Shaun Smith’s visit to the Chiefs will result in a permanent stay.
Herbie Teope of Time Warner Sports in Kansas City got confirmation from Smith’s agent over the phone that the free agent defensive tackle has agreed to terms on a one-year deal.
Smith has previously played under Romeo Crennel in Cleveland.
UPDATE: The Chiefs have confirmed the move.
Never trust a skinny chef.
And suddenly there is one less team Brady Quinn will want to be shipped to…. despite Weis being with KC but considering it was he and Shaun Smith that got into fisticuffs in Cleveland.
Who?
The Chiefs are making alot of interesting moves.
Could there be a power shift in the AFC West?
If he smacked Quinn, I wonder how long it’ll be before he KO’s Haley?
Yes, the Chiefs are finally making the moves. And good ones. We needed a NT to plug the middle for a year or two while ew draft a NT. This will help a ton along with the T Jones addition. Now if we get Okung or (E Berry and a LT in the 2nd round) we will be really moving. Add a decent WR besides Bowe and Chambers and we could go 8-8 next year. Huge improvement!!
The deal is reported to be work 2.5 million………..hamburgers.
Smith’s attitude is terrible at best. Caused problems everywhere he has been. Cincy, Cleveland, and now KC.
Yep, anytime you sign a guy who was out 4 games last year due to steroids suspension it’s a good move. What a joke! You can paint a turd gold but underneath it’s still a turd.
Smith is a HUGE POS. He has the most overinflated view on himself out of anyone else inthe league. If you talk to him, he is one of the top 10 DL in the league…
“We needed a NT to plug the middle…”
Plug the middle.
AFC West is dead also Florio.
Wait, I thought KC was trying to rebuild??
Smith is a slug. Is KC out of money or what happened? I can’t wait till he punches Matt Cassell out.
Funny thing is, I thought Weis being at KC and Quinnn being shopped and Cassell sucking last year meant Quinn might go to KC. But how much Cleveland wreckage can one team bring in at once?
I’m sorry to say the only power shift is Denver. Especially if they keep Marshall. I see them getting McClain and if J. Williams has anything left (I think he does). Jarvis Green from N.E. is a beast at DE. I do like Smith but he obviously has problems with players on his own team. It could be B. Quinn had it coming but at the time he was the franchise. What if he pops Cassell? Once again I could understand but we needed J. Williams bad, and really could have used Green on the other side of Jackson. McGee will be nothing more then rotational and we need to trade Dorsey for a pack of peanuts
