Brady Quinn is on the way to Denver.
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports is reporting that Quinn was just traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Denver Broncos in exchange for running back Peyton Hillis and two conditional draft picks.
We’ve known since the Browns acquired quarterbacks Seneca Wallace and Jake Delhomme that Quinn was on the way out, and now we know that he’s gone.
The question now is whether he’ll be the starter in Denver. The Broncos’ starter last season, Kyle Orton, is a restricted free agent who got a first-round tender.
Hillis gets a thumbs up.
It is amazing the Browns got anything for that loser.
LOL!
His beard can’t compare.
Man, I am so glad I never bought a Quinn jersey.
Broncos 2010 Season Record = 5-11 with Quinn as starting QB.
AAAnnndd let the looking over your shoulder begin Mr Orton. Quinn is good and this system is a perfect fit for his talents.
The Brownies are going with a guy once removed from the worst year ever and a backup that must have a secret on Holmgren. Delhomme and Wallace? really?
So can we crown Cleveland the off season champs yet?
Hillis fits the EXACT mold of what a westcoast FB should be.
Quinn clearly had no place left in Cleveland..Holmgren should a get a lot of credit for getting something in return.
Good
holy crap, didnt see that coming at all
I wonder what Lawrence Vickers thinks of this. If they cut him loose I would love to have Vickers on the Packers. Too bad we have 2 Fullbacks already.
Good for Brady Quinn. A fresh start.
Good luck to Brady Quinn. I hope you kick ass in Denver. You never got a fair shake in Cleveland.
Shoot me now.
Wow
WOW the broncos overspent …….. quinn should have been traded for a waterboy
Now I’m done. Orton is still a better option. Quinn is awful.
- Brady Quinn
- Shaun Hill
- Derek Anderson
- Jay Cutler
The list goes on and on, about over-hyped quarterbacks in this league and not one of them has ever won a playoff game, yet all “YOU” people talk trash about Mike Vick.
At least he has multiple Pro Bowls, finished 2nd in the MVP and taken his team to the championship game.
This breed of slow, one dimensional white quarterbacks is about to come to an end, just like the NBA’s old style of play.
Everyone bashing Quinn as awful while on the Browns, yet now speculation that he’ll be the starter in Denver??? Seems like people like to bash player just because they’re on the Browns.
THANK GOD!!
Please start him.
Signed,
An opposing fan
He won’t start next year, but I bet he’ll be the 2011 starter. Take care of yourself, Hillis. I always liked you!
With the money remaining on his contract i don’t think he’s gonna ride the bench for a long time… If kyle sucks or gets injured in preseason or early games get ready for quinny!
Damn…
That’s crazy. Those draft picks better be a sixth and seventh, otherwise the broncs hosed themselves.
What on God’s green earth is that idiot Josh McDaniels doing to this team?????
hopefully those draft picks aren’t better than the 4th round, but the idiot McDaniels is they could be two 2nd’s
I know it seems like everybody hates on Quinn on these comments, but I really like this move for the Broncos. Quinn is a young QB with alot of upside, who needs to be given a chance. Not really sure if he’ll get that chance in Denver with Kyle Orton in the fold. Do they know explore deals for Orton? Is Quinn some kind of insurance policy, or a solid backup? What the hell is Cleveland going to do next year?
The savior has arrived! LOL
WOW Brown fans must be excitied YEEEEEEEESH !
The browns are the worst at trading. The only team that trades commodities for fringe players and special teamers.
wow…maybe Holmgren can turn this team around after all
Hillis is a solid pick-up
I predict that he’ll be a Pro-Bowler within three years.
Or not.
Maybe the thin air will help him pass farther that 10 yards…
Denver will make Quinn their golden boy project. He’ll be the backup to Kyle Orton. Not the worst position to be in.
If McDaniels can’t straighten his game out though, safe to assume he’s hopeless as a QB.
