The Packers enjoyed bringing tackle Mark Tauscher back so much last season they are doing it again.
In a move hinted at by Packers coach Mike McCarthy Friday night, the Packers have agreed to terms on a new two-year deal for Tauscher, according ESPN Milwaukee’s Jason Wilde.
The Packers still need to develop some young tackles, but Tauscher represents a safer choice than any of their current in-house options.
The 33-year-old is now 16 months removed from ACL surgery and looks like the favorite to start on the right side again.
Hooray! It was great to have him back last season and two years is perfect -
I go to school with one of Tauschers cousins…not that this pertains to anything important.
I go to school with one of Tauschers cousins…not that this pertains to anything important.
yeYEAH!!
This is a good move. Wouldn’t be surprised if Tausch gets usurped as started toward the middle of the season, but if he doesn’t it is pretty descent insurance for this year.
Good to have you back, Mark.
Wow – old players to go in the new “old jersy’s ” that was just announced.
Hell yes! Ted has made some great moves over the last week. Develop from within and through the draft. Yeah he made some bone head moves(Justin Harrel), but he has done the organization right and it’s paying off. Last season the Pack made the playoffs as a wild card. In 2010 They will re-claim the NFC North! It’s going to be sweet! GO PACK GO!
Bada Bing Bada get er done! Niceley done TT!
Jared Allen was very happy to hear the news.
Lang is the favorite to start at RT. Tauscher is the favorite to start at RT if/when Lang has to move to LT when Clifton misses a minimum of four games with ankle sprains and whatnot.
Unless TT nabs somebody in the draft who can get it done.
Jared Allen plays against the LT, btw Favrelous.

