Vikes, Bengals could pursue Phillip Buchanon

Though the typical procedure entails other NFL teams cutting a guy and then the Lions becoming interested in signing them, there’s a guy the Lions cut who is drawing interest from two of the other NFL teams.

Specifically, the Vikings and the Bengals are interested in former Lions cornerback Phillip Buchanon.

Buchanon, a first-round pick of the Raiders in 2002, joined the Lions last year after a successful stint with the Buccaneers.

    Any updates on Leigh Bodden?

Buchanon needs to be in a Zone heavy scheme to have any sort of success. That is why he worked out initially at Oakland and then in Tampa. He was not good in Houston because he was asked to play too much man.

How far have the Vikings fallen that they are looking at Detroit Lion scraps?

waste of time, Minn ought to go after Leigh Bodden
and i don’t kno who would want to play for the bengals, with those horrible colors and uniform

Would be a good choice for the Bengals. Buchanon has flashed at points and might be able to win the nickel job from Morgan Trent (who could then be utilized as a coverage S).

Not sure why the Bengals would be looking at Buchanon, unless they’re hoping to get from him what they got from Tory James a few years ago… a couple of good years. But with Hall and Joseph already playing at near pro-bowl form, it makes me wonder if the Bengals are concerned about shelling out big deals to both of them?

His old position coach in Tampa (Raheem Morris) is now HEAD coach.. I wonder if they would consider bringing him back?

    You, sir, are a moron.
The Vikings are “falling” because they are looking at adding depth to their secondary? That’s like saying the Cleveland Browns are favorites to win the Super Bowl because they signed Scott Fujita away from the Saints.

Bengals already have possibly the best 1-2 punch at CB in the entire league but they could use a decent nickel back, which is exactly what Buchanan would be.

Come on Vikes pull the trigger on a trade for your number one pick… I want Nnamdi Asomugha to be a Viking!

Leigh Bodden is a detroit castoff too and for some reason people think he’s an impact player. He always got torched in the D.

Given his expectations aren’t high after playing for the Lions, there is a chance that he would see the Vikings as a step up. He has a chance to fire up the bong with Percy, speed along at more than 100 mph with various teammates, go to strip clubs with McKinnie and the best part is that he can totally ignore the head coach, why not? the rest of the team has tuned him out.

green bay would be the best fit, the dude could get his ‘roids from A.J. and go cruisin’ with Jolly and become one mean ass bust instead of a wuss bust. he could learn how to hold like all the packer db’s and then get named defensive MVP.

The Vikes determination to sign a corner via free agency tells me that they want to address other areas in the draft.

This is the best crap this shitty franchise can even think about pursuing because it is not like they have an extra 12 million hanging around….remember to send a thank you billboard down to Captain Podunk for hanging you over the barrel.
    You get what you deserve.
