Sorry but that’s just not true. The police do not run out and arrest a man the minute a woman points a finger at him–even if he’s just Joe Citizen. They must be able to show a crime was committed and have probable cause to show the accused committed the crime.
Oftentimes, cops pull in Joe Suspect, who starts running his mouth either because he’s guilty and thinks he can outsmart them … or because he’s innocent and thinks telling the truth will make it go away. They might hammer on him for hours and hours and hours. Doofus never thinks to ask for a lawyer because A) he’s smarter than everyone in the room, or B) he’s innocent and assumes innocent people never go to prison. So he winds up saying something incriminating, or out of fear and exhaustion, parroting the words the cops feed to him. Then you’re right. Joe Suspect gets arrested really fast.
If you’re innocent, then no matter how long they keep you or what they say or do or promise … never never never open your mouth to say anything other than: “I want to speak to an attorney.” You have a right to remain silent. Use it. Wrongful convictions based on coerced confessions are not just the stuff of movies.
Two of Ben’s bodyguards that night were Pittsburgh cops. My guess is they impressed that on him when the Milledgeville cops spoke to them.

No you are misunderstanding what I am saying. I don’t hate them, I understand that it has to be tough to deal with the constant attention and scrutiny. I am merely saying that I can’t stand the way some deal with it compared to others. Some are obviously more mature and can handle it while some jsut don’t get it. For example, I met Na’il Diggs and not many people would know who he was outside of Green Bay and Charlotte, and it would have been impossible to know based on his demeanor. He wasn’t wearing tons of diamonds or being flashy, he was just being a normal dude. Now is it fair to compare someone of that level to Ben, no but I compare him to Adam Morrison. I met him while he played for the Bobcats and he was just a giant a-hole. That is all I am saying. I hate Liberal ideals myself but I am always curious to hear their reasoning just so I know what people who disagree with me think and why they think it.

Another thing… These girls supposedly had no idea who Ben was at first, but they liked him enough to go bar hopping with him. The accuser also must have a very bright future in guessing peoples height and weight at a carnival. In her description of Ben to the police, she said he was 6’5″ tall and weighed 241 lbs. Go to nfl.com and type in Ben Roethlisberger. His profile should pop up. I don’t know of any person who is supposedly in a “hysteric” state of mind, that can nail a person’s height and weight to a T. Who says “Oh that guy definitely weighs 241 lbs? ” Smells fishy, don’t you think???

So Chap, you basically said that you hate every pro athlete, but you love pro sports. That’s like me saying that I hate Liberals, but I love watching the Democratic Primaries. Seems Masochistic to put yourself through the pain of watching these horrible people make millions of dollars. You can’t knock a lifestyle that you have never experienced. You have no idea what it’s like to not have a normal life. I don’t either, but I can imagine that it would suck pretty bad to be hounded everywhere I go. To have to spend an extra 30 minutes at the store signing autographs and taking pictures, when all I wanted to get was some formula for my baby. These guys are trained from day 1 to watch their asses while in the public. People are going to go after you. People are going to snap pictures of you, and plaster them all over the web. They are going to hold you to a standard that the President of the USA is held to. They are on guard 24/7. So when you meet them, please excuse them if they don’t seem like it’s a pleasure to meet you. I’ve always said that I’d love to be rich, but I’d hate to be famous.

Just remember this boys and girl if anyone of us were facing this kind of thing it would be from a jail cell.
This is bullshit he should go to the cops and get it over with not consult with this one and that.
The cops should say if your not here by noon we will come and find you.
This is a glaring example of what is wrong in this world if your some big time star you have your own set of laws.
If it was any average NFL fan we would be cuffed and draged away to jail. As it should be