Why? Allen is a right defensive end. Tausher plays right tackle (so, the opposite side).
How big of a Vikings fan are you if you don’t know this? Or are you like most Vikings “fans” who only jumped on the bandwagon last year (i.e. Pervy Harvin and [the original] Twiz[-inator]).
Don’t expect facts to get in the way of a Viqueens fan taking a shot, nerd.
It’s great that the team will get at least another year out of these tackles. Hopefully their successors will be trained next season. On another note, it’s wonderful to see comments from the queens trolls who don’t seem to realize that the only thing that kept the packers from winning the division last season was its early season pass blocking. The vikings were only one game better, remember? With a healthy, veteran line for a full season the packers chances of winning the division are excellent.
“The vikings were only one game better, remember? With a healthy, veteran line for a full season the packers chances of winning the division are excellent. ”
And the queen bandwagoners keep talking about the media whore Favre leading them to the promised land. Sorry but it will be the same sad song next year. “we was cheated-yada, yada, yada”.
Maybe next year Brent will get his own show in Minnisappleass-They could call it “Brets Bruises”! Each week he could show the fans how bad he got clobbered the week before and whine about the poor officiating.
Fan_of_Football – Let me guess: “It’s another one of TT’s panic moves by re-signing a mediocre player past his prime.” Get a clue, loser.
Good post last starfighter
While the Packers improved over the season, the vikings became over confident and lost the games they should have won.
So now lets see what we are gonna hear all offseason. AP will learn how to hold onto the ball and the vikings will hold him accountable for his fumbles. Didnt we hear that after the chicago game?
Doesn’t matter what favre does sage and t jack will be just fine at qb. Thats why the desperation to let favre make the rules huh?
The Vikings will win the superbowl. Has it ever happened?
I love how the viking fans “think”.
Packer fans love to make lemonade out of lemons. There is a reason why 31 other teams were not interested in either Tauscher or Clifton and last year there were 32 teams as not even the Packers wanted them. Maybe the Pack should go sign Orlando Pace too as a backup.
Gotta love TT admitting his huge mistakes with the line and re-signing Taucsh.
TT continues to struggle at drafting competent O-lineman. Clifton and Tausch have given TT a stay of execution, but even the most ardent and stubborn TT-backer would admit that the 2010 is of utmost importance to TT’s future in Green Bay.
Before vikes fans get all cocky you should check the stats of sacks allowed after week 8 or 9. Yeah we allowed like 37 in the first half of the season but once Clifton and tauscher were back and healthy and the line gelled we only allowed like 13 more the rest of the season and that’s about the same as every other team.
Hey Viking fan, maybe you need to worry about if Brett Favre is coming back first. Then if he dosen’t we will see how good the Vikings will not be, then if he does get ready to turn the ball over and over again. TT is on a roll now just get some young o-lineman that can block and please find us another running back to help out Ryan Grant!!!!! Go Pack!!
The resigning of Sherman holdovers Clifton and Taucsher just further illustrates TT’s inability to draft any Olineman whatsoever. Newsflash TT, those two can’t last forever (however that HOF consistent top 5 QB you let go a couple years ago can).
While employed as an analytical chemist at a private environmental analysis lab I did not have specifically delegated contract management responsibilities but was often directly involved with clients to help them decide on how to handle specific projects. For example, I would field calls directly from clients and advise them on which analysis or set of analysis’ would fit their project needs. I was also required to correspond with clients when certain test results were unexpected and required further testing.
—————————————————————
LOL, remember the skins trying to offer big $ to Clifton last week as well as the other teams that tried to get Tausch last season even when he was hurt? Those guys chose to stay with the class organization that drafted them and supported them through injuries instead of tossing them aside. Again with people not letting the facts get in the way of whatever it is that goes on their heads.
Mr Humble, quit dry humping your favorite Minneapolis waiter and pay attention to facts. Tauscher worked out for a few teams early last season and took a home team discount resigning with GB. Clifton was on a few private jet rides to talk with a couple teams and was offerred $5+ mil a year elsewhere.
7 and 1 the 2nd half of the season when the O-line started to jell and now we have the same O-line back… we had the lemonade now go hug your waiter!
Mr. Humble you rip every single move the Packers make. In your eyes they went 0-16 last season. How in the world did they win 11 games. They played the same schedule the Vikings played and they won 12 regular season games, 1 more than the Pack. I don’t get it for such a horrendous roster of untalented players.
Who is more likely to duplicate or improve their season from a year ago a 26 year old QB or a soon to be 41 year old who will most likely skip training camp again?
Re: Gotta love TT admitting his huge mistakes with the line and re-signing Taucsh.
*************************
Do you mean the mistake of not resigning him last year until he could pass a physical after the surgery?
This is a (another) great move. The Viking fans/Packer haters are the last ones to say that old seemingly washed up veterans are no longer useful. The Packers are poised to improve at a greater rate than the Vikings next year and their “fans” know it. They only wish they were light years ahead of the Packers because of their overwhelming superior talent, but they know they aren’t. That’s why they have started their desperate and pointless drivel in such volume (already.) Why do you ask? Because it all comes down to the QB position, and theirs is in a state of flux. Every good developing QB begins to show their real stuff in about their third year, St. Brett included. I’ll take Rodgers over any NFC QB out there. Tauscher knows that Rodgers represents his best chance at a Lombardi trophy before he hangs it up for good and plans to show his stuff too. Next stop….SuperBowl. GO PACK!
TT is doing a really good job this offseason.
He hasn’t signed any FA’s, but at least he’s bringing back our key guys.
Lets hope he can have another great draft!
Breaking news:
herb adderly has just been signed to replace AL HARRIS
Ryan Leaf:
I’m glad you at least agree that after Tausch and Clifton, the cupboard is bare.
The sugary beverage that makes some exclaim, “Oh, yeah!” doesn’t necessarily flow freely everywhere in Wisconsin.
I have established the following facts:
1. Buffalo is not an NFL team – they play CFL ball in Buffalo
2. the City of Cleveland is one of the worst areas to live in the united states
3. Redskin fans love to give their hard-earned money to Snyder to endure another year of losing
but the packer fans may be the biggest KOOLAID drinkers in the world – Ari and TT keep mixing it up and they keep sucking it down.
It’s great to have Tausch and Clifton back for another year!
As for viking fans … use the off season wisely – keep working on your math … 12 guys in huddle Bad! … 11 guys in huddle Good! Coming out of a timeout … learn to count to 11!!!
And just remember, for gosh sakes you can’t have ALL ex-Packers making up your roster, so don’t get upset when we resign Clifton and Tauscher … and you shouldn’t have ALL Packer/Badger ex-coaches on your staff either.
Come to think of it, you all should be getting part time jobs so that you can do your part to pay for your new stadium … we’re not gonna do that for you! We’ve provided you with coaches and players … now … it’s your turn … Get to Work!
*SIGH*
Even more wasted money, I’m embarassed these idiots run my team. This unbelievably uncoordinated and slow shell of what he was just got away with highway robbery. It helps that Ted’s a free agent chickenshit, too; and that McCarthy can’t handle coaching anyone he hasn’t went to pizza buffet with at least 50 times since he’s been coach. Even less accountability for jokes Campen and Philbin to lose their jobs over. They can just blame degraded skills on a former (years removed) all-pro rather than taking a fall on drafting a player high or signing the 50+ players above Tubbs on the FA list currently.
People seem to forget that all 32 teams didn’t even want this guy last season, and a serious issue on our o-line brought him in to show us all this guy isn’t even 50% of what he was. But, hell, that guarantees him two years of a new contract, right?
BTW, the idiot above that claimed Jared “The Wooly Mangina” Allen is happy – you’re a dumbass.

