Report: Bobbie Williams nearing deal with Bengals

B. Williams.jpgThe Bengals are close to a deal to retain guard Bobbie Williams, a key to their vastly improved running game last season.

We thought Williams may get some interest from around the league, but we haven’t heard much about the 33-year-old guard over the last week.

Carlos Holmes of the Middletown Journal says the deal should keep Williams in stripes for the rest of his career.

Williams has been a mainstay in Cincinnati, starting every game except three since he joined the club in 2004.

Wait, this guy’s never been arrested? Why is he signing with Cincinnati? Is he about to commit a crime?

How is he a key to an improved running game if he has been there since 04?
I thought he might sign with Pittsburgh, but the rape allegations were false.

One of the best run blocking guards in the game. It’ll be great to have him re-signed.

And of course here come all the Bengal haters. Never fails. I guess you all are forgetting we have just as many off-the-field issues as any other team out there now. Our major issues are far behind us. Oh yeah and good luck with that rapist there Steelers. I’m sure that won’t be a distraction at all this year!

Bobbie Williams is the man. Coolest dude in the NFL in my opinion.

this has the smell of willie anderson all over again. lets overpay a good locker room, but declining, veteran so he can stay a bengal the rest of his career. that said, if they get him cheap, i’m ok with it. given the bengals record of underpaying stars and overpaying veterans, i don’t have a good feeling. we shall see.

Ha. Quite possibly the worst attempt at humor in PFT comments history. The Bengals…. have stripes… on their uniforms. Of course it wouldn’t be the first time, you moron.

33 years old? Sure to be a guaranteed money in the first year and low money for whatever comes afterwards.
    Tank Johnson re-signs.
    Bobbie Williams re-signs.
I remember the HBO Hard Knocks episode where Tank was out on the town with another Bengal. He didn’t seem to think much of Cincy as a town. Marvin must have a good thing going to keep Tank.

The arrests are old news. I think since 2006 we have just had a couple guys get DUIs. There are a lot of teams out there with more arrest issues over the last 3-4 years.
I’m glad for Bobbie but am hoping for Iupati in the draft.

Bengal D2…signing TO won’t be a distraction, will it? Can’t wait for the first monkey poop fight in that locker room. “I want the ball!” “No, Ocho gets the ball unless he’s triple covered!”
All the while Caldwell is gonna break Housh’s reception mark, hopefully.

  18. heavyj39 says: Mar 9, 2010 2:40 PM

I would love for Caldwell to become Housh but even as a diehard fan I dont see it. But I hope I am wrong.

Now lets get Owens and Bryant signed and it will be a great off season and we havent even had the draft yet.
