After spending eight seasons with the New Orleans Saints, defensive end Charles Grant was released last week.
Now Grant wants to make the Saints pay for that decision twice a year.
In an interview with Sirius NFL Radio, Grant named the Falcons and Panthers as teams he’d like to play for because, he says, he hopes to face the Saints twice a season. Grant also named the Titans, who could use a veteran defensive end after losing Kyle Vanden Bosch in free agency, as a team where he thinks he could fit.
Grant started all 16 games for the Saints in 2009 and said “I want to be a starter” in 2010.
One issue that could affect teams’ interest in Grant: Depending on the outcome of the Pat Williams/Kevin Williams case, Grant could be suspended four games in 2010 for taking StarCaps.
Tampa?
Please Carolina we need a monster DE since Julius “Greedy” Peppers left
So he wants revenge for being handed a ton of money for mediocre production?
Seriously, we all know that Tampa needs someone to be a leader in the locker room. I’ll take him in a heart beat!
From a Saints fan’s persepective, I’d like to seem them play Charles Grant twice per year. Overrated, overpaid. Notorious for making a halfway-decent play, then taking the next 10 off.
please let them sign him!
Overated just like the Saints, should go to Tampa
Grant should still be suspended for four games no matter how the Williams trial turns out. Just another example of the Saints doing nothing, earning nothing while the Minnesota Vikings give them a hand out. What a joke of city, should be allowed to get washed away next time.
Yes, I’d prefer if he went to Atlanta because I see the Falcons as the Saints #1 contender in the NFC South. Having Grant on their defense will only help the Saints’ chances of sweeping them every year.
For those of you clamoring for Grant, especially from Carolina, do you really know what you’re asking for? Grant signed a massive contract and provided mediocre performance. He was good in the run game but if you can’t get pressure on the quarterback you’re not gonna last. He lasted a few years but usually his mouth made more plays than he did on the field.
If you think that he’s going to bring “leadership to the locker room” it depends on what you define as leadership. Do you define it as a guy who talks so big but then produces so little? Then you have the right guy. If you’re looking for a game changing DE then he isn’t what you’re looking for. He’s a solid starter, but not a breakout player. Besides the Starcaps case, he’s been injured and put on IR the last two years and if you’d look at him you’d be amazed that he makes the weight requirements every year.
He’s a nice guy if you meet him in person but not a high caliber pass rusher.
zappa’s wrong. New Orleans is an amazing city. Most unique city in this country. She’s probably never been there.
Hey zappa, you stay classy with all the non-football talk. Sour grapes still? Get over it – your vikes choked and lost to the better team. What a joke of a poster.
New Orleans is an amazing city but not in a good way. Filthy. I will say the food is outstanding. But having Ray Nagin as your spokesman is embarassing. And then re-electing him? Yikes.
Zappa, the only hand out during the Saints Vikings game was the one given to pull Favre’s broken ass off the turf… WHO DAT?!!!! SUPERBOWL Tastes soooooo good!!!!
“Most unique city in this country”
Glowing endorsement for that toilet bowl.
dldove, zappa is just continuing the tradition that Vikings fans have set as being the biggest whiners in the league. You see they all got a little too much sand in their verginers from the pro bowl in Miami. Yes they were able to play in the pro bowl because they lost the nfc championship game by choking and gift wrapping 5 turnovers for the saints. That team didn’t deserve to win that game because they couldn’t hold on to the ball, the #1 rule in football.
Let zappa and her like continue the crying, it only brings back good memories for all Saints fans…as I quote Joe Buck on that glorious night “HARTLEY, SENDS THE SAINTS TO THE SUPERBOWL!!!”
p.s. that’s a great quote from that game, the 2nd best line was from the Vikings radio broadcast: “Brett Favre goes back to pass, he pumps, now he fires over the middle, intercepted I can’t believe what I’m seeing right now. It was intercepted by Tracy Porter.
You’ve gotta be kidding me I can’t believe what I just saw.
- Looking at that play he should’ve just held on to it Paul, he could’ve easily got five or six yards, if he would’ve just pulled that thing down and dove forward.
-But why do you even ponder passing? I mean you can take a knee, and try a 56 yard field goal! This is not Detroit man this is the Super Bowl!”
ah, great memories, beating the Vikings, can’t wait to do it again next season!
Please…someone in the NFC South pick him up…we will have a field day on his ass!
By the way, he has a 4game suspension on tap and still has to go to trial for charges of a female that was killed in Georgia a year ago!
Good luck!
I heard if he could play for any two teams in the league it would be Carolina because he likes their uniforms.
eric the clown, zappa et al – Superbowl is over. Saints won. Get over it. Great city. Great food. Great culture. You thought Who Dat was annoying? Wait until we repeat and we start chanting Two Dat!!!
Your city, Minnysoter or wherever you 2 clowns live together – sucks. Boring people. No culture. Bad football. Loser. I am surprised you can even respond to messages, but I guess even garbage men have wireless broadband cards today….
WHO DAT!!!!!!!
The only leadership Grant will display is being first in line at the lunch buffet….
I’m not particularly a Saints fan. I like them. I have no allegiance to them…but New Orleans is one of the great cities in this country. It has marched to its own beat since the United States acquired it, and some of the most interesting history and culture has come from there. Great place.
I will say to a degree the Vikings lost that game as much as the Saints won it…but the Saints were the ones that did not absolutely choke down the stretch. Oh and they pretty much owned the Colts in the 2nd half of the Super Bowl. I’d say the team earned something there…but understand the argument that they didn’t in the NFC CG. Understanding does not mean agreeing though.
zappa be like Darren Sharper and stfu

Any team that signs Grant to anything more than a veteran minimum contract with monster incentives will be very sorry. The only thing Grant does better than anybody else is shove his fat rear end to the front of the lunch line.
Any guaranteed money will be eaten before opening day……..
Zappa, Eric, et al. I’ve seen our Lombardi Trophy, in person. Glorious sight. I actually hope you guys finally win one some day. You should really think before you post though. Do you really wish doom on an entire city because your football team lost and in great part because of your own QB throwing an interception? That’s an awful philosophy to live by.
Charles Grant has already played the Saints: when he parlayed a career year into a fat contract, then proceeded to stay out of shape and injured ever since. Good riddance.
The only thing this guys stops is a buffet!

Hard to be overrated when you’re the sitting world champions.
Stop slamming Charles Grant he happens to be a friend of mine and is a great guy. He did a lot for the Saints and im sad to see him go but I wish him the best wherever he ends up. And for you Zappa, you can kiss my ass! New Orleans is a great city and I am damn proud to say its my home town. Im a die hard Saints fan but I feel Charles got a bad deal. So Charles I aint mad at ya! GO SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