Oh but thats wright idiots like you & that clown Percy_Harvin think that J Allen is a better player then Reggie was. Keep dreaming & talking shit Douche Bags.
How are the Packers fans koolaid drinkers but the Vikings fans are not? The Vikings won 12 regular season games & 1 playoff game. They scroed 470 pts and had a 40 year old QB who had 1 of the top 3 seasons of his career. They won games against the Ravens and 49ers at home that very well could have been losses.
The Packers won 11 games, they lost a shootout to AZ because of no defense & 3 key turnovers very similar to the Vikings loss to the Saints. They have a 26 year old QB who in his 2nd season as a starter played better than all but 5-6 guys in the league. The Packers scored 461 pts – 9 fewer than the Vikings & allowed less pts on defense despite playing almost the exact same schedules. The Pack played both games against the Vikings without Clifton & Tauscher and without Jermichael Finley in the 2nd game as well.

30 wins in 3 seasons from TT and MM and you say sucks GB fans are koolaid drinkers????
I’ll drink that koolaid every year!!!
Put some glasses on that’s not what was written, reading what you want to read sigh ‘almost the exact same schedules’.
Mr Fumble and the other Vikings homers are right guys. Maybe we should be looking for Tackles that can make undeserved Pro Bowls, and then ya know, not pratice, party, lie, and get kicked off the team.
Those are the kind of guys I am proud to have on a team. Class all the way I say.
Or maybe we’ll stick w/ a solid, knowledgable veteran, who played his HS, and college ball in Wisco. A loyal GB Packer? Word is when Tausch is done, he’s gonna be coaching the o-line.
Vikings don’t have a single player that’s gonna be doing that. Just a team full of no heart low-lifes.
Or, how about 40 wins in 5 seasons? Suddenly, not such a good average.
Come talk to me when Green Bay wins the Super Bowl and the gray goose is still running the show. Then, you’ll have something.
Steady Teddy!
Glad to hear it. Tausch being back gives us so much more flexibility on the line. Lang may take over as RT this season, but having Tauscher back means he can step in if Lang has to play LT for awhile or anywhere else. Now maybe we can let Barbre go and find someone in the draft who can actually learn how to play. Also hope Colledge is getting the message by now that they’re not too concerned about whether or not he comes back. If he does, this should be his last chance to really produce.
Not a bad move signing Tauscher seeing as how TT has yet to draft an O-lineman with even average NFL ability.
Apparently, there are three seasons: the regular season, post-season and off-season trash talking. The last two years the Vikings have won the regular season (NFCN champs) and the post-season (making the playofs and wining a playoff game), while Pack fans can claim the delusional off-season trash talking crown two and probably three years straight. Win 4 2009 pre-season games and Super Bowl Bound right? Nope, lose to the Vikes twice and previously winless Tampa, and TT and MM must be fired. End the season strong, and the Pack is the dark horse Super Bowl team again that everyone fears right? Nope, get squashed by the Cards in the playoffs, and all hopes are dashed once again. Never fear, it’s a fluke and learning experience for a great young and building team.
Here we go again, this year is the Pack’s year. Sure. Year 4 of the young up and coming team crap (even thought the CBs, OTs and D-line are just as old or older than the other NFCN teams). After all that, poetic justice dictates that the only pathetic satisfaction obtainable by Pack fans will again be rooting for the Vikings to lose in the 2010 playoffs. It was pathetic in 2009 and will just be sad in 2010.

Jared Allen was very happy to hear the news.
————————-
That’s pretty funny for several reasons:
- Tauscher didn’t start playing until AFTER the two Vikings games last season.
- Tauscher plays RIGHT tackle. Mullet Allen plays RIGHT DE. They line up on opposite sides of the ball.
- The Packers allowed 51 sacks last season, most in the league. But only 15 sacks came in the 8 games Tauscher started. And 6 of those came in his first game back. If they had averaged the same number of sacks per game all season as they did when Tauscher started, they would’ve allowed 30 sacks all year, which would tie them with Cleveland and the Jets for 9th fewest in the league.
For these reasons and probably many others, Jared Allen should not be “very happy” to hear Tauscher’s back.
But I wouldn’t expect a guy named “Favrelous” to understand any of that.

