Willie Clark guilty of killing Darrent Williams

In a verdict that is a bit more surprising given that two alternate jurors would have voted to acquit, Willie Clark has been convicted of the murder of Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams, according to Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post.

Clark has been convicted both of murdering Williams and attempted murder of the other persons in the limo in which Williams and others were riding.

The jury deliberated for a total of 12 hours over three days.

Clark will remain in jail while he awaits trial in a separate murder case.

Hope he rots in hell, thug punk. We’ll see how amusing murder is when he’s getting sodomized by the his new cell mate.

We really need to look at instituting a firing squad for individuals such as Willie Clark.

  5. Bird Man says: Mar 11, 2010 2:22 PM

“The fact that both of the alternates would have acquitted Clarks makes it unlikely that all 12 jurors will unanimously vote to convict.”
Great legal advice. Stick to your day job. Whatever that is.

    Rest in peace D-Will.
    Burn in hell Willie Clark.

  7. jb10 says: Mar 11, 2010 2:23 PM

no surprise that he was convicted. however the alternates dismissed will probably get him an appeal and a new trial some how.

Glad to hear it… but it doesn’t bring Williams back.
R.I.P., Darrent. You are and will forever be missed by us Broncos fans.

Posted by Florio on Wednesday evening:
“According to Felisa Cardona of the Denver Post, one of the jurors (a 24-year-old African-American man who asked to remain nameless) said that he believes Clark was set up by gang members who wanted Clark to take the fall for the murder.
“‘There was not enough evidence,’ the juror said. ‘Maybe if [the prosecution] had good witnesses.’
“The juror said that he thinks everyone involved in the incident should have been charged. ‘I think all of them were friends and maybe he is like their little homie and they just put him under,’ the juror said.”
Anyone who, after reading the above, is surprised by a guilty verdict is pretty stoopid. Especially those with either legal training, common sense, or both.

  15. Bell63 says: Mar 11, 2010 2:29 PM

Hope this provides some solace to Williams’ loved ones.

  16. JOOCE says: Mar 11, 2010 2:31 PM

Very happy that we was convicted, but I am suprised.
I’m sure more details will come out, but to my knowledge, there was zero proof that Willie Clark was the gunman, other than the eyewitness testimony of another career criminal that testified against Clark in exchange for having his own life sentence reduced to 5 years.
    Sounds super sketchy.

Sometimes a juror’s first impressions change after they have a chance to talk to other jurors and reflect on the evidence.

    That would be fantastic.

    You got that right.
Who knows, maybe fat boy Big Ben will treat him to a little Beef Jerky.

  21. Bob Nelson says: Mar 11, 2010 2:34 PM

It is far cheaper to give him a bullet in the back of the head and kick him in the ditch.
Now he is going to lounge around in prison for 65 years on a taxpayer bunk, eating at taxpayer expense, being clothed by the taxpayers, medical and dental care provided by the taxpayers, having taxpayer utilities, entertainment provided by the taxpayers, hanging out with all his gang friends.
What is the point of keeping him alive for 65 years at taxpayer expense??!!!

We really need to look at instituting a firing squad for individuals such as Willie Clark.
And then televise the execution live as a warning to would-be gang-bangers.

  23. GoBrowns19 says: Mar 11, 2010 2:36 PM

I don’t understand why we, as taxpayers, have to pay to keep these kinds of people in prison. Just kill them. They are obviously never going to contribute anything to society other than mayhem. Willie Clark is garbage and I’m sure even his mother would agree…if she even cares at all.

  24. Stone says: Mar 11, 2010 2:48 PM

    @Bob Nelson
Agreed. A firing squad would be the cheapest and most efficient way of dealing with these kinds of people. If you commit murder and are convicted, you should die quickly so as to save the tax payers any future burden of keeping pointless people alive in prison.

  25. birdmancometh says: Mar 11, 2010 2:50 PM

You know what, I used to actually sort of take “Bob Nelson” seriously, but I guess thats over. He’s someones son too. You really think another person losing his life makes this better or easier for the Williams family?