That also means no RB will be drafted more then likely and possibly stock piling picks for a trade on draft day anddddddddd a QB will be drafted unless we get Kolb from philly
i actually think this could be a win/win for both teams. i like peyton hillis.
Wow
How long before he is in Mcdaniels doghouse! Or how long before he is a Raider.
Quinn take the starting job from Kyle Orton? What are you smoking?
ha ha ha ha ha ………….
bye bye Brady, one step closer to complete bust.
What a waste of talent and a high draft pick. Phil Savage should be thanked for that great move.
Never got a chance 12 starts and a terrible coach in fatass Crennell, 3 different offensive coordinators that all were terrible including ding dong Daboll. I hope he does well.
I stand corrected. I said before there was no interest, but this is a big move. McDaniels may get somethinig more out of Quinn yet.
Hillis is a great trade on Cleveland’s end as well. Looks like Mike may like the look of Hillis and Harrison in the I formation.
From Cutler to Rex to Quinn. You have to really not be excited to be a Bronco fan.
they picked up his ridiculous contract too?
Wow. What are the conditional picks?
Brady Queen belongs in gay porn, not in Denver.
Quinn will be happier in Denver than he was in Cleveland. Obviously, this statement could be made for anyone in Cleveland though.
More to the point – they traded Quinn to Josh McDaniels. The same man that created a system that allowed Matt Cassel to go from “never started a game since high school” to 11-5 with the Patriots.
“The question now is whether he’ll be the starter in Denver.”
Nope
I think this is a good trade for Denver, now they have a legitimate young stud @ QB. They can finally progress. I really like the move for Denver.
Depending on the picks that could be a great trade for Denver. Quinn never had a chance in Cleveland…I wonder if McDaniels gave his old buddy Charlie a call to find out some info on Quinn…
Interesting. I would still guess Orton is the starter as of now, though Quinn would likely be given the opportunity to steal it away from him based on performance.
Quinn will be good in Josh Mcdaniels system. He coulda been good in Mike Holmgren’s west coast system if given the chance. Isn’t the west coast based on short quick throws? Isn’t that what Quinn does best? Another dumb move by the Browns.
I like the trade myself.
I’m a Jets fan, and I particularly, like the trade.
I think Cleveland got a lot for Quinn, but I think the Broncos might have found their Quarterback of the future. Good trade for both teams.
He’s better off…..
Hopefully he will finally get a chance
OK, it’s over now. Time to move on.
My question to Cleveland is, how will they make 1 good QB out of 2-3 bums?
OH MY GOD. Holmgren is making a MESS of the Browns. He is past his prime. We will see this year. They will be lucky to win 5 games…then again he will blame it on Man(lack of)genius. Holmgren will coach in 2011 and win 3. Lerner wasted his g**d*** money on this fat piece of crap. He ain’t no MikeTannenbaum or Rex Ryan.
wow! thats a great trade Quinn very well could end up being the starter.. mcdaniels is really gettin it done in denver
The Broncos overpaid BIG TIME.
Bye, Bye Pretty Boy… breathe deep in that mountain air
Wow, this place has gone nuts. I clicked on the link and there were 0 comments but the comments link bought this up.
Anyway, a player AND two picks – what were the Broncos thinking…
will be interesting to see if commenters here will as harsh as they are on the Browns (like…”Ha, Ha, the Browns are worse cuz the added Delhomme. They are idiots and suck.”)
Ha, Ha, the Broncos are worse cuz the added Quinn. They are idiots and suck.
Typical PFT posting mentality lately.
This breed of slow, one dimensional white quarterbacks is about to come to an end
Been hearing that since Randall Cunningham.
Of course Holmgrean is past his prime. He gets way too much credit for even having a “Prime”
He won one SB, lost two more when his teams were underprepared and overrated.
This is good. Gets some heat on Orton.
I assume Josh thinks Quinn will be ok in the long term.
Cleveland and teams like that have ruined a lot of good football players.
