Broncos bid farewell to Chris Simms

With Brady Quinn now under contract at a base salary of only $700,000, the Broncos were able to part ways with last year’s primary backup quarterback, Chris Simms.

According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, Simms has been released.

Simms was due to earn a base salary of $2.54 million in 2010.  Last year, he earned $1.96 million.

$1.96 million, in exchange for three appearances, one start, one benching, 17 passes thrown, five completed, one interception, five sacks, and a passer rating of 15.1.

The move leaves the Broncos with three quarterbacks under contract:  Kyle Orton, Quinn, and Tom Brandstater.

Simms could land a job with his boy Brian Schottenheimer who is the Jets O coordinator if I’m not mistaken and I do remember reading a PFT post on how they have each others initials or something along them lines tattooed on their ankles. Maybe Florio can clarify that one for me.

Was giving the breakdown of his services per his compensation necessary? You act like 100′s of other backup and third string players don’t get more to do less. How about any backup Peyton Manning has ever had?

Ahh.. yes, the life of the backup quaterback.

As a Buc’s fan and not a Simms fan I will say this. That hit he took against Carolina that busted his spleen and he still finished the game…UNBELIEVABLE!
Journeyman QB..yeah but you are one TOUGH MAN!
Good luck in the future. I wish it had of worked out with the Bucs.

Passer rating of 15.1, eh? Brady Quinn was at least 30 points higher than that….Good luck, Broncos.

Brandstater looked better than any QB we have on the roster when he was in. Would like to see him get some time with starters, he made our scrubs look good when he was in.

Simms couldn’t even beat out Major Applewhite. How could anyone expect him to beat out Kyle Orton or Brady Quinn?

Chris Simms was a plague on the land of Colorado. We are better off without his abominable presence.

I saw Chris Simms play in high school. He was
great. He was a automatic to play in the
NFL. He played good for the Bucs. He would
be a good backup in DC

    Kyle,
    You know nothing about football
