pensacolasteelers: The reason I think Harrison would have been a better MVP candidate than Roethlisberger is simple: Roethlisberger is a quarterback. He’s suppose to throw touchdown passes. That’s what quarterbacks are paid to do.
Harrison, on the other hand, is a big, lumbering linebacker. And big, lumbering linebackers just aren’t suppose to do what he did: Intercept a pass at his team’s own goal line, dodge numerous would-be tacklers, and race 100 yards, basically untouched, and into the other team’s end zone.
That play, that performance, besides being breathtakingly spectacular, was also an unexpected bonus.
That play, like it or not, won the game.
Your excitement for Roethlisbeger, however, is perfectly understandable. It only took Your Boy Ben 119 total minutes over two Super Bowls to finally throw a touchdown pass. Congrats!!!

I cheered for the “Pittsburgh Steelers” when they drove themselves down for that SB win. It was not all Roethlisberger.
He did not deserve MVP. Holmes was a football machine in that game. The right man got the name. Ben hung around up there so much it was sad. The coach didn’t even get to hold it because of Ben. Check the clips. They are on NFL Network.
As for as the Duke case, I believed the players -thank you.
Also, Steeler-Lady – you are going to be berrated when it is proved what Ben did. Why would the Rooneys be so upset if there wasn’t some merit in the accusation? The ROONEYS are the only ones Ben needs to worry about now – and the Commish. But Dan and Art II are “God” to Ben Roethlisberger right now and he better be in confession!!

Steeler-lady: Your Boy Ben threw three picks last season that were returned for TDs. See how easily you forgot about those? That’s exactly what I’m talking about.
If you live within the Pittsburgh area, you’ll know how the media cover Steelers game, especially last season: When they won, it was alllll Your Boy Ben. When they lost, the defense didn’t play well enough.
My favorite coverage of a game happened in 2008, when DeShea Townsend returned an interception for a TD that rallied the Steelers late and beat the Cowboys. The next day, the media hailed Roethlisberger for yet another one of his patented fourth-quarter comeback victories.
It’s no wonder he’s the way he is. He, like most of Steelers fans, believes his own hype.
I realize my position on this matter is politically incorrect within Steelers Nation, but no one should be above criticism, especially the highest paid player on the team.
What about Walter Andrew Brister III aka the Bubster?
My position isn’t just about Roethlisberger. ALL starting QBs are overhyped, overrated and overpaid. Focusing all the attention on one player, especially after wins, is ruining the game and dividing teams and teammates.
In 2007, the cheating Patriots were without their beloved Tom Brady. They finished the season at 11-5. In 2008, they had their beloved Brady, and wound up 10-6. Go figure.
As for Tommy Maddox: He was a class act who saved us from Kordell, which makes him a hero in my book.
PensacolaSteelers: I do beleive James Harrison would’ve been an even better MVP choice. His spectacular interception return for a TD was a 10, maybe 14-point swing. Without that play, perhaps the greatest in Super Bowl history, the Steelers last-second TD wouldn’t have mattered.

Rob.. I have NEVER heard Ben boast about anything involving his play,,… hes constantly credited his teammates for their success.. or savin his butt.. and hes also dogged himself out and taken the blame for losses several times.. thats one thing i can defend him for.
It is a team effort so its about time people stop giving the D all the credit too..lol even tho they are the best.. it works both ways. All facets of the game need to be on point to win championship games. This year i have to say our special teams blew WIND!
Last but not least……Ben brought winning back in the Burgh…hes made plays i couldnt see Maddox doing thats for damn sure. Lol and if you think Ben isnt as important to this team as any other starter.. one name rings a bell. BUBBY BRISTER!!!!!!
Ben did have a big season by numbers.. compared to the past but this is the first year we have really committed more to the passing than the running attack too. (even tho ..Mendy had over a 1,000yrds.. Holmes n Ward both over a 1.000 and ben over 4,000) Where did it get us? Not playoffs.. why??/…. look at several games given up late in the 4th………or the 5tds given up by special teams.. or a few rare Fg’s missed..so see everythign needs to work together.LOL

My point all along has been that I’m sick of his arrogance, an overbearing attitude brought about by a local media that would like you to believe that the team should be named not the Pittsburgh Steelers but rather the Pittsburgh Roethlisbergers.
It takes an entire team effort to win Super Bowl titles. If you want to continue to believe that Roethlisberger won those Super Bowls all by himself, be my guest. But I gotta tell ya: If you choose to do so, that would be a great disservice to a tremendous 2008 defense that carried the team to Super Bowl XLIII.
Bdrunk: I don’t know what the ratio was between passes and rushes in 2009, but alllllll season long all I heard from Your Boy Ben was his bragging that these aren’t the Steelers of old, and that he was going to throw the ball early and often. Mission accomplished. He succeeded one time. Congratulations.
BTW: What set Roethisberger apart in that Green Bay game was that not only did he pass for 500 yards, but he also led his offense to some points.
How many times did the Bruce Ariens/Ben Roethlisberger offense score 30 or more points in either the 2008 or 2009 seasons? Check it out.

What happened to you was horrible, and it’s happened to a lot of women. But that doesn’t mean every jackass jock who gets accused is guilty. Wish you could see I’m not defending Ben. I’m defending waiting to find out because things aren’t always what they seem.
I’ve been victimized in several different situations in part because my work took me to some dangerous places overseas. I’ve seen the worst men can be, but I’ve also had women lie and try to put me in harm’s way. And I’ve had men I hardly knew step up to protect me. So I know some men are dogs but some are heroes. And some women are victims but some will tell any kind of lie to get what they want. I would never have believed women could lie about stuff like this if I hadn’t seen it for myself through my own experiences as well as my brother’s law practice.
Ben may be a JERK. But you should read the details in Nevada. The evidence presented shows that woman is lying, Reba. And when a woman lies about rape, she hurts other women. That’s why I get so pissed. And that’s why I’m skeptical about this new accusation. But the Georgia woman may be telling the truth. We just don’t know. We may never know. But even if he’s innocent, Ben obviously needs to do a lot of soul-searching and growing up.
Yes, the real victims who come forward have tremendous courage. And I am sorry for what you went through.

Well Reba I am sorry you had to experience something like that BUT just because it happened to you DOES NOT mean that every accusation is legit and that Ben did what he’s being accused of. Just like Bettis a few years back this will be proven in the end to be nothing more then an extortion attempt. But I bet that even if his accusers, without being prompted or paid off, retract their accusations I bet you won’t offer a public apology for you hateful rhetoric? Whereas, if it turns out that he did something I WILL publically admit that I was wrong and criticize him for what he’s done. I have been a Steeler fan since 1970. I hve disliked #7 since the beginning. He has proven himself to be irresponsible with the motorcycle incident. Now 2, count them, 2 women are after him for sexual assault.
I have been a victim of such a crime… I was slipped a drug called the date rape drug. The guy was exactly like Pig Ben. Jock – college QB that won enough for the team to be in the top 10 in the nation. Everybody believed him because – how can someone so famous actually do something like that. I must be either a liar or worse. Luckily someone got ahold of the glass I was drinking from and the evidence was there with the drug and his fingerprints. I went through hell and back before someone actually beliieved it. Name calling, shutting me out, etc. I did drop out of school and once they “got” him, I went back. Not one apology but was left alone and slowly started my social life again.
Write me off if you want but I believe those women. Ben will just pay them off and move on. That’s just how the system works. The love of money is the root of all evil.
And, the name Reba comes from the Old Testament as a king of Midian.
