In what is likely start of a growing trend, Broncos restricted free agents Elvis Dumervil and Tony Scheffler will stay away from offseason conditioning workouts in Denver that starts Monday.
(Monday? Really? The offseason for these guys is ridiculously short.)
“I’m going to work out with my dad,” Dumervil said. His father served 13 years in the Marines.
Scheffler’s absence is no surprise, as he’s believed to be on the trade block. The absence of Dumervil and other key players will be more noticeable if they don’t show up for on-field work, as a few agents are recommending.
Staying away from offseason practice will be a way for players to show they are unhappy with their status as RFAs because of the uncapped year.
