In 2009, few players on the Denver Broncos benefited more from the arrival of new head coach Josh McDaniels than defensive end Kenny Peterson. McDaniels and Peterson are old friends who had been high school teammates, and Peterson went from a career backup to a starter.
But today Peterson is out of work, as the Broncos announced that he has been released.
The additions of Jarvis Green, Justin Bannan and Jamal Williams have upgraded the Broncos’ defensive line, and the team has apparently concluded that there’s no room on the roster for Peterson anymore. The 31-year-old Peterson is now an unrestricted free agent.
The Broncos also announced that they’ve waived guard Mitch Erickson.
Man – so McDaniels stabs an old friend in the back?
Who does he think he is? Eric Mangini?
@ JOE SIXPACK: are you in high school? Making a personnel change has NOTHING to do with friendship.
Tard.
Josh must have sent him a text and Kenny did not return it so he got cut….
Jay
The image of “he must have knowledge…he worked with Bill Belechick” has worn thin over the past few years. You remember Romeo Crennel. Charlie Weis. Eric Mangini.
In the end, you’re really only as good as your players. I’m no fan of this guy or his “genius”, and I’m less of a fan of the New England coach.
I’m hoping the clock has struck midnight for this bunch.
@milehiclown
Seriously I benched a coworker when I coached Semi pro “In Denver” and our relationship was never the same. Does not have anything to do with High School and yes it will have at the least a minimal effect on the relationship……
@JMoney
As the Head Coach of an NFL team McDaniels has to make decisions based on the team not his firendships. This isn’t semi pro ball and he is getting paid quite well to make tough decisions. If Peterson doesn’t realize this then he should grow up. Not to mention the fact that McDaniels gave Peterson a better opportunity than any coach had ever given him before, so he should be greatful for what McD did for him in the past and accept that the team improved at his position and needed to move on.
Tough call, but that’s the game.

Tard.
If anybody lets go of his no. 1 QB, then runs off a def coordinator ( that kept his way overmatched team in the lead for the first half of the AFC WEST)
Then loses a no. 1 receiver…who’s the tard. They GAGGED last year, and McDummy is going to get a wake up call, even if they signed Justin Bannan and Jamal Williams.
It’s about time McDaniels starts acting like a HEAD coach..
@BroncoBourque
If Jesus himself cut me I would have hard feelings towards him. Its not abou growing up. They say dont hire friends and family for a reason!
It figures only Bronco homers are blind to Mcdumbazz and his sophmoric moves….
Like I said, there will be minor dissapointment at the minimum from camp Kenny and thats NOT highschool crap….
milehiclown says: “Tard”
Well at least we KNOW milehiclown is in high school at best.
Anyone with more of an education would know how tasteless it is to mock the developmentally disabled with such a derogatory term.
Speaking of mocking, milehiclown might do well to recognize a toungue in cheek remark regarding McDaniels and Mangini.
(In other words, yes, I actually DO understand that McDaniels doesn’t automatically owe players on his High School Football team a place on the roster.
Next time I’ll try to make it clear when I’m using sarcasm for those of you who sometimes seem to be Developmentally Disabled.)
