Panthers pick up Marcus Hudson

The Panthers signed former 49ers cornerback Marcus Hudson to a one-year contract, continuing a flurry of Monday activity in Carolina.

Rob Petittti and Hudson won’t sell many season tickets, but the back-to-back signings double Carolina’s previous free agency output this offseason.

Darin Gantt of the Rock Hill Herald reports Hudson will sign a one-year deal.  The 2006 sixth-round pick wasn’t tendered a contract by the 49ers as a restricted free agent.

A 49′ers already weak secondary doesn’t offer him a tender, need more be said?

Marcus Hudson is an awful NFL player but I always kind of liked him so I am sorry to see him go.

Hudson is a quality player who plays special teams, safety, and cornerback. The Panthers got a good player.

Disagree that he is awful and I think this is a good signing for Carolina as a nickel and specials player. I can see someone signing Marshall to a tender, Martin stepping to the 2, and Hudson/Munnerlain as the nickel-dime.
Is Carolina bracing themselves to not match a signed offer sheet for Richard Marshall? This signing and Martin a 2nd round pick could become speculation of just that. I do know Marshall visited the Browns last week.