Look at Matt Cassel, a year driving the New England Caddilac vs a year heading up a bad Chiefs squad.
Day and night.
Peyton Hillis is a great addition, but there is no way he is taking over lawrence vickers position. Lawrence Vickers is a monster in the blocking game! Another great move by the Moustache Mike Holmgren and Heckert….. Browns are looking more and more like a contender and not a pretender
Bashing Quinn has nothing to do with the Browns. Last year he was awful inspite of their wins at the end of the year. They won inspite of him. The Bills, Raiders, Rams, and Browns all had bad QB play. It’s possible that he has a better year in Denver away from the mess that is the Browns, but he definately hasn’t developed so far.
I am just glad they got rid of this bum, yeah we didnt pick up anyone great, but we werent really going to be this year no matter what, and now they can draft a new young qb that actually has some talent and build him up.
Trade makes sense for both teams. Frankly, i’m surprised the Browns got as much for Quinn as they did, but McD never thought much about Hillis anyways.
KC wants Quinn…… McDaniels wants Cassell. Oh yeah… a lot of gay dudes want Quinn as well.
oops i said rex, i guess i could care less about the afc west
Considering people were saying there was no market, this looks pretty good for Cleveland. Fringe player or not, TWO picks (assuming to be late 2010) is fine at this point.
For those that asked, a conditional pick means the round could improve depending on performance. If Quinn does X, pick improves a bit. If Denver gives anything more than a 4 and 6 and Hillis, they are high on that mountain air (which come to think of it, could improve Brady “7 yard arm limit” Quinn’s distance!
just announced Wimbley to Oakland… cleaning house and at least getting draft picks… go Holmgren and Heckert
Hey blueeyedevils: “This breed of slow, one dimensional white quarterbacks is about to come to an end, just like the NBA’s old style of play.”
Hahahaha! thanks for the humor! So I guess Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Philip Rivers and so on are a part of the breed on the way out?? Mike Vick was the most over-hyped player ever…true he had skill and he got to an NFC championship game..so what! Delhomme got to 2 NFC championship games and a super bowl, in the same period of time…so by your pathetic racist standards Delhomme is not only a better QB then Vick but a member of a superior race!! hahahahaha!!!
Blue Eye Devil….let us know when someone other than those slow, one dimensional quarterbacks you talk shit on wins a SuperBowl! Guys like Vick, McNAbb, and Vince Young all have something in common…always the bridesmaid, never a bride!

The most disturbing post of the day.
I can’t believe anyone cares about Quinn. He’s junk – the fact that they got Hillis for him is quite a win for the Browns.
The Lions are leading the year in free agent deals – Browns are #2 in my opinion.

As a Raider fan Im waiting for the slow, one dimentional black quarterback to come to an end

I agree, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Philip Rivers are overrated. And those guys for the Falcons, Jets, and Ravens… they don’t look anything like future franchise QBs…
Oh… no… wait… that’s not right. That just sounds stupid.
Oh yeah, the best QBs in football are STILL those guys. Do not play the race card on a style of play. The fact is that is Michael Vick was as good as Peyton Manning and played like Peyton Manning… he’d be… Peyton Manning.
Warner never had to move his feet to create the Greatest Show on Turf.
This is a good move for all concerned. Like Anderson, Quinn may or may not be an NFL QB but he just wasn’t develop into one in Cleveland. Same thing happened with Cedric Benson in Chicago. The Bears were right to get rid of him and Bengals were right to sign him. Even if Quinn makes it to the HOF the Browns were right to get rid of him. He wasn’t going to go anywhere with the kind of pressure he was under in Cleveland.
Holmgren couldn’t get him out of town quick enough, only to replace him w/Delhomme??? …we’ll see IF McDaniels is as smart as he thinks he is, no reason he can’t coach Quinn up to be as productive, if not more so, than Matt Cassel
This guy is a bust.
