Chiefs sign Casey Wiegmann

Casey Wiegmann is heading back to Kansas City.

The Chiefs announced on Friday that they’ve signed Wiegmann, a free agent center who spent seven years of his 14-year career in Kansas City but spent the last two years in Denver.

According to the Chiefs’ official announcement, Wiegmann has started 143 consecutive games at center and has taken 9,078 consecutive snaps since 2001.

Wiegmann, who was selected to the Pro Bowl after the 2008 season, was released by the Broncos last month. He visited the Redskins last weekend.

He’ll be fine, but he is really undersized and was pushed around ALOT last year.

And the correct answer is “d”, all of the above.

Great now Jamal Williams can toss that old man aside just like the Broncos did. Then he’ll wish he retired.

I dont get this signing as a Chiefs fan. I could of swore they said they wanted to get more youth on this team. If he is a backup
I guess its ok, but if they are counting on this guy to start then this move makes no sense at all.

    @WhoDat_champs
Before last year how many Super Bowls did the Saints play in or win? Who dat is right. F the Aints.

Wow. He was too old and used up even for the Broncos.
He has great heart and character though. I hope it works out for him.

Any1 is better than Niswanger. I am tad surprised bc Weig sounded pissed when he left KC, but money talks I guess. I wonder if he will make the team though; I could be an Amani Toomer type situation. But he was very solid in KC all those years and I will take it for sure. Hopefully this makes Waters happy. Now plug in Lilja, draft a T and KC is in bidness.

Icon, you never answered me in the last post…who would you sign to make the Chiefs a better team? EVERY single Chiefs post, you bash ‘em and talk about how horrible the signings are. Who would you bring in? What would you do? Please, answer this time. If not, shut up, bc you obvioulsy don’t know ANYTHING about football.
    Arrowhead Pride,
Herm Edwards was on the signing of the “younger” players (which was stupid) and it has led to the fall of the Chiefs recently. I don’t mind the signing, especially knowing he’s been here before, and proven to be a consistent and healthy player.
The Chiefs are making the right moves, in my opinion, to try and contend in the AFC West again.

i dont think they really know what they are gonna do with him depth chart wise…but thats all good…best you can do is load up on all positions and who ever is the better player starting day let em start…..i like it not a great player anymore but we really dont know if hes any better than niswanger till they square up and compete…and if he ends up being better than at least its an upgrade…even if its not much of one atleast its little better

Chiefs are going in REVERSE this off-season…they’re not getting ‘better’ – they’re (just) getting ‘OLDER.’

sign Vets to get it done, while the younger players develop and eventually take over on the OL…it’s a good plan.
They’re also bringing in Fraley to compete.

  14. Chiefs1 says: Mar 13, 2010 1:29 AM

KC has been “getting young” for a while and so far I’ve not seen the light. I like the move, getting depth b/c we need it on the OL

It appears that you can just ignore anything “Icon” says. This cat doesn’t have a clue.
Nothing wrong with this signing. The O Line is like pitching in baseball. You can never have enough depth going into the season.

It appears that the nascent this forum, affirmed & evidentiary via their utter lack a ‘football acumen’ spewn their posts, spread like a horrible gangrene across the face PFT thread… they become legion.
Chiefs getting SO LONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG in the tooth they be dragging not only hairy knuckles but too future face upon gridiron: Exhibits being -
    Wiegmann 37
    Vrabel 35
    Waters 33
Consider they now another greybeard Fraley nigh on 33, a less than whole Lilja who can see 30 as it draws nigh, both consideration help Chambers 32,
Jones 32, Edwards 31, McGraw 31, Williams 30, and…well, Vermeil made the same mistake using aged parts – as such, he missed the playoffs his last 2 seasons KC afore Herm Edwards resurrected the franchise with a playoff berth in very first season 1 his. Now comes egoli and hailme, destroying – yea, putting asunder ‘gain what gains had been made in previous administration.
Again I say, Chiefs are not getting ‘better’, they are just getting OLDER.
Another 16 loss season appends my KC Chiefs 2010 – GUARANTEED!!!
FIRE egoli & hailme – STAT!
