The role of Ari Fleischer in the sports industry continues to grow.
Fleischer, who has helped the Packers find a way to extricate themselves from Brett Favre and who has helped Mark McGwire find a way to acknowledge his steroid use and who is helping Tiger Words find a way back onto the golf course, is now helping the Buccaneers find a way to find a guy (or gal) who will be responsible for dealing with reports, rumors, and inquiries regarding the oft-embattled franchise.
According to Daniel Kaplan of SportsBusiness Journal, Fleischer is assisting the team’s effort to find a new Director of Communications.
“I am helping spread the word for the Bucs about their opening and am
holding preliminary talks with some candidates,” Fleischer told Kaplan. “The rest of the interview process and the decision about who to
hire are determined by the Bucs.”
Fleischer’s involvement shows that the old ways of filling these jobs won’t apply, and that the Bucs realize that a first-class football operation accused of not pursuing first-class players at a minimum needs a first-class spin doctor to do some of the dirty work that currently has been landing on the plate of G.M. Mark Dominik and coach Raheem Morris.
May I recommend the Iraqi Information Minister.
Fleischer’s a scumbag…anybody that hires him is also a scumbag…
why do you hate the Bucs so much?
The Glazers have to hire someone to feed us more Bull spit? We have the worst owners in the league, in my opinion. No free agents would sign here to play, all they did was use the Buc’s as prop to get more money from who they really wanted to play for. Can’t wait to see how the Glazers screw up this draft. Poor Raheem and Mark D, the Glazers pull all the strings and when the spit hits the fan, they’ll just blame it all on the coach and GM. Man U fans hate the Glazers and the majority of Tampa fans hate them also, Coincidence?
It doesn’t matter how prettily you wrap up a package of horse manure, it’s still going to stink even with bows and ribbons tied around it.
As long as the Glazers own that franchise, you’ll be able to smell the reek no matter where in the country you are.
Ari Fleischer should hire a new hairpiece!
COME ON!
Funny . . . The Glazers wont open their tight wallets for players, but they will have a Director of Communications on staff to cover their fat rear ends?? I’m not a bucs fan but living in Tampa I hear about this crap all the time. If I was a fan I would be pretty irate. At least they’re an improvement over Culverhouse.
Before the Dominik and Morris witness protection plan is devised by Fleischer, he would be better advised to get a corporate finance guru from Goldman Sachs to figure out how the eliminate the $1 billion+ debt the Glazers have from buying Manchester United. Then maybe they could loosen the Bucs’ payroll purse. Oops! Sorry! Cheap is as cheap is. It’s THE Glazers in the owners suite here and in England.
Maybe the Bucs should hire some more players instead of spending their coin on a Spin Dr.
putting aside that this guy worked (aka lied) for living for arguably the worst presidential administration in the USA’s history, another reason to not use him is bc his track record as a sports consultant has been atrocious. he has been part of 2 really really badly handled issues lately; tiger and mcgwire. those 2 events could not have been dealt with worse; they both look horrible and fake and elicit no public sympathy. but continuing with how we reward bad behavior these days, he continues to get publicity…and money.
Not even Ari Fleischer can shine this turd laid by the Glazers here in Tampa. Roger Goodell, get a clue. Put a stop to the screw job the Glazers are inflicting on the Tampa Bay area.
It’s great to have someone as successful as Ari!
“…who has helped the Packers find a way to extricate themselves from Brett Favre”
FAIL
“…and who has helped Mark McGwire find a way to acknowledge his steroid use”
FAIL
“…and who is helping Tiger Words find a way back onto the golf course”
FAIl – Tiger just did what he wanted to all along.
He also failed with the BCS.
But when you can sit there and pretend that the Iraq War as a good idea, and that the President wasn’t asleep at the wheel before / piss his pants during 9/11…I guess your definition of success is kind of screwed up to begin with.
This will surely end with a disaster for the Bucs, with Ari trumpeting what a great job he did.
and who is helping Tiger Words find a way back onto the golf course
================================
Woods cannot explain the disappointment I feel in being a Tiger Words fan at this moment.
Sorry Florio, I get ripped for my typing miscues all the time!
HarrisonHits,
You’re an idiot. Keep your nose in the smelly, sooty city of Shitsburgh. You have no idea what you’re talking about. The Glazers were the ones who gave Tony Dungy his chance. They are great owners. They prevented blackouts last season, by purchasing the necessary tickets themselves. Why don’t you go help Rapelithsburger assault some more females.

Good thing Clinton didn’t just let the Saudi’s handle Bin Laden back in 1998.
Oh wait…….
That should read “about whom to hire,” Ari, not “about who to hire.” Moron!

Ari worked for the Carter Administration?
Do your homework boy.
It’s good to see that you can still get highly paid work when the highlight on your resume is public apologist for war criminals.
H.I.T.
I would partially agree with you. Malcolm Glazer was a great owner. Though since he became ill, I’m afraid his son’s are running it all into the ground and ruining what he built.
So, they need an accomplished liar.
Dick Cheney is available.
So Clinton was President when 9/11 happened? You may want to check that calendar.
Or maybe we could let tribal mercenaries go after Bin Laden at Tora Bora. Oh.
If you are happy with how the warnings were handled, and the President’s conduct when informed of the attacks, that’s good for you. Some of us have higher standards. Like, getting up when told the country’s been attacked. Instead of sitting for several minutes reading a kid’s book.
