Tebow will work out for Bills, Seahawks

col_tebow_250.jpgOn March 17, former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow will unveil his new throwing motion, which he says isn’t really a new throwing motion but which was enough of a new throwing motion to prompt him to not show off any throwing motion at the Scouting Combine.

Gil Brandt of NFL.com reports that Tebow also will work out for the Seahawks and the Bills the day after his Pro Day session.

In Seattle, Tebow would be tutored by Pete Carroll and Jeremy Bates; in Buffalo, the man who made Kordell Stewart into an NFL quarterback would be charged with turning Tebow into a pro-caliber passer.

Then again, there’s also a chance that either team is considering Tebow for a role other than quarterback.

The concern remains Tebow’s looping throwing motion.  Even if he manages to alter it for workouts and practices, multiple league sources have explained to us that a strong likelihood remains that, when he is in game situations, he’ll revert to the throwing motion that he has been using in game situations for many years.

Given that Tebow might not be ready to contribute as a quarterback for multiple years, any G.M. and head coach that obtains his rights needs to be confident that they’ll both still be employed when the payoff comes — if it ever does.

Seriously.. Who cares.. I didn’t read this article, just logged in to ask my question. If a QB needs to be taught how to throw why draft him ? Why must this site constantly write articles about this guy.

  2. milehiclown says: Mar 8, 2010 8:36 AM

But Tebow *could* be available at the 14th pick since they are shipping their 6th to my Donks for BM.

    Pointless article.

Florio, get off Tebow’s ass. Your job is to write these fluff rumors and speculative nonsense, then pepper with lawyer speak so it sounds like you know what the hell you’re talking about. I wish your passion would have been golf instead. Is Tebow your new Farve?

  5. Chapnasty2 says: Mar 8, 2010 8:48 AM

Tebow is an idiot, can’t wait to see him flop on his face.

You made a great point about making sure that the GM/Coach who makes the Tebow pick has to be strong enough to know that they will still be running the team when Tebow is ready to contribute as a QB. Take a look at the teams that have that dynamic, and one will get a good idea as to where Tebow will end up……
    Miami – Parcells
    Dallas – Jones,
    NE – The hooded one
Seattle – Pete will be there a while
    Browns – The Waldrus
    KC – Pioli
    Washington – Shannahan
Now, out of those teams, you can argue that Washington will pick another QB that is ready to play, KC already took their QB last year and will probably trade for Brady Quinn to be a backup, Browns don’t need another project at QB given comments of how difficult it is to change a QB’s motion. With that, you are left with Miami, Seattle, NE and Dallas.
Add to that teams that might not have a strong GM, but are solid enough that Tebow would make sense, and I would add Green Bay and the Vikings. Lastly, Chan Gailey likes QB’s that are athletic such as Tebow as he runs a spread type offense, so Buffalo has to be in the mix. Jacksonville is Tebow’s home town and they need to sell tickets, so he would be a logical target.
    Final Tebow landing spots:
Miami, Seattle, NE, Dallas, Green Bay, Vikings, Buffalo and Jacksonville
Last note, if for some unforseen reason Tebow drops in the draft way lower than expected and he does not feel he will get a legit shot a QB, don’t rule out him signing with the CFL as one of his QB tudors in prep for the draft if Marc Trestman who is the HC of the CFL’s Grey Cup winner.

They write articles about him because he’s one of the best college QBs in history, the next step is to see if he can make it at the next level, and he doesn’t act like the idiot in Pittsburgh… win or lose. Pretty easy to figure out if you take a minute to THINK about it.

” If a QB needs to be taught how to throw why draft him ? Why must this site constantly write articles about this guy?” –Ravensfankiller
Because he is an incredible athlete? Because the payoff could be huge for a third round pick? Because others have been told they had problems with mechanics and went on to have great careers?
Hey, I am a Panther fan and I don’t want the risk, but if your team has multiple picks high in the draft and there is the threat of a lockout next year, that basically gives him, possibly, 2 years to develop for the price of one. In a market that seems to feature a dearth of QBs, might be worth the shot. If he doesn’t work out, I bet he would make a decent TE or H back/wildcat.

