Currently, they are the best NFL team in the AFC North.
I think it was a good move, but I hope that he can end up proving that he is worth 7M/year. I would take TO as well, but only for about 1-2M/year, otherwise, he is not worth the headache. Bryant has problems as well, but if the Bengals can keep winning, that will take care of most of them. Hopefully they win a playoff game. They need to compete with the Ravens for the AFC North, otherwise, it is pretty wide open.

Yes, Carson Palmer is a ‘respectable, low key guy’. Seems like a great guy, without a doubt. Unfortunately for you, he is also grossly overrated and has yet to win a single playoff game.

I hope Chad and he stay healthy.
He will fit the role we need him for as long as hes healthy. Sometimes giving a guy some money makes him work up to the expectations, hopefully that is the case with Bryant. He wont pout on Marvins team. Some people fail to realize that recently Marvin has run a tight ship when it comes to team play and self sacrifice after the incidents in 06-08. Its why he was recognized as coach of the year imo. We have stable, responsible leadership in the team now and Bryant will fall in line if he wants to win.

Pass protection logical improvement? Let’s see, they allowed the 9th fewest sacks as a team in the NFL. I really wish people here were at least semi intelligent.

Is this a good move by the Bengals? No, I believe it’s a GREAT move.
I was leaning towards the Bengals as next year’s champs, but I’ve been unsure of what to make of Carson Palmer.
Now, they get another quality receiver to complement Chad instead of getting that guy who would just make the circus tent bigger.
This should make Palmer’s job much easier.
I guess I’ll go with the Bengals to win the Super Bowl unless the Falcons make all the necessary upgrades.

Bryant is a deep threat while Boldin is not.
It’s funny when the experts are all lauding this contract, while the peanut gallery is calling it a bad deal. It’s a great deal for Cincy…it’s the need they had to fill.

I am amazed that anyone would value Bryant at the same money as Boldin, that is crazy. Bryant has had 1 good season and 1 pretty good season mixed in with a bunch of under-achievement and off field issues. Boldin is not only a better, more consistent receiver, but by all accounts he is a great locker room leader.
Also these lines are pretty damn funny:

How exactly did you come to those conclusions, by the $28M contract they awarded to an average at best WR? Do you think anyone is going to pay Derrick Mason $7M/yr (for even 1 year) and compare him to Bryant over the past 3 years . . . Mason: 85 catches, 1,051 yards and 5.7Tds per season – Bryant 54 catches, 860 yards and 4.7 Tds per season. Bryant has exactly 2 season of greater than 1,000 yards, out of 7 seasons. Hell Mason has 7 – 1,000+ yard season out of the last 8.
According to the conclusions you have drawn here, exactly how much do you think they would have paid Bryant had they not flirted with TO and Marshall?

How exactly did a $7M/year contract for Bryant lead you to those conclusions? Do you think Derrick Mason is going to get a $7M/year (for any amount of years) contract . . . compare his stats over the last 3 years to Bryant’s: Mason 85 catches 1,051 yards and 5.67 TDs per year – Bryant 54 catches, 860 yards and 4.7 TDs per year.
Bryant has had exactly 2 seasons out of his entire 8 year career with over a thousand yards, Mason has done that the past

Similar contract as Coles so no surprise, I’m glad they didn’t go $10 Mil. Coles was a big bust, I had more expectations from him. He had a good work ethic and I think was a good influence on the other young WRs, not sure the same can be said about Bryant, but maybe so. Looking at the QBs this guy has had, he could do very well if Carson returns to his old form. Bryant is younger by about 3 years and is a better fit for what the Bengals need. I just hope injuries have not slowed Bryant down, seems like it is still a gamble and is a little high, but there are so few options this year.
Chad will still be number 1, even if he doesn’t make as much. Caldwell may be much better in his 3rd year, we probably can’t judge him until after the season. Especially if Bryant can stretch the field.
Marshall would take much more to sign, plus cost a 1st rnd pick, and there was no way to know if Marshall will turn things around, on and off the field. Marshall had issues with the team/coach and was charged then dropped for a domestic dispute in the past year. Bryant’s issues were in the past.

Riiiiight. I wouldn’t exactly use the word “unstoppable” to describe the lineup. And just how do you plan on keeping all of those egos in check when one of them will be the 3rd option at best. Talk about 3 guys that are overpaid and under-performers. At least two of them are known locker room cancers and all of them are all about me,me.me. Chad at 5 mil and Bryant at 7 mil. Owens will expect to get paid about 5 mil. Yes, I’d say the Bengals would do something stupid like pay 17 million for one position (excluding the 4th/5th receivers) just to get stomped should they make the playoffs.
I mean, seriously, do you really believe what you wrote? Not a single one of those guys scares defenses anymore. Why not go out and sign Jerry Rice and Paul Warfield while you’re at it.
I didn’t even touch on the young guys who would pick up bad habits and have their NFL growth stunted (or just get out-right cut) just to play out an experiment with 3 WRs who will be 30, 32, and 36 when the season starts.
Where do you people come up with this stuff?