Talking to a defender of W is like talking to a toddler. If the kid keeps calling its stuffed animal ‘my sister’ it isn’t appropriate to get mad at him and correct him. He just isn’t mentally developed enough to figure it out. So why get riled up?
Ah yes, the lightweights are here to snipe at Bush.
George W Bush.
Fighter pilot. BA from Yale. MBA from Harvard.
I’m sure you losers are so much smarter, though.
RS – the Twin Towers were standing when Carter was in office.
Or am I not correct?
Or are you one of those people who considers 9/11 to be “GOP Pride Day”? The nation’s worst disaster of the modern era, spun into a superiority statement.
Like Custer running for President based on the Little Big Horn…
When I think of Ari Fleischer, I think of the grotesque. Everything that comes out of the man’s mouth is pure bile. He represents everything that I abhor and tries to paint it with a positive spin. I often wonder how the man looks in the mirror after lying to millions of people on a continual basis for the worst president in the history of America.
I pity the people of Tampa. Your air quality just became that much more putrid.
Wizard, you still haven’t managed to get a history book, or get access to History Channel. And I know you still haven’t done your homework on 1980′s politics (do you still think reagan was pro-torture I wonder?).
Fighter pilot? Can you please tell me what kinds of numbers he racked up in Vietnam? Missions, confirmed kills will suffice.
So you must LOVE John Kerry! The same level of academic credentials and he actually went to Asia and shot real live bullets! I am sure you quickly jumped to his defense. Right?
Or do you think we’re talking about GHW Bush, a man you probably trashed for raising your taxes (a move that was one of the most courageous I’ve seen from a POTUS in my lifetime)? Because he actually was a fighter pilot and courageous defender of freedom.
It is entirely possible you confuse the two, given your C- grasp of history (and that is a “gentleman’s C”, which W would be familiar with).
This guy is a total dirtbag. Him and TT were a match made in dirtbag heaven.
Ari Fleischer? What, Bernie Madoff couldn’t do a work release? Seriously, how does slug continue to find work, particularly as it involves repairing a broken message? The fact that this guy was hired to defend the BCS should tell you all you need to know about his judgment.
“So Clinton was President when 9/11 happened? You may want to check that calendar.”
No, but he was President when he created the climate for 9/11 to be conceived, planned, financed, movement of terrorist to the U.S., and trained for. It was all set in motion by the time GWB was Pres.
“Or maybe we could let tribal mercenaries go after Bin Laden at Tora Bora. Oh.”"
A definite step up from launching a couple Tomahawks from a 1000 miles away into a couple empty tents, donchathink?
Ari Fleischer? What, Bernie Madoff wasn’t allowed work release? How does this perpetual loser continue to find work? *Remembers Sarah Palin being tabbed as the VP candidate* Ahhh, nevermind. Carry on.
Fan of Football.
Keep telling yourself that, Bush was in office for the better part of a year.
As for Clinton “letting Bin Laden go”, that does not jive with reality. W let him off the hook twice. He rolled over and quit at Tora Bora and then he suspended the search for Bin Laden and disbanded he outfit charged with tracking him down – only 5 years or so AFTER the attacks.
Who financed W’s failing oil biz way back when? Who does he count as childhood friends? The Bin Laden’s and the Royal family of Saudi Arabia. Yeah, that’s the guy I want going hard after Osama.
Now go defend the Scott Mitchell signing…which is the football equivalent of defending Ari and W.
Makes me laugh.
Dude, he read a children’s book while firemen sped to the building, to their deaths.
he sat and read a children’s book. And looked like he was going to wet himself.
Seven minutes.
He read a children’s book.
Ah yes, the lightweight’s lightweight – Wizard – is here to snipe at Carter.
Jimmy Carter.
Nuclear submarine commander. Graduate of the United States Naval Academy.
I’m sure you are so much smarter, though.
See how easy it is, Wizard? That was your history lesson of the day.
Ah, that Tiger Words. What a downfall.
Fan of Football, this is why I love Republicans. Since they lack any factual knowledge, they opt to rapidly move the goalposts so they look like they know what they’re talking about.
So here you are, and in your zeal to defend W you go on the record as supporting outsourced missions against Bin Laden. Because that makes W look good, and Clinton look bad. On paper, a good play.
You support these merc missions where the chances of success are compromised, greatly so, because the US does not lack control “on the ground”. It’s a favorable strategy to you.
Now, if you and Wizard and Real Shux actually knew what happened under Clinton, you’d know that the famous “missed opportunity” wasn’t a cruise missile attack at all. It was a mission that was…are you ready…outsourced to mercenaries not under US control.
So, essentially what you did – granted, unknowingly, was fully defend the actions of both W and Clinton. Why? Because you didn’t know what you were talking about.
And that’s funny. But I am sure that Bill, and probably Hillary, fully appreciate your defense of his actions.
Of course, Clinton did this all before the Twin Towers fell. W did the same thing after, when surely there should have been a greater sense of urgency.
I must have a virus on my pc….i looked up profootballtalk.com….and was sent to cnn.com
I’ll defend the Bush administration.
You defend Carter.
We’ll let history decide.
hotmess,
is that all you do is “take” on other peoples “takes”…feel free to bone up with some original stuff yo….
