Marlin Jackson will visit Eagles next

After a stylish visit with the Ravens Tuesday, Marlin Jackson’s limo is headed north to Philadelphia.

The Eagles announced that Jackson will meet with the Eagles Tuesday, then meet the media.  Baltimore’s interest in Jackson wasn’t believed to be overly serious.

The Vikings were also expected to show interest in Jackson, who is coming off ACL surgery.

The Eagles are reportedly interested in Jackson as a free safety.  Jackson played cornerback with the Colts.

Hmmm. I had thought they’d move Sheldon to safety and plug Jackson in at CB.
Unless they think his knee injury is going to rob him of the speed and turn-n-run ability to play CB.
I guess Ron Solt, Stacey Andrews, Jack Batguano, and Montae Reagor vouched for Marlin’s knee – they say it’s tip-top.

Hopefully the Birds sign this guy and let Macho Harris return to CB where played well in college. Asante Samuel, Sheldon Brown, Ellis Hobbs, Joslelio Hansen and Macho Harris is a pretty strong group at the CB position, no matter what you haters are gonna say. They might not have the BEST CB in the league, but they have a nice group of pretty good corners.

Sean jones seems to be a better fit then this guy. This will be the 12th time I scratch my head this week about the eagles choices.

Isn’t he a little too old?
As well as too busy touring, reality-showing, etc. with the Jackson 4?

MOOCH, I heard Marliin Jackson had played some SS and FS for the Colts so its not like the Eagles wouild be moving him to safety because they dont think his knee will hold up.

    Old!? He’s 26.

sean jones played terrible last year in coverage and in run support….he was routinely beat in man coverage and never wrapped up….marlin jackson has much more range and was an extremely physical corner who should translate to safety very well in the eagles system

buddha, who wouldn’t say that’s a great group?

Taylor mays! Thats what the eagles need!

guy has skills, but the ACL’s gives pause to anyone thinking about signing the dude. We need CB’s on the Ravens, but more bad knees isn’t where we need.

it’s just a try out so chill out and he’s only 26

No. Marlon Jackson is 52 years old. I’m sure he’s very busy with his other brothers after burying Michael last year.

Dumb. Another cheap reach by the Eagles FO. If the ‘Gold Standard’ is signing/drafting guys coming off major surgery then consider the Eagles the ‘Gold Standard’ of the NFL.
This team most certainly will not win a SB, or even beat the Cowboys, until the Birds admit they’re not good enough to keep trading out of the first round and stop the signing/drafting/counting on high risk/reward players like Stacy, Shawn, Bloom, Ingram, Jack Ike, Clemons. Right now they’re Joe Banner’s financial experiment, nothing more.

Sounds like an option, but I really think we need an enforcer in the defensive backfield. Opposing WR’s must know fear.
When is the last time our safety position was so unsettled. We went from Wes Hopkins (a top 5 favorite Eagle of mine) and Waters to Zordich / Greg Jackson, to Dawkins.
This position has rarely been a problem, Rich Miano and Eric McMillian aside.

Jeez, Jackson is a piece of crap. Stop signing low-risk low-reward players coming off of ACL tears, Joe “nickel bags” Banner. So cheap. We need a real Safety like OJ Atogwe. Jackson sucks. A cover 2 corner would never fit our system, and he’s not a ballhawk or physical enough for safety in our system. I’d actually rather have Macho start instead of some dude from the bargain bin. The Eagles are about building through the draft all the time, which is a solid strategy. but they never want to win now. By the time their young guys are in their prime, the team will be drafting their successor and begin a new cycle of good but not great Eagles. To win a Super Bowl, you need to make a splash somewhere in the offseason. The Eagles have done it a few times, but except for Asante Samuel and Jon Runyan, none of those have worked out

Meh. Jackson’s okay, but I’d much rather they used free agent dollars to sign Aaron Kampman and traded up to draft Earl Thomas to fill the safety spot. They have the picks to trade up, and they might only need to get into the low teens to snag Thomas.

    A-T-O-G-W-E!!!
Vick has said he wants to go to the RAMS!!!!
The Rams clearly don’t value Atogwe as they should considering they franchised him last year instead of signing him to a long term deal.
He’s a true safety and just straight out better than Jackson although he is 2 years older. But the eagles will certainly draft a safety, hopefully not Mays… he’s another Roy Williams in the making… I like the Texas Safety much smarter player.