  26. birdmancometh says: Mar 11, 2010 2:52 PM

Sorry, I shouldn’t have singled out Bob Nelson. It appears that many people on here have no regard for human life.

  27. Brewster says: Mar 11, 2010 2:53 PM

The first part of the justice system worked, he was convicted by a jury of his peers.
The second phase of the justice system will kick in when someone puts a shiv in him multiple times while in prison.
And the world will be a better place without him.

  28. slayyer30 says: Mar 11, 2010 2:55 PM

I bet Willie wishes he was a football player then he would have been found innocent. I hope closure to this will help the Family.

  29. thecrazytomato says: Mar 11, 2010 2:58 PM

    @birdman
You must not pay taxes. What is the point of keep a prisioner that will never see the light of freedom again when he took a life from another person because he cant fit into society.

  30. pats suck, blow and cheat* says: Mar 11, 2010 3:02 PM

    Hey Willie
Ask Vick what it was like to be a prag – you got next

  31. Poo Flinging Monkey says: Mar 11, 2010 3:05 PM

birdmancometh, cry me a river. We all have regard for human life, but apparently you value all lives equally, whereas many of us give almost no value to the life of a scumbag who would indiscriminately fire an assault weapon at a car load of people because someone sprayed champagne, killing an innocent man.
Maybe if you spent a few minutes with Mr. Clark and his homies, you’d feel differently?
And yes, I think the Williams family will live a better life if the execute Clark. At least then they can rest assured that he’ll never kill again.
The world is a better place without men like Willie Clark, who as you say is someone’s son. Clark’s father, perhaps, should have taught Willie that killing innocent people is frowned upon by society?

  32. MSWRavens says: Mar 11, 2010 3:07 PM

I posted YESTERDAY that as a trial lawyer, I consider alternate jurors the kiss of death…and said to expect a conviction since the alternates said they would acquit…guess my superstition held true in this instance. Florio – you should have known better!

The librarian is probably looking at you right now, hoping you didn’t leave your crack pipe on the shelf where the copy of “federal pound-me-in-the-ass prision for dummies” was.
Good luck ever providing for your family with your 6th grade education…gang bangers suck, and no matter how hard you think you are, you will never amount to a steaming pile of crap.
    We miss you D-Will…

What even adds to the mess is now the poor taxpayers will be burdened by yet another life in prison inmate rather than putting him to death and out of our misery. Now the poor taxpayers will have to pay for his free room/board, his free exercise time, his free education in prison, his free meals, free clothes, free leisure time….while the rest of the people struggle to pay for their amenities and education.

  37. rkell21 says: Mar 11, 2010 3:25 PM

I wonder if it was all worth it for him. He finally got that street cred he was looking for. It really won’t do him much good in prison.
Hopefully it’ll ease Brandon Marshall’s mind a little bit too.

If all you are worried about is the cost, then states should make better use out of prison labor to offset it. Put these turds to work to pay for their room and board.

  40. rx says: Mar 11, 2010 3:39 PM

Yes, we should definitely have government sanctioned murder as a punishment for murder. Not at all hypocritical.
Also, the taxes argument is weak. It is so much more expensive to execute someone than keep them in prison.
Also, the death penalty neither deters future murders nor provides any type of closure for families missing their loved ones.
Also, a far worse punishment/deterrant in my mind to sit in prison knowing you will never be free again and thinking about what you’ve done to get there. Willie Clark probably doesn’t care one way or the other if he lives or dies.

That infers that you actually have a conscience. Most of the murderers in prison do not.
When you really look at it, a life in prison inmate does not repay his debt to society. He/she is just locked away, and never has to pay a dime in taxes or pay for… See More anything ever again. If capital punishment is too severe, then they should really look at the prison structure, and make these detriments of society work 6-6 repaying their debts. Make them really wish they never, ever committed such heinous acts because they were completely aware and conscious of their acts and decisions. People only learn from severe humiliation, physical and arduous manual labor, and/or hitting their wallets. Make them really understand that they willingly gave up most RIGHTS as a citizen by committing such crimes. I guarantee you if we sent our felons to a Turkish, Egyptian, or to a Chinese prison, you would see them screaming to be brought back to the U.S, begging and pleading.