    I can’t believe 1500 people paid $160 for Timmy TeBlow’s autograph.

Buffalo you have screwed your fans for the last 10 years please don’t add another 10 to it.

    @Ravensfankiller
I am not a Florida fan or resident so there is no bias when I say Tebow doesn’t need to be taught how to throw. He was one of the most productive QBs in college football and was very accurate and smart with the football throughout his college career. His mechanics need some work and he is showing coaches and scouts that he is willing to put in the time and effort necessary to make the changes they want him to make.
Peyton Manning had to work on his mechanics coming out of college too, Tom Brady was thought to be not strong enough and nothing special when he came out, Joe Montana went in the 3rd round because people didn’t think he had the arm strength for the NFL. All those guys and bassically any QB coming out of college had to work on something when they came to the NFL because NFL coaches and scouts nitpick at everything trying to get the most out of any player. The biggest difference with Tebow is that he is already so famous that anything and everything he does gets reported, especially with all the 24 hour sports channels that exist these days.
Only time will tell how successful he is in making these changes and really if he isn’t, how much they are necessary. Phillip Rivers has a terrible throwing motion but clearly that hasn’t stopped him from being one of the top QBs in the league. While Byron Leftwitch struggled due to a similar problem as what Tebow has, he is also nowhere near the athlete Tebow is so we have no idea how things will pan out.

why would the Fins take Tebow? They have a perfectly capable future ProBowler on their roster now

  18. wydok says: Mar 8, 2010 9:32 AM

Hey, Florio, you forgot to use the word “blessing.”

  19. Staubach says: Mar 8, 2010 9:34 AM

Tebow’s problem is NOT his throwing motion, it is his lack of accuracy and uncertainty about his ability to read pro defenses and make good decisions in the pocket. I think the whole throwing motion thing is just a smoke screen to get people to say “See, he doesn’t throw goofy any more, he must have turned into a good quarterback!”

  20. CanadianVikingFan says: Mar 8, 2010 9:44 AM

Jeremy Bates; in Buffalo, the man who made Kordell Stewart into an NFL quarterback
    ——————————————–
We all know how he turned out as a quarterback..
Tim Tebow might just end up like Kordell, a great overall athlete but nothing more than a mediocre QB.

  21. Ravensfankiller says: Mar 8, 2010 9:53 AM

I understand everyone’s comments back at mine but there are 300 + other great athletes that are coming into this draft and we don’t talk or hear about 99.9% of them. And the fact is that 99.9% of the other players drafted are going to be better NFL players then him. This isn’t college anymore. Ryan Leaf was amazing in college too !

  22. gruntersdad says: Mar 8, 2010 10:19 AM

Aren’t there any players in this years draft that are ready for the NFL? Do we have to continually read about this arrogant fool. Please move on. time will tell which team wastes a draft pick on this unwanted clown.

  23. cbrianwatkins says: Mar 8, 2010 10:25 AM

playaction pass will be the coffin sealer for Tebow
why waste all this time tweaking shit?
just make him an H Back and call it a day, the guy can jump, run, and catch…….its not rocket science

Tebow’s problem is NOT his throwing motion, it is his lack of accuracy …..
    ———————————–
Tebow’s career completion % is 67.8% Bradford 67.6% Clauson 62.6% The only QB with better accuracy is McCoy 70.6%.
The rest of you argument is sound, but the accuracy simply isn’t true.

TEBOW HAS to go to a warm weather site..high throws will sit in the cold winds like apples ready to be picked..so NO Green BAy BUffalo..Miami already has their brain dead act in PAt White..they will not waste another draft pick on a whatever QB… Seattle is fairly cold..not a good spot..only spot in my book JAX or Carolina…although…I would not be surprised if you see him drafted as a backup to PAYTON and groomed..its in a dome…and he could play hybrid roles there while waiting..