Your comment on the other thread got the guilt-by-association tag. It’s forgotten.
Rod Woodson broke my lil heart when he left. I love my team but will never fall in love with another player unless they end free agency.
I’ve also defended Irvin, Lewis, Plaxico, and vehemently defended Tom Cable–and I can’t stand the Cowboys, Raiders, or Ravens. Yes, pro athletes often act like jerks. I’ve met a few myself, but don’t fawn over them. But they can be easy targets, too. That’s why we need to wait and see.
Assuming these accusations are untrue–and thus far there’s nothing to suggest otherwise–Ben’s slate is somewhat cleaner than Michael Irvin’s, Chap. Irvin’s had drug issues, and though I don’t believe he raped anyone, wasn’t he married when these incidents occurred? I don’t recall the media treating Irvin differently than Roethlisberger. If you mean ESPN, say “ESPN,” not “the media.” ESPN apparently has its own agenda.
If you’ll research, you’ll find Ben does quite a bit of charity work. The guy was out celebrating his 28th birthday. It’s unfortunate he chose to celebrate with college kids, but not everyone settles down and marries at your age. EVERY account I’ve read and every interview I’ve seen from Milledgeville–except a couple of comments from women (or mothers of women) who found him arrogant–says he was polite, respectful, and accommodating to photo- and autograph-seekers that night. Somehow I don’t think all those people are lying.

No sir, I wasn’t, nor did I defend Irvin. My wife did however have lunch with Irvin at a company charity event, sat right next to him, and said he was quite the respectable individual. Of course Fat Ben was out drinking and Irvin was in a suit at a charity benefit so you can’t really compare the two situations. I did mention how wierd it was that Irvin is assumed guilty by everyone immediately and Ben seems to get the benefit of the doubt. Same thing for Ray Lewis and other various examples. The media double standard irritates the hell out of me and makes me dislike the fat a$$ for other reasons than him playing for the Steelers.
I am personally flawed in the fact that I generally view athletes as guilty, mostly due to the majority, not all, of their selfish, arrogant, “I can have anything” attitude. When I lived in Charlotte, NC I had the opportunity to meet several professional athletes, from the Bobcats and Panthers, and the majority of them, with the exception of David Carr and Na’il Diggs, were arrogant a$$ holes.
And as far as Deb, I was seriously busting chops, it wasn’t personal, as I explained, and if she took it personal then there is nothing I can do about that.

I was referring to his arrogance and sense of entitlement, which I compared to Tiger Woods, hence the 15 number, and that he would just thumb his nose at everyone and continue in his ways (like he is accused of doing). Number 2… I don’t read every single comment on here so I had no way of knowing that some doucher said something about draggin you to a restroom so in no way was my comment to you letting Ben follow you into a bathroom was related. It was more so a jab at being a Steelers fan and potentially being in love with Ben because he is “your” QB.
Lastly, I am too young to know who Barney Fife was or who George Raft is. I would make some sort of “removing sand and panties” joke here but I am affraid you would take it seriously and as a result be offended….. oops

I would never want anyone to take from my comments that I’m defending abusive behavior toward women. I’m not. But I recognize that women sometimes make false claims. And I’m concerned about society’s rush to label people sex offenders when they aren’t. I’ve known a lot of rape survivors–funny, but there was no ambiguity in any of their stories. Many were children under 12. Some were raped during home invasions. One was kidnapped at gunpoint. Some were drugged or beaten or assaulted by gangs, terrorized, stalked, emotionally abused over long periods and paralyzed by fear. Every one of them fought, argued, pleaded, cried, begged, struggled, and was physically overpowered.
I can’t think of one who simply said “You don’t want to do this” then sued for $3 million. In fact, not one filed a civil suit. Somehow money wasn’t on their minds. Only two filed criminal charges.
Vox is right. No manner of sexual assault is silly. But it will be interesting to learn exactly what she’s alleging … and whether it leads to a civil suit for money.

Mail order brides are desperate by nature of the way that they’ve chosen to “market” themselves and you cannot integrate them into the United States without them having contact with other women. Once that happens, it’s all over so unless your mail order bride is content to be locked in a house forever. You’re just exposing yourself.
