Larry Foote calls Cardinals his first choice

Free agent linebacker Larry Foote is in Arizona for a meeting with the Cardinals, and although the Cardinals weren’t his first visit, he says they are his first choice.

Foote described the Cardinals as his first choice when speaking to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic.

Foote previously visited the Redskins, and Washington remains a viable option for him. He could also return to the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played from 2002 to 2008.

But while the Cardinals, Redskins and Steelers are all interested in Foote, it’s not clear whether any of them are interested in paying him what he wants. Foote reportedly wants a deal at least as good as the three-year $14 million contract that linebacker Scott Fujita signed with the Browns.

Foote started 14 games for the Lions last year but will not be returning to Detroit.