  26. ch19079 says: Mar 8, 2010 11:03 AM

Bills are interested because of 2 words:
Doug Flutie. He had none of the measureables, but all of the ability.
They havent been to the playoffs since they benched him for a bum who had all the measurables but none of the ability. They are still regretting that one.
The only problem scouts have with him is that he only ran a shotgun offence in college and has a slow release. Both can be corrected with proper training (if it can be taught in college, it can be taught at the NFL level).
The #1 thing a QB must have is the ability to put the ball where it needs to be while under pressure. Its the one ability that can not be taught and can not be measured off the field. His performance on the field was great, thats all that matters.
If the bills use a anything other than a 1st to draft him, it will be a good pick.

Tebow if Florio’s new whipping boy. Virtually every article about tebow is written by florio and not his cronies. That always tells you what his agenda is.
Tebow is a stand up guy that speaks his mind. That kind of credibility theatens a guy like florio.

  28. Drat says: Mar 8, 2010 11:53 AM

It still cracks me up that Florio keeps harping like an expert on the “looping” throwing motion. Florio has no idea what that means. He has no idea how it impacts Tebow’s game. Florio knows law, not athletics.
It also cracks me up that Florio, in a previous post, used his irrational legal babble to say that the Miami coaches had nothing to lose, all to gain, by coaching Tebow. Let’s see what happens this fall when Tebow of the Bills is dropping looping TD passes over the Miami defense. I’m not a Tebow fan or a Bill fan, but it would be hilarious to see Tebow smoke the Fins.

I might eat my words but what is the fascination with Tebow ? I think he is a bit of a blowhard and a very average pro style prospect !! If he could run a 4.2 Al Davis would draft him but no other quality GM can’t serioulsy be considering him ! Help me out here !!

  30. B Atkins says: Mar 8, 2010 2:27 PM

Tebow faced more “pro style” defenses -(that term from a previous poster had me LMAO) – anyhow, Tebow has faced Cover 2, Cover 3, Cover 4 – 2 & 3 deep zone – and man to man.
With the amount of NFL ready defensive talent in the SEC, Tebow saw alot of man to man – why? Because of his run threat, which always +1′d the defense. In man to man coverage it is the WR’s responsibilty to get open, not Tebow’s to throw ‘em open.
One other item; Tebow is more accurate on 15+ yard throws than is Bradford, McCoy or Clausen. What Tebow lacks in his 3/10 of a sec. longer release he makes up for with velocity. Hence – 985 attempts to 16 INT’s.

BIGZ—SAID IT BEST……LEFT WINGERS VIEW HIM AS A THREAT….AND SO MANY OF YOU BUY INTO IT…..
IN TODAYS NFL, THERE ARE 32 TEAMS…OF THE 32 TEAMS, LESS THAN HALF OF THEM HAVE A GREAT QB, LESS THAN HALF OF THE HALF HAVE A STUD, AND THEN HALF OF THEM HAVE A FUTURE HALL OF FAMER…
MY POINT- I THINK TEBOW, IF NOT A FUTURE STUD, WOULD BE BETTER THAN OVER HALF OF THE STARTING QB’S IN THE LEAGUE. HE IS A PROVEN WINNER, A PROVEN CHARACTER, AND I THINK HE WILL MAKE WHATEVER TEAM DRAFTS HIM , THAT MUCH BETTER….(COMICAL THAT ONE WOULD SAY, TAKES A CHANCE ON HIM)…..OH WELL, GOOD LUCK TO TEBOW, AND TO ALL YOU HATERZ…….I WILL PRAY FOR YOU!!!!!!!

  32. akbillsfan says: Mar 10, 2010 1:26 PM

As a BILLS fan, I would love to see Tebow in Buffalo. Anything but “Capt. Check Down” Trent Edwards…anything to give us a spark…and if it doesn’t pan out, then we right back where we were with Aaron Maybin, Erik Flowers, Mike Williams, Donte Whitner, James Hardy, etc, etc. …