You know Holmgren and Heckert got the best deal that was out there. What does that say about a guy if the Broncos were only willing to give up a couple of late picks and a FB?
Hmmm…I suppose McDaniels has some master plan on how he’s going to “fix” Quinn. I feel sorry for Broncos fans having to deal with an idiot for a HC. They dumped Shanahan for this???
We still own the Mules in Denver….

You racist piece of stool, you talking about the slow one dimensional white QB’s like steve young, montana, and bradshaw, or the current one dimensional white QB’s like Peyton, Eli, Raplistberger, Brees, Favre, and Brady.
Yeah, we need less guys like that and more guys like Jabustus who can’t complete a pass during the regular season, and McNabb, who can’t complete a pass during the post season. or maybe a vince young, who can’t handle the pressure of playing under the bright lights in tennesse and wanted to off himself……
I’ve got nothing against a black QB simply because he’s black, if he can play, thats great, but human garbage like you is what causes these kind of problems to go on longer than neccesary. rot in a painful hell.
what’s does this do to Lawrence Vickers now hillis is with the browns
he played for the browns lmao… what do you expect coming out of a college qb??? i’m suprised he didn’t get cancer leaving that sorry *** program. i mean when your best player is a kick returner your program is ****.
and not to mention the browns sign delhomme i’m just glad i don’t have to suffer every year. there is a reason why carolina took a 12 million dollar hit and didn’t keep him as even a backup. because he’s crap i can’t wait to watch the browns next year its goin to be quite comical
I think this will be a good illustration of the Will Rogers phenomenon, where the moving of an element from one set to another set raises the average values of both sets.
I hate to see Hillis go because the man is a beast. He can eat rebar in the morning and sh*t out nails at night. But he got into Little Napoleon’s doghouse and was never able to get back out. Besides, we needed to do something about our QB position. Simms is a spleenless klutz and I don’t trust Brandstater.
Plus, he really can’t be all that bad, can he? Can he?
Quinn had NOBODY to throw to during his time in Cleveland except bobble hands Braylon for a little while there, but if Marshall and Royal stay and Quinn ends up getting a shot? Who knows, maybe he might turn it around…
Go bills
Only time will tell…could be a win/win trade for the teams involved.
I like what little I’ve seen of Hillis but, I don’t see him starting ahead of Vickers. Tuff little bugger, he may fill the complementary role with Harrison or Davis, as Fargas was going to do.
If BQ can stay away from Brokeback Mtn. and get his head straight, he could still salvage a career. Orton is not the long term answer.

why does everyone assume hillis will be a FB. dude dominates as a RB and vickers is solid at that position. they will hand him the rock if they’re smart. Trade makes sense for denver but I will freakin miss hillis. if you don’t know about him check his highlights he can ball, fan favorite in denver. good luck in cleve
Quinn got shafted in cleveland maybe he will get a fair go in denver
@ tighthead
LMAO… dude got shafted???? they gave him simple 6-8 yard out patterns to throw last year, and he couldnt get it done.
No accuracy, no arm, big head about himself… thanks Denver.
Just like Braylon… another team overpaud for our trash.
How in the world can anyone possibly accurately evaluate the skills of either Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson? Both were surrounded by the worst talent in the league the past couple of seasons.
I find it fascinating that Anderson played well in 2007, back when the Browns actually had some offensive weapons. Funny how that works, huh?
I wouldn’t mind seeing Anderson in a Steelers uniform in 2010.
@ clevelandmetal13
“Just like Braylon… another team overpaid for our trash.”
Browns paid a first round pick (4th overall) to get Braylon in the first place, and he didn’t do jack sh*t. Browns are the kings of high-risk, low-reward transactions. Sh*t rolls downhill when there’s nothing but sh*t at the top of the pile.
Now please try not to f*ck up Hillis’s career, too.
The Browns will be in the Playoffs. PLAYOFFS? PLAYOFFS? Are you talking about PLAyoffs! You want to talk about PLAyoffs!
