Source: Sharper couldn't have passed a physical

Earlier tonight, word emerged that free-agent safety Darren Sharper underwent knee surgery two days before the start of free agency.

So why did he do it then?  Per a league source, his knee was so swollen that he couldn’t have passed a physical.

Thus, he had no choice but to get the procedure done.

For now, it appears that Sharper could still land with the Saints.  It’s believed that a couple of other teams might be interested.

His timing allows Da Bears to go after Atogwe first and if that falls thru come back to him later

I assume that’s the reason the Saints weren’t that aggressive in trying to keep him knowing that he would possibly return back empty-handed ?

    Who cares…

Sharper would be foolish to leave the Saints; if he finishes his stint over the next two (2) years with New Orleans, he’ll have Free Beans ‘n Rice, crawfish e’touffe, chicken ‘n andouille gumbeaux and the world’s best seafood for life…
Not to mention all the other perks that come with being a local sports hero…

Come on, Darren. Quit having your agent spread rumors of people being “interested” in you. Stop posturing and sign your contract already. You know you’re gonna be back with the Saints.

Well since the Steelers got Clark back (I am not saying Clark is better than Sharper), I hope he goes back to the Saints, he seems to fit in well there.

Sooo when is his knee expected to be good enough to pass a physical? It’d be nice if that was mentioned.

How come my response takes so long to post?

“He knee,” is a Korean affliction. Next question:
What was Sharper doing in Korea? Answer:
    World-wide rule by the NFL!
This is how the Nazi party started people!
Somebody start asking some questions…or else!

Ridiculous. Could they move the draft up a month, like they did the Pro Bowl? – these threads get worse by the minute!

you know it’s love when a man has untimely surgery just so that he can stay on the team. welcome back to NOLA #42!

He knee will be better once camp rolls around. The Saints will sign him after the draft.
