The Broncos released Andra Davis Saturday in one of the more surprising cuts of the offseason, but it may not take long for the productive linebacker to land on his feet.
Josina Anderson of KDKR in Denver reports Davis will meet with the Bills Monday night. A physical is scheduled Tuesday, which indicates a deal could come quickly.
Davis, 31, started 13 games last season and was solid against the run. Buffalo is looking for competent depth for their new 3-4 defense.
It would be a nice fit next to Posluszny, adding someone with some veteran experience while they keep transitioning. That said, it’d likely be a temporary bandaid, but they have so many holes to fill that a temporary fix is needed. I do wonder, though, if bringing back Kawika Mitchell, who is more of a thumper than Andra Davis, wouldn’t be as effective a pairing.
A ton of work to do on the trenches on both sides, and it’s debatable if they have the edge talent. Could use at least another WR. More secondary depth wouldn’t be bad. And of course, they don’t know if they have their QB in place. Nix and Gailey’s only positive is that they are a new regime likely to get some time, but the deck is stacked.
3-5 more years of dissappointment on the way.
Damn it Buffalo it’s bad enough I live down in Dolphin land, but to be at the bottom of the division really sucks.
i would love a bills fan to explain why they complain when the team is bringing in a starter. Depth is what we need. Think before you make stupid comments.

It was only 3 years ago when the dolphins were 1-15. Our team played pretty well when everyone wasn’t on IR. At least the new regime is working on depth and building through the draft, instead of signing players like T.O. and loading up on glorified special teams players. With that attitude I suggest you just become a dolphins fan, we wont miss you.
I’m trying to keep hope alive, but the constant mediocrity is strating to get to me. Sure Davis is a good player, but at 31 he is clearly not a long term addition. My comment was more in terms of my overall expectations for the Bills near future. I think the Gailey hire was uninspired and I will never understand the constant recycling of coaches who have not been successful. I would have been more excited if they brought in an assistant who’s name I didn’t even know than bringing in Gailey whose name I know, but not for his success. I know people will argue that the teams he has worked with in the past have made the playoffs, but he was an assistant in Pittsburg and when he got the talented Cowboys to the playoffs he was unable to coach them to a win. He was 2-3 in bowl games at GT. And at his last job he got fired before the season started.
I guess that when they fired Jauron I was hoping the Bills would bring in new blood, maybe I have to consider anyone under 80 to be new blood in Buffalo.
Andra Davis is a class act. Buffalo would do well by signing this guy.
I thought Andra was banned by the NFL. Oh, that was Andro – never mind.
@ Big Stretch
You would have been more excited if they brought in an assistant who’s name you didn’t even know? How’s that worked out so far? Wade Phillips? Greg Williams? Mike Mularkey? Dick Jauron? 3-5 years isn’t the near future in NFL terms. You contridict yourself. Your predicting 3-5 more years of mediocrity but you would rather have a long term addition rather than Davis. Does that mean you would rather draft a LB? It’ll take a few years to develop him. Maybe 3-5 before he’s anything but mediocre. Yes Gailey was fired rom his last job before the start of the season but that had more to do with crazy ownership and new coaching philosophies than Gailey’s ability. Even Jerry (I have an ego bigger than my new flat screens) Jones publicly admitted he made a mistake when he let Chan go after 2 years and wishes he had kept him. Gailey is not unproven. He’s shown he can run a team that can at least compete. If Gailey can get the Bills to the playoffs in 2 years are you gonna be bitching? I know I won’t. Nice try at covering your ass for making a stupid comment, but you just sound ignorrant.

Realistically, who were you hoping the Bills hired?Nobody wanted the job…Personally, I am astounded that the Bills were able to get someone of Gailey’s caliber and resume. I am with the other guy’s here, bring something other than bitchin to this blog…
