Rams, Lions watch Gerald McCoy work out

The scouting combine is over, but that doesn’t mean NFL coaches and general managers are done watching draft prospects work out in their underwear.

Oklahoma had its pro day on Tuesday, and both the St. Louis Rams, owners of the first overall pick, and Detroit Lions, owners of the second, had some of their top decision-makers on hand to check out defensive tackle Gerald McCoy.

Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that McCoy’s workout was “great, as expected.”

McCoy went through position-specific drills but did not do the bench press, meaning any teams that have questions about his strength after he managed just 23 reps of 225 pounds at the combine have not had those questions answered.

Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford did not participate in the pro day; he’ll have his own workout for NFL personnel on March 25.

Good move by the Rams because they’re not tipping their hand and giving anyone leverage unless they don’t show up for workouts by Suh and Bradford.

McCoy said that he would do the bench press when Bradford works out on the 25th.

Are they watching white players work out too? Rooney rule for players too!

I guess if it is 3rd down and 24 reps to go for a first down you would have to take him off the field. I hate that.

    3 team pre-draft ruze.
The Bucs had an unofficial associate in attendance.
23′s a good number as it’s likely gonna be McCoy’s sack total in his first two years of playing, yup.