Or where your QB automagiacally, right before your eyes turns into a punter?
When you sign wild card talent, you can’t expect to perform above a wild card loss level.
Don’t worry, TT will take the best defensive tackle available when they are on the clock in the 1st round, or maybe that WR they have been missing.
OL? Nah, you have Cliffy and Norm for that…
A punter? He was being thrown to the ground as the ball was already knocked out by the blitzing defender. I think his real intentions were to get the ball away from where it was so one of his teammates had a chance to recover it. If people really think he was punting the ball their nuts.
Adding another draft class to this young and improving team will only make them better. having your QB at all off season activities will only make them better. 13-3.
As a Green Bay Packer shareholder I approve of everything that Thompson has done thus far. It is us shareholders that he has to answer to and so far this offseason he has my stamp of approval. The vikings are losing players and cant convince anyone to play there behind Peterson. Big surprise.
I would hope you’d understand the sarcasm.
It’s kinda like idiots blaming Favre for his interceptions, yet when GayRod has turnovers, it all of a sudden turns into a team game, right?
Packer fans are the biggest hypocrites on the face of the planet.
You don’t know what a draft class will do for any team. Logically , you’d think it would, but you never know.
I really have to laugh at your 13-3 prediction.
You call out Vikings fans for thier “preposterous” predictions. Yet, here you are, before the draft, OTA’s camp and preseason and you’ve got the Pack on the cusp of the Super Bowl already.
Looks like you picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.
I love how cocky the Viking fans are right now after going 12-4 with one of the easiest schedules in the league this past year. I hope you all come back to reality this upcoming year once you see how difficult a REAL schedule is. You all act like you had the best team in the NFL, yet you couldn’t even make it past the NFC championship game. I support my team, but by no means do I think they’re the best team in the NFL. They’re still growing and will only get better(we hope). You say Packer fans live in a dream world, yet you hypocrites are exactly the same. You beat us twice this past year and beat a mediocre Cowboys teams at home, and you think you’re world beaters. Come back down to earth Viking fans. I look forward to listening to your frustrations this upcoming year when you have to face stronger teams like the patriots, jets, dolphins, eagles, saints, cards, a giants team that has something to play for, an improved bears team, and of course, the Pack. I know the Packers have a similar schedule, but I’m also not the dumbass’s on here claiming to win it all next year with this schedule. The puzzle pieces fell into place this past year for the Vikings, just as it did for the Packers in 2007.

As for the voting, you know as well as I do that it is for minor BS, “stockholders” don’t get to vote on the important stuff. If managment leads them to believe that, well, then that fanbase is markedly dumber than I thought.
They may get to vote for the board members, or what flavor of sno cones to offer, or whether they should have jiffy pop or pop secret popcorn.
But for player moves, contracts , vis a vis all the important things, these toilet paper holding fans have no say.
Absolutely none.

OK, so it wasn’t Super. Whoever it was prefaced a post by saying, “As a Packers shareholder” and you jumped all over the guy. I thought it was Super. Must’ve been someone else.
But that wasn’t the point. The point was how conveniently this guy comes along and in two posts in as many days prefaces everything by saying he’s a shareholder. Plays right into your hand.
As far as voting is concerned… DUH! I didn’t think you were that stupid. Of course you can’t vote on free agency or contracts. Name me one publicly held corporation that offers day-to-day decisions up for shareholder votes.
My point remains: you do vote as a Packer shareholder. How do I know this? Because I am one. I’ve just never felt the need to broadcast it to begin posts on this board like your alter-ego, Tooly McDicknose.
Sorry, Jimi, that is not me.
i waste too much time at work on the chicken name, more than I should.
I have no clue who it is, but it’s not me.
As I said, more power too you if you own stock.
It’s a good marketing ploy. I just take issue with ths slapdicks that think it means something to own it. Like thier post means more because they own stock.
My best guess is that is another alter ego of Supers, he is several different ones on here.
The guy you are thinking of is JimmySee.

JimmySee was the one who pulled the “As a Packers shareholder” line? Hmm. Doesn’t ring a bell.
Not sure why you think Super would go out of his way to post as RickyRudy.. Unless it would be for the sole purpose of getting under your skin.
Generally speaking it makes Packers fans look like idiots, which is what made me skeptical from the start, like seeing someone post under the username Carl Gerbschmidt..
Super is under many different aliases on here.
Yes it is to screw with me or other people.
He thinks he is using psychology or some other such nonsense.
