Stretch limo at Winter Park means L.T. is in the house

Though the Vikings’ pursuit of running back LaDainian Tomlinson is not yet creating the same kind of abandon-your-car-and-follow-the-SUV-like-it’s-carrying-Wayne-Gretzky-and-the-Olympic-torch frenzy in Minnesota, Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune points out that a stretch limo is parked in front of the team’s facility.

Unless Brett Favre is in town (and unless Brad Childress is dressed up as a limo driver, male or female), it means that L.T. is in the building.

Let the serious talks begin,” Zulgad says.

We’ll be waiting for the puff of white smoke to emanate from Zulgad’s Twitter page.

Why is LT taking a limo?
I heard Chilly gave him a Hummer.

Two more losses for the Pukers….. Bwaaahhhh!

  5. Chapnasty2 says: Mar 11, 2010 1:03 PM

So just because there is a limo in front of a building were several employees are multi-millionaires it is indicating “LT” is there? Anyone else see the problem with this?

  6. Ravenmuscle says: Mar 11, 2010 1:05 PM

Don’t jump to conclusions. It could be Lawrence Taylor dropping off some drugs.

  7. PackerFanTastic says: Mar 11, 2010 1:05 PM

What?!?!?!?!?! Chilly didn’t pick him up at the airport. No way would I sign if I was LT!

  8. cliffcla says: Mar 11, 2010 1:08 PM

Its pretty simple.. L.T. wants to play for a Winner. He knows with age his body will find it harder to absorb the blows associated with an every down back. The fit makes sense. At his age he will not get a long term deal with any team. At this point it is about compensation. L.T. Regardless of what his numbers are on the field. His name alone has Marketing Value. Brett Favre brought a huge boost to Minnesota’s Bottom line last year. And they are looking to do the same this year. Considering they need to get public funding for a new home it is not out of the realm of possibility that they will make a offer that L.T. Will find hard to refuse. The Jets at this point are leverage. But hey He could get some lucrative marketing dollars in the Big Apple.

  9. CanadianVikingFan says: Mar 11, 2010 1:09 PM

I wasn’t ok with this idea at first, but as long as Tomlinson knows his place, and won’t be seen bitching or sulking because of lack of action, I am good with him being signed.

  10. cliffcla says: Mar 11, 2010 1:11 PM

Um… Chapnasty.. Since it is the off season and no one is there…. Yes..It is a good possiblility that this would indicate L.T. is there.

The purple colored glasses come out again. If the Packers had been interested in LT, all the Vike fans would be laughing and saying how broken down and useless he’s been for going on three years now. But because he’s in Winter Park, that’s ’2 more losses for the Packers’. Gimme a break, man.

It depends. Does the limo have a heavily-tinted windshield?

  22. Bun McSticky says: Mar 11, 2010 1:34 PM

Its how people are picked up from the airport and shuttled around…many companies do this for employees, prospective employees, management, etc. Its not big deal anymore getting a limo like it was 20+ years ago.
A big stretch limo has been the way Minneapolis reporters have known free agents are visiting the Viking’s Winter Park headquarters.

Let’s be clear — it cuts both ways. If the LT were visiting the Pack, many of these same dolts bashing the decision now would be extolling the virtue and intelligence of the potential signing by the Packers.
For those fans who can’t see beyond their own teams, that SOP. The wise and informed fan can go beyond classifying any move made by their team as good, and any move made by their nemesis as bad.
Thus, while it’s fun to bash the Packers / Vikings depending on your loyalties, people should realize where homerism stops and an actual opinion of legitimacy of any move begins…

Fans naturally will prefer players on their own teams over rivals. If that is the point you are making then congrats captain obvious.
The point we try to make is that we don’t obsess over your “news”. We don’t care what you do. The only reason you get attention from us is that you incessently whine in our threads about how bad we are.

  43. mnmaverick says: Mar 11, 2010 2:48 PM

Naw, it’s the Packer fans who burn jerseys and hold mock funerals.
The local Viking fans living in Minnesota are pretty humble and realistic. The out of state bunch living in other areas tend to be immature. They are the majority on the ESPN NFL message boards. Why nobody other than pre-schoolers uses them anymore.

I think its a GOOD idea to bring in LT. He’s obviously on his last leg, but the Vikes can stretch him out by using him situationally. Last year was another year in decline, but he still averaged 3.3ypc on 223 carries. I’m a huge Vikes fan and have been able to watch Chester over the years. The dude is solid at best (3.6ypc on 94 carries). I’m pretty sure LT will be just as efficient if his carries are cut in half.
The biggest talker I hear is that LT will struggle as a 3rd down back. But the thing is….AP is entering his 4th year as a pro and should make the stride to be that guy. It seems ridiculous to have one of the best RBs in the league, on the sideline when it counts. LT should be a 1st and 2nd down option.

what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

  48. boozemeister says: Mar 11, 2010 3:39 PM

Wow can i not stand Packer fans that bring up the fact that the Vikings have not won a Super Bowl! Hey Packer fans, when is the last time you guys won? ummmmmmm…… 1996? yeah and all the other super bowls you won were like before we all were born. Cut the shit because everyone knows the Vikings did get screwed in the Saints game. Don’t even get me started with those calls in OT. Yes I will admit the Vikings shouldn’t have won the game with the turnovers and the stupid 12 men in the huddle but yet they still could have won showing the Saints were not that good. The refs did not have to give the Saints any help to win but yet they still did. Rigged!

  49. TheBaySay says: Mar 11, 2010 3:40 PM

If things were really serious, Tomlinson would be in Mississippi awaiting an audience to kneel and kiss the ring. The ring that Brett won as a Packer.

  50. boozemeister says: Mar 11, 2010 3:42 PM

Oh and I will just point this out. Since Childress has become the coach, we have just gotten better so watch what ya say about him. Yes he is not the best coach but he does help in signing all the good players such as the Packers beloved Favre who will now and forever be the Vikings beloved Favre since the last year Vikings were the best team he has ever played for.

  51. maverick1222 says: Mar 11, 2010 5:32 PM

really boozemeiser?… really? I think your arguement that the best team Brent has ever played for doesn’t hold much water. It is a difficult arguement to make when they LOST in the NFC Championship Game. 1996 and 1997 Packers teams were much better. They both at least made it to the Super Bowl (winning it in ’96), something the ’09 Queens can’t say happened. Not that actual wins and postseason performance should count toward which team is the “best” he has played on…. right? Very insightful on your part, I must say. By that logic, the ’08 Lions were the greatest team of all time.

  52. CaptainFantastik says: Mar 11, 2010 5:49 PM

Poor Vikings fans. No trophies. No stadium deal. Just a washed up RB who is actually a downgrade from the guy they just lost to Chicago and a guy who has thrown more season-killing INT’s in big games than he has TD’s.

  53. boltmancraft says: Mar 14, 2010 4:47 PM

Y’all are kidding yourselves if you think LT is done. I’m a Charger fan, and I KNOW if you put him behind a superior line with a seasoned FB, the man will produce. You’d be fortunate to get him, and if you do, Minnesota becomes my NFC team.
