love for the game can be infectious. He would be a good addition for the Cardinals because of their 3/4 scheme. I hope he starts for another team this year. Miami isn’t going anywhere.

    GO STEELERS!

Ha! seriously joey porter? he peeked in 2008. he is obviously NOT the same guy he was in 08 then what he is 2010…so any of those teams can have him.

Porter had plenty of sacks but his impact was minimal the past season. game changing plays were few and far between

  4. SmackMyVickUp.com says: Mar 7, 2010 10:24 PM

1/2 of his sacks in 2009 came in 2 games – against Carolina and Buffalo. Running on fumes.

KLYTUS, PORTER IS A CANCER IN THE LOCKER ROOM NUFF SAID
    GO DOLPHINS

And after Porter’s complaining, the NFL gave the Steelers Super Bowl XL.
What we can learn from this?
B!tch and you will get your way.

    @2 Legit
You realize Porter was 31 that year, right? And he had 17.5 sacks. He’s not done. I’m sure he’ll do fine for the Cardinals, but I don’t think they should sign him.
They’re going through rebuilding mode, so there’s no way a 32 year old will help them in the future. The Cardinals lost a top QB, a solid WR and LB, and a decent S. They need a huge draft if they want to compete next year. Porter won’t be of much use to them

Of JPs 9 sacks this season, only four were against starting left tackles. The rest came against Rookie subs, TEs and a converted guard playing his first game at the position. JP could not set the edge against the run all season. He has a rickety knee. Look, I love his passion but his bark, which was always heard all over the neighborhood, is now far worse than his bite. All power to whomever picks him up because he is now, at best, a situational guy.

Joey Porter is one of my favorite players and I will support him wherever he goes. I think he should go back to the black and yellow and finish his career their. Steeler fans loved him and respected him, Miami didn’t and nowhere else will either.

Nice job headlining this as Karlos Dansby at first….

Maybe for what he brings to the locker room, but J Peezy ain’t who he was on the field.

That really sucks for Arizona. Joey Porter is not the player he used to be. All he did last year with Miami is run is big mouth that he could never back up. He talked so much trash before the Patriot game and he didn’t get one single tackle! I’m glad he left Miami he has been nothing but a cancer since he came down here from the Cam Moron era. Aside from his 9 sacks last year he only finished the season with 30 something tackles, sorry but all Porter can do is rush the QB he sucks at stopping the run and even worse in coverage. Cam Wake is taking his spot this year and in my opinion is better then Porter at rushing the QB so Miami lost nothing with his release.

If hewould just shut his mouth and play ball, he wouldnt be so bad.

  17. KAVEMAN1969 says: Mar 8, 2010 12:34 AM

VoxVagina has it right. Porters got enough in the tank to help a contender, but that is no longer the Cardinals. He also need a strong players coach who has the ability to deal with the diva part of Joey Porter.

    Dude is washed up

  19. elementzo3 says: Mar 8, 2010 7:03 AM

Porter got his wish, was able to play whichever side he wanted, and still sucked. He’s a selfish player who cares about Peezy and nothing else. Goodbye Porter, thanks for ’08.

Hey voxvagina, the cards have lost nothing that:
    a) they haven’t already replaced, b) already had a replacement for.
Warner was the big loss but leinart has his shot now. Yes, the cards offense will turn a bit more conservative. We’ll see some play action that will actually fool a LB or S and 5-10 more runs per game.
I guess you’ll be another one surprised when they 3-peat as nfc west champs.
    I won’t.

Steeler Nation loves Joey Porter. That cat brung it.
Dockett knows what’s up if he wants him some Peezy.

Nice job changing the headline and then not posting my comment after I pointed out that this post is not about Dansby. Way to have some integrity.

Please send him to Buffalo, he belongs to that upstate New York trash heap.
George Edwards was an awful linebackers coach and he’ll be an awful defensive coordinator too.

  25. danmarinosson says: Mar 8, 2010 10:17 PM

Hey Chad have you actually been upstate…..because it’s way nicer that downstate despite the fact that our owner looks more and more like a cadaver everyday….

  26. fin4life says: Mar 9, 2010 7:01 AM

Klytus obviously has a time machine and is still living in the squealers glory days. JPeezy is done, Rapistberger is done, and your precious foosball team is done. No, that wasn’t a typo… Send us Polamalu and we’ll forget all about that big whiny baby we took of your hands three years ago. I can’t believe it was only three years ago. I haven’t been so happy to see someone leave since Bryan Cox. Good riddance Peezy, BonF******Voyage!!!
